My wife, who works for an authorized verizon retailer, forwarded me an e-mail from the purchasing director which indicated they have been told the Friday launch is off and that no new date or reason for the change was given. As for LTE I have had full bars a d just ran a speed test and got 20.46 mbps dl and 6.01 mbps ul. Western, MA/ Hartford, CT area apparently not affected by the LTE issues at least not yet.
 
Called my local cellular connection and they have the Nexus now, he told me they haven't heard they can't sell them, and if Verizon hasn't told them anything different by Friady, he says come in Friday and it's yours!! :D

So even if poopy pants Verizon isn't releasing I will have one anyway...

Didn't Verizon have a massive outage right before releasing the Bionic also?

It will be an interesting thing to see play out especially with the non corporate stores, managers who have the phones ready to sell, and promised customers they would sell them to them on friday, have to balance a code of business ethics vs what Verizon is telling them to do. I have a feeling big red will win out though in most cases.

Just got back from the verizon corporate store. I told the manager i was looking to upgrade to either the nexus or the razr and that another corporate store a few miles down the road said i could get the nexus on friday. He seemed visibly upset and asked if I knew the employee i talked to because they werent supposed to talk about it. I told him i did not.

We proceeded to talk about the differences in the two phones and i mentioned that i wasnt a huge fan of the Nexus not having a micro sd card slot. He seemed shocked by this bit of information and said be right back.

He went down into some room below the store, came back up and said "hmm looks like youre right". I proceeded to ask if he knew anything about a release date. He told me that verizon is trying to keep this phone on the down low as they phased out older models and he wasnt allowed to say anything. I said I understood. As I left, however, he did say "now you didnt hear it from me, but if someone wanted a nexus, I would come to this store friday morning". I said "oh is that so?" and he replied with "I'm not a betting man, but as the manager, I would bet you will get your nexus."

My third cousin twice removed is a janitor at the secret underground Verizon headquarters. (The above groud coroprate structure is basically a puppet organization, which explains a lot) He over heard some very high up people talking about the Galaxy Nexus. As many of have guessed, Android 4.0 is actually future technology, developed in the year 2074 by genetically engineered computer scientists bred to create phone OSes for the purposes of global domination. The plan was to transport the phone back in time and sell them now for enormous profit. However, due to fluctuations in the space-time continuum, they have not been able to hold the portal open in a stable fashion. This is why there is so much back and forth about the release date. In fact there is a good chance it will collapse altogether. My cousin says the best bet is to plan for a firm release in 63 years, but depending on quantum fluctuations, we may get it as early as 1969 to coincide with the moon landing.

I think it's funny how some stores like mine will let you hold, without any security devices, the Galaxy Nexus that they got, and tell all they know, but others are really secretive.

S(he) told me that the phones are IN THE STORE. The accessories are IN THE STORE. But the Verizon computer system has delayed release of Nexus with NO RELEASE DATE SET.

It could be next week, it could be next year. :( :( :(

The devices are cluttering up back rooms at stores all over America, so they will either have to put them on the shelves to make room for other incoming devices or SHIP THEM BACK :eek:

Anyway, it sucks out loud.

hey i dont what probs their are with data today. ive had a bionic since sept 8 and almost no issues with a strong wifi connection.!

sometimes 3g is strong-had 4g once for about 10 mins, hope it comes back one day.

Did you read that on their website? I thought it was in January sometime. That would suck if we miss out on the double data!

well I just called my store rep and asked if they could just sell me the stupid thing without activating it and he said no.

So are people saying there is still a prayer that SOME stores will be selling them on Friday? I sure hope so... it would do Verizon right for creating such a taffy-pull out of this release....

I'm going to double check this....I'd just get the Rezound for now, but you need to purchase a plan/phone online to get the deal :\
 
update on my earlier 4G issues:

complete data outage on my razr now, i can't even get 1X. i understand delaying the nexus if they are planning on having these issues through friday, no one wants a brand new phone with no data connection. i am starting to feel like we will see an announcement as soon as this outage has been "fixed" though.

This is going to be the biggest cluster fudgesicle on Friday if authorized resellers are selling them and corp stores are not... and then those that bought at authorized resellers can't get them activated on the network. VZW will look ridiculous.

Or... authorized resellers are able to get them activated and corp stores won't sell them. VZW will look ridiculous.

Or... nobody gets them on Friday. VZW will look ridiculous.
 
LMAO. My god this release is epic.

Store 1: We have no idea when the phone is going to be released.
Store 2: Yeah we got them in and you can pick one up Friday!
Store 3: They in the back, but we got an email this morning the release has been delayed.
Store 4: Come by tonight at 12:01am and we can get you a Nexus.
Store 5: What is a Galaxy Nexus?

Haha it's all over the place man. Has anyone seen a phone launch as screwed up as this one? Holy cow this is just so sad.

I really do expect a phone call before Friday telling me "don't bother coming in" but we'll see. Sometimes it's nice living a small town.
