4G still dead in Southern Va for me.

In fact i've charged/killed the battery in my phone 2 times today working on #3 now starting at around 4:00 EST.

long time lurker, first time poster...I, just on a whim, called a local Verizon corporate office here in a Dallas suburb (lewisville) and got transferred around a coupla times because I guess the store was closed. Anyways I talked to a rep for a few minutes and told him I was looking to switch my service to Verizon but was only really interested in the nexus and he initially told me no info was available, so I told him thanks and I will keep checking as that was the only phone I was interested in & didn't want to hear the rest of his spiel for the R phones. He then told me to wait a second while he "looked up" a few things (i don't know what he did, but it only lasted like 10 seconds) and he then said it was going to be available on Friday the 9th and I should call him back at his extension Friday to get my order in.

Question...

I bought an OG Droid, before the had the $350 ETF and well before they got rid of NE2.

1) Can I use my NE2? VZ has never given it to me, I was too dumb to ask (just assumed they would? riiight), how do I go about doing this?

2) Will a store take my OG Droid for w/e it is worth ($16 or something)?

3) Did the listing for $300 GNex end up being 16GB or 32?... Or is that a whole other can of worms..

Thanks! Oh, and thanks for all the entertainment during a slow week (month) of work! ^_^

Cheers to Friday!

Semi-OT: I "un-rooted" my OG Droid yesterday back to stock 2.2 and now I see why it has sucked for the past 6 months... it can't run CM7 for shit and I was shooting it in the leg. Runs great now! I might not die anymore.. Sad that the ROM was too much for it and I didn't realize. :'(

No, don't do this guys. Why are you trying to drag everyone down with us? P3Droid was one of the BEST devs for my OG Droid, I STILL use his stuff.... Now we ran him off. Guys, come on, be patient. Yes it sucks, but we dont need to burn every bridge we come by. The phone will be out soon, only a few more days.

Lets clean up our act guys.

The Anthony dude is the tweaktown guy who wrote the article about the 199 dollar SGN...hes not P3...... He wrote it, printed it, signed i,t so no reason to back off IMO

Welcome to AF Rico I hope that pans out for you a lot of us want the same fortune!

I'm still hopeful. I mean, if VZ is selling the accessories today on telesales that has to mean the device is coming soon right?

Evening everyone.

Sadly I think there's a PS3 vs XBox 360 vs Wii thread that is still ongoing with over 160,000 posts.

I can imagine that 158,000 of those posts are flames in a thread like that. Certainly we can pat ourselves on the back for being one of the most civilized and dignified treads on the Interwebs... everyone here is simply awesome :)

EDIT: Hi Rico and welcome to the excellent Android Forums! Nice to see you posting!

Han, how was the nexus? Impressions?

Well, I was somewhat surprised. I spent a good ten minutes with it, and...

I think I overhyped it in my own mind a little. It's super smooth and fast, that screen is amazing. But I expected it to be bigger.

Isn't that weird? I have big hands, but still, it felt a little small.

I really liked the feel of it, though. Not plasticky feeling, and the contour on the back was really nice.

Although it was a lot thinner than I imagined it would be!

All on all, it's a wonderful phone. I just was expecting it to be bigger.

OT - computer build stuff

I built my pc like 15ish months ago. i7-870 2.93 GHz processor, 96 gb ssd (for windows/programs), 7200 rpm 1.5 tb hd (for everything else), 8 gb ddr3 ram (PC3 12800), Windows 7 64 bit, MSI P55M-GD45 motherboard and MSI N250GTS Graphics card, (already had a power supply) overall I spent about a grand on it and it still runs like a beast.

1: Your still eligible for your NE2 or whatever the equal is

2: Dont trade the OG for peanuts, its still a great backup device

3: VZW gnex is 32GB

:)

Anybody in Loudoun County, VA heard anything about the nexus? I plan on calling the Dulles and Leesburg stores tommorow if nobody else has.

Another one of the long time lurkers deciding to register etc.

Anyway, I live out in Fairfax and I've called the Manassas corporate store and made a visit up to the Fairfax corporate store. Granted, this was 2 days ago, but Manassas told me they had no info on the phone. The lady I met with at the Fairfax store also told me they knew nothing, but she did have a funny look on her face the entire time she was talking about it. She obviously knew more than she was allowed to tell me at the time. I thought I may have just been imagining it, but my fiance actually said as we were walking out. "Well, it was obvious she knew more than she was saying."

Anyway, I might give them both a call back tomorrow just to see what they say. I'll send you a PM. Perhaps we can keep each other informed about the local GNex situation.

I'm a fellow DFW guy, seeking the illusive GNex... I got the same from Grapevine, saying for sure on Friday and to come get it.

Which Lewisville did you contact? I'd like a back-up plan for Friday...

I really hope the nearest corporate store to me has the phone and is willing to show me it. When I called to inquire, some lady answered who sounded like she barely even knew what she was doing (no offense to her). Usually the 20s-30s looking guys know what they're talking about haha.

Wait what's this? You fondled a nexus?

From what ive seen I agree. I would buy a note in a second if it was on VZW. All I do is music/text/forum/IM/movies on my phone. I make maybe 30 calls a month, and maybe use 100 minutes of talk time...

But ill settle for the Gnex

How do I find the equal and make sure the exciting day and a slick rep doesn't let me miss out on savings?

Thanks for the tip! I wouldn't have thought of that, but it's a great idea! Is switching phones on VZ as easy as it was on Helio? Yes.. I said Helio! :P I had the Ocean that I loved but it was too big so I had a slim (forget the name) for when I went out or wanted a badass flip. You could swap phones on the website as easy as a few clicks and seconds!

You may want to do one of 2 things with your Droid:

Keep it as a spare smartphone in case your Nexus needs to get repaired.

Sell it on Swappa, eBay or Craigslist. You'll get more than $16, that's for sure.

EDIT: Hi BPizzle! Great to have you aboard! :)

Nice! I've been building for myself, friends and family since 2004. Another geekdom of mine along with photography, home theater installs and guitar. I just finished up my 2500K i5 build with 8GB, a SSD, a TB HDD, and ATI 6950. I do a lot of RAW work and it's pure joy! Puters are cool
