Verizon considers buying at the 2 year price vs retail a discount. The extra discounts off the 2 year price are the old ne2, loyalty discount, etc. The extra discounts dont apply to iphone due to iconic status. Gnex is yet to be determined.

I am not sure there arent other considerations, as well. But, thats how I understand it.

I was able to do this when my micro USB port stopped working on the Droid after 20 months. I would think VZW CS would be able to answer whether this is acceptable for an iconic device, but note that if you can do this, you forfeit any NE2 discount you may have and there is a $30 fee attached.

When I got the X2, I had to give up my last NE2 $50 discount I could have used (and it's gone, never to be seen again) had I waited 4 more months and I had to pay a "early upgrade" fee of about $30. Aside from that $80 swing, it did allow me to get the contract pricing instead of paying $700.

Are they going to refuse to sell all 4G devices during this time frame?

It seems to me that unless it is policy of theirs to hold sells of 4G phones until there is a functioning 4G network --- to single out a soft opening sell of the GNEX make no sense.
 
Good Morning GNexers! We are one day closer to getting our GNex, whenever that may actually be. I am actually going to guess Monday, as that is the one day this month I CAN'T go get this phone. (actually, I will probably find a way, it just won't be easy). I don't care though, last night's events have convinced me know that I will stick it out. I think it would be an insult to this thread for us to give up now.

I thought considering the horrific news we got early yesterday, we did pretty good... Other than the P3 business, but he isn't really one of us. I thought it was much more civil than it has been on a down day like that. Morning BB!
 
Morning all. Went out with friends last night and didn't check the forums before I crashed for the night. Wake up today to see our Nexie has been removed from the Equipment guide?! Two days in a row with sad news. Hoping the meeting today is good news.

At this point I have mixed emotions for a Friday release. I have a final on Saturday and a final at 8am Monday and then I'm done. Despite my extreme desire to have the Nexus in my hands as soon as possible, the rational part of me knows there will be no studying unless its on the Nexus lol. So conflicted! If it DOES come out, I'm not going to be able to just wait! Gah! They need to give it up today so I have 24 hours of nerdgasm before I'm forced to study.
 
as far as i know 4g is back up right?
so if that's the case and if our theory is right there should be no reason for a delay?
hopefully the meeting that the vzw stores will have is taking place RIGHT NOW or within an hour since more stores in SE Michigan at least open at 9-10.

I'm so sleepy though, got to sleep. set my alarm for 9:30 for a quick check in on the status. i have a good feeling. hopefully i can wake up happy!
 
Told my wife about all the thanks and congrats you guys sent last night...she says thank you but still thinks I spend way too much time checking this thread...I said "honey, just wait until we actually get the phone" :)

I realized that this thread has completely changed my normal morning routine. What will I do when this is finally over?

Anyway I wanted to share the excellent CS I received from the company I ordered my TPU case from.TPU-CASES.COM, - All TPU Cases Shipped Free in the USA

Apparently my initial order never made it past the "received" scan at USPS and is now in limbo somewhere. :( I emailed customer service and not only did they respond within the hour but they sent me another case out the next morning. I was fairly impressed. They told me to send the other one back if it arrives but I will send them the money for both rather than have them eat the cost.

See what happens when CS is good. I will now recommend them to anyone and everyone who is looking for this type of case.

I would think we would hear already if VZW was refusing to sell all other 4G Phones until this issue is resolved (BTW, has it been resolved yet?). I've got doubts that 4G is the issue anyways. I think it's more likely that they pulled the release date on the equipment guide because of all the leaks. However, I'm very doubtful we will hear anything today, and therefore even more doubtful that we will HAVE any tomorrow AM.

Dont get me wrong, I am praying to the nexus god to be incorrect!
 
Good morning everyone. Fingers crossed for some news from Verizon or someone today regaring the plan for tomorrow. Just remember that today is the day of that huge internal meeting so hopefully the date is moved back to tomorrow -- I would love a Nexus in my hands tomorrow.

Let's start the morning out in a positive note! I might call when the stores near me open and ask about getting a razr (to determine whether any 4g device can be bought). They dont open till 10am, by me though. If anyone has a store that opens sooner that might be a good place to start right?
 
While we wait for the inevitable Friday release of the GNex

Here's a picture of Jessica Alba at my companies charity event yesterday that I took with my terrible BB camera. I tried asking her to hold up a picture of the GNex, but the only sound that came out of my mouth was not any discernable language.

Mornin folks. Caught up slightly from yesterday. Congrats to Steven, you definitely deserved it. Guess I'll be calling some stores today, but likely (hopefully) will just stop by one tomorrow after work. Does anyone know if you have to activate a phone in the store, or can you do it later, at home? My wife will be working late and she can't be without a phone (she's getting my Bionic).
Also, saw some of the news about loss of 4G yesterday....I never did and definitely have 4 bars right now. Wonder if it only affected Razrs?
