well i can refute that with a certaintly. a good friend of mine is the manager of a "premium retailer" where vzw phones are sold. earlier this week when stories of the 9th started coming out, i text him and he told me that it was possible but that he hadnt received his stock of them yet. today i text him on the outside chance the he may be willing to sell me one and act like he didnt know of the delay, and he told me they still hadnt received any stock yet, but that he had gotten an email last night notifying him that the shipment was on the way and would be there monday.

I'm not sure how credible your source is but if that is true then maybe that could be the case. But if I were a manager of any store that sold Verizon stuff and knew my job was on the line. I don't care if it was my best friend I wouldn't sell them a phone and saying you don't have it in stock is a good was to side step that situation. I'm just saying.

But it could very well be true. I really have no way of knowing.
 
I just got off the phone with my local Radio Shack. I asked if they had SGN for sale, she told me to hold. Twenty seconds later she comes back and says "yes we do". Not even going to waste my time driving over there. I am sure the system won't even let them sale it. Maybe I'll stop by on the way to the gym.
 
went to a few stores around me, central california, costco, corporate, authirized agent, etc. they all had the phone in stock, they all couldn't sell it or let me play with it. the costco guy seemed to know more than the rest and said that it's cause of the volume problem just like the European one. I didn't argue with him that we don't have those european bands so it wouldn't be that.

Even so that is a HORRIBLE reason for a hard stop sale. This isn't a reason to stop a soft launch were it can be sold by those that do have some stock and just not make it public it is going out the door or do any ads.
 
Did we ever find out what the "special hours" were for tomorrow? My store opens an hour earlier. NOT trying to speculate. Just wishful thinking, and curious what VZW DOES deem worthy of opening an hour early for.

obviously with the internet its always one mans word against anothers.... but i have known this friend for almost 20 years and totally believe him. he sold me a dinc 2 days before launch and sold my wife a tb(that she wound up returning because it sucked) a day ahead of launch. its not a business relationship between him and i, we go have a beer from time to time, play fantasy football in the same league and the like. as has been pointed out by a few others, vzw likely wouldnt delay a nationwide launch because a few stores here and there havent gotten their devices yet, but like i said, sometimes we over analyze everything and the simplest answer is often the correct one.

ive been saying for days.... they are holiday hours, most retail businesses do this during christmas shopping season

I was thinking about the curve today just before the phone was ripped from my hands by those horrible.............I mean........ummmmm..........yea the curve.

Seriously though the curve is very subtle and you don't notice it at first. If you start to think about how perfectly the phone is fitting into your hand though you start to remember the curve is there. It is just about perfect, IMHO.

Im going to have to agree with you. A few of the stores I called said they had one or two. Others said they would let me know when they got them. Although that doesnt account for the reports of phones being sent back unfortunately

That is a good question. Final table of the main event? Aces would be worse because that is a life long goal. The sting would be sweetened by the fact that you would still win over $5M though. The bracelet marks your place in poker history though. Still the wait for the Nexus has been longer than the whole world series so............... I still think getting knocked out in second would suck more than this.

That isn't exactly "evidence" IMO. DL does a good job, and pocketnow also, but I am looking for a screenshot of emails or some document pointing towards the 15th. Otherwise its all hearsay at this point.

FWIW I also heard the manager at my store say the 15th, but not sure where they got that info. Maybe VZW is just calling all the store managers instead of making an official email.

With the total smackdown on leaks and information Verizon has been implementing over the past week or two, it seems highly unlikely that we'll get any email or document screenshots for the remainder of the launch.
