So, then they put it back on hold until enough devices could be received by the sellers? You'd think that business 101 classes teach you to allow ample time to sell this years hottest device WELL BEFORE Christmas.

Or it could simply be that some idiotic exec thought that the RAZR was going to be the hottest phone (vs the GN) and WAY over committed to units, marketing, etc... And all of this really has been to try to save his/their necks with overstock and profits. I can actually hear the product pitch in the board room... "we are calling it the DROID RAZR... not just one iconic name, but two. Everyone will want want one because it is called the DROID RAZR. Are you getting this... we're calling it a DROID RAZR. How can we not sell millions?! I'm a genius!"

I think that vzw employee skipped out on those classes in college lol. Slept through it.:rolleyes:
Plus with the white razr coming out they will have more units sitting around. I dont understand why companies dont release multiple color phones at the same time and not wait. It isnt going to make people wait and buy it(unless it has a fruit on it)
 
I'm going on a driving tour of Duluth area Verizon retail locations tomorrow. What are the chances after a few of these slipped out today and tonight they release the hounds tomorrow?

Google: We're going to keep GW.
VZW: You remove GW or we wont sell them.

No agreement by the 7th, so VZW stopped the release? So, our current wait then end when one of the gives in? Insane, if that is all true.

Epic fail!

I called him back to see if he could check the sku before I make the hour long trip.

He checked and said, "hmm, that's weird, it won't let me sell it."

He also said that it was the only one they had received today. He is going to try again tomorrow morning to check and see, and will call me back.
Dammit all!

There are a couple on St. Anger that I liked but the album as a whole was definitely their worst. I haven't listened to the Lou Reed album. I am kinda scared to. :D

If this is in fact the truth; I hope one of the execs would be frustrated enough after this is all said and done that we get some inside dirt regarding this launch. Of course who do you side with here? I imagine those that wanted to kick the phone out the door were the ones who were saying "eff Google get it out there!" And those that were holding it up were the ones saying "this is wrong and potentially illegal etc. Hold up!"

Doesn't surprise me with Verizon although it is hard to believe that is the case, you would think they would have had that figured out at initial negotiations.
 
I got this PM with pictures from one of our own. I don't know if s/he wanted me to use their name, so I have this person as anonymous, now, just to be cautious. If they want to be public, that's fine. They can do that later. If not, I'll be glad to be a conduit of info.

Just wanted to write a quick write-up to you and let you know that I managed to pick up the Nexus today around 4pm at a Radio Shack.

I don't have a lot of time to write my story out tonight, but the main points are:
1) Activated with no problems, 4G was working, employees were happy, talkative, and didn't know about the phone too much. It wasn't until I explained what the box looked like did they realize they had it in the back (it had just come in TODAY, I was lucky)
2) As others have come tor realize, it was not in their system. They called the manager and then radio shack corporate and they said not to sell the phone and it wasn't for sale. Luckily they agreed that it was pretty ridiculous that they would have a phone in stock, and the fact it activated, that they decided to just sell it to me anyway. Well, I should be more specific, they copied my credit card and drivers license and have my phone number and are going to call me on the official release date to pay for it -- so technically I have the phone and as of right now, it is free.

Other notes/Observations:
No system update upon start-up
Version 4.0.1
Phone is the same as everyone has been saying, absolutely stunning. I've been reading this forum every single day since the youtube announcement. I have posted but only a few times. I love the community here and all the mods have been great.
My only gripe so far -- compared to my Moto Droid the external speaker is very, very quiet. I use the Navigation feature all the time and I am a bit worried. However, the phone is so far beyond anything I have seen (I rented a RAZR for 10 days) that I can't complain too much.

I am going out tonight, like I said, but I will check in tomorrow and if you PM me any questions that people have (by the time I get back there will probably be 100+ pages) I can answer them for you all.

I don't think that would be it. This would be more contractual. Because Google could simply install GW via an OTA after the phone was launched.

I have seen them twice in Chicago, best concerts I have ever been to. I am not just saying that either. They sound amazing live. The next best live band I have seen would have to be Gravity Kills, if anyone remembers them. The energy that these guys would have on stage was truly amazing.

@BB Now that is a great band to see for the first time ticket buyer!
