Im not judging it on megapixels alone, but why install a camera thats "fine" when they could have installed one thats "good" after all it is supposed to be this amazing new phone.

The camera is fine, anyone that judges a camera strictly upon how many mega-pixels it can capture is naive.

To me, you are missing the main point. I'm not asking reps at Verizon to tell me what the big wigs have to tell me.

I want the execs to come down with some type of friendly posting on their website saying "Thank you for being patient.. our target date is: Like you, we are just as excited about this great phone and our relationship with google! Thank you for being great customers and together we will "rule the air".

Something stupid like that. It's a positive spin and it gives us time to stop asking people who don't know the answers.

Trouble is, they've done that and said it would be out by the end of this year.

When Verizon instructs retailers to say "information should be available soon" are they referring to a PR statement they will soon make or just leaked information?

I'm not sure about how true this is but I think there was talk that the reason they used the camera they did had a lot to do with the fact that they were trying to decrease the shutter speed. So it seems like there was a bit of a trade off involved.

Long time lurker and first time poster here. I have a question, can Radio Shack or Best Buy transfer an upgrade from one line to another or does that have to be done at a Verizon store?

If it's the Google Wallet issue that is holding this up we should blame Google. They are the ones that waited until the last minute to raise a stink about it. Probably thought they had VZW by the short hairs.

Huh, jokes on us, the consumer.

Maybe so.

OTOH - maybe Verizon at the last minute said no Google Wallet?

I honestly don't know. I believe little of what I read until everything is corroborated and even then I remain skeptical - but that's just my nature.

I will agree that these big corporations aren't dumb but they do make decisions that seem rather stupid - and that it always takes two to tango.

A very nice guy from Radio Shack just called me and said that I'm on the list, and he's already gotten 4 other calls about it today. (I'd called earlier and they said they'd get back to me).

He did say that the 15th was the day. I asked him how definite he was, and he said "We got an email directly from Verizon telling us that launch day is the 15th."

Does anyone know if I'd be able to use my loyalty discount at Radio Shack? Or is that only for Verizon stores?

take that with a grain of salt I guess. A while back verizon sent out the memo they were to be released for sale on the 9th and here we are.

Just buy the phone and activate it on any line you want to. It's your call. You can do it over the computer or by calling Verizon. Radio Shack can activate it on a certain line and you can change it. They are your phones to do with whatever you please. I hope this helps! :)

It almost seems as if we are just waiting to see who concedes first Verizon or Google. Humble yourselves before the screen of mighty Nexus!:D

imo its them stalling telling their retailers "just hold the stock we sent you until we are good and damn ready for you to sell it"

Ok, Shouldn't we as the consumers have a choice between the two products though? That would seem the most reasonable way to go. Put it out there for us to decide.

So how many people are like me, you take the time to try and be helpful and sound intelligent with a post then you go back and read six times? :)

Boy i feel stupid lol I guess it is just me

Just hit a corporate store. Talked to a CSR and he was very certain of a 15th release date and said they have plenty of stock in the store right now. He even told me the number they received, 30.

As we were talking about the phone I noticed the store manager (his name badge said Manager under his name) standing nearby listening to our conversation. My wife was with me and is also getting a Gnex when they release, I asked the CSR if there was a demo or dummy phone she could hold to be certain it wouldn't be too large for her hands when typing (she is 5' and has small hands). The manager chirped in and said hang on, I'll let you see and hold the dummy phone. So we did!!!!!! :) .........Yeah, she was fine with the size.

We had a very nice visit with the rep and manager.......their opinion for the delay was because of the 4G issues and Verizon wanted to make sure that they gave their techs time to ensure the problem was fixed and didn't return before they put out such an important product. And that is why they puched back a full week.

I cannot over emphasize the certainty that the CSR and store manager had that the phone would be released the 15th.

Big Red is smarter than we give 'em credit for. They have researches who know exactly what the vibe is on the internet. When the Black Friday release didn't happen, they knew they were getting some pressure. The guys who need to know, know there could have been an update along the way stating to be patient and that they can assure us the phone will be out by the end of the year.

Trust me. They have researchers for this exact reason.
