Interesting indeed! I noted this about the author -

This part deserves close scrutiny - a pro-competition e-forum supported by broadband interests.

Yeah, I saw that too. Read his assertions in full, and lets say he certainly put a negative spin on some and outright mis-informed on others.

Hmm... I wonder. Do these people think they are the CIA running Black Ops? I consider this to be highly unethical.

If you find it unethical, take matters into your own hands. Report it. Post it on facebook. Tweet it @bestbuy. I've said it a million times around here - if you want a company to start thinking twice about their ways, call them out on it. Let your voice be heard. They wanted to go to social media to be one with the customers... so be it. :)

Guys - let your voices be heard. You can, as a consumer, make a difference.

I asked if there were any discounts. I was told I could get $80 off if I waited until the 28th. I probably can. BUT my DINC keeps throwing the low app space error even after GB 4.08 build....

Who cares if they go on the shopping spree. You report the transactions to your CC company and problem solved. :p

Unfortunately the process isn't as easy, or as quick, as you seem to think. It doesn't always work out that way, but sometimes it does. Just pointing out an obvious security concern in leaving you credit card information and license information with someone you do not know. :)

What the hell kind of policy is THAT? Lie to customers?!?!

A communication company that doesn't communicate......humph!

Where's the lie? Screen said to say there was no information to share - you probably know all sorts of things that you don't share with others.

And employee confidentiality agreements are quite common.

Works for the feds.

Wait. I worked for the feds, and ... um ... look! Over there! What could that possibly be?

(whew - close call)

I kinda disagree. They sent out a press release and offered a link saying they would offer the phone. I haven't received any official word from that sign up. I just feel, since I was asked to give them my email address, they need to provide me with more information. Or at least be straight with me when I ask about a product they announced and said they would have.

What is unethical about not providing confidential information.

Since there's been no official product announcement, they aren't allowed to either. And it's typical practice that their stock levels are confidential, and not to be shared with customers.

You may not like it, I may not like it.........but in no way is this unethical. Rather its stadard business practice. Don't comment on anything that hasn't been officially announced.

Nor is it "lying". They are telling their associates not to comment.

This is what's wrong with America today! The Corporate stance of LYING to their customer base is accepted as normal policy. Then the young kids working for these corporations "learn" that lying is an acceptable practice and continue the cycle. Why would BB want to lie, what would be wrong with saying "yes, we have them in stock but Verizon has asked us not to sell them until they give us the go ahead"? If Verizon doesn't like the response then eff'em...they just lost 1500 retail outlets! I'm sure BB doesn't make much off of these sales anyway, and it would hurt Verizon much more than BB! This way the 3rd party retailers have a little clout and can help keep Verizon in check. Please don't take this as corporation bashing, I totally believe in our enterprise system, but there are bad companies and bad leadership out there making bad decisions...we need honesty and ethics back in the boardroom!

When people are told that they were sent back.....that is sharing things that are false. The point is they ARE sharing information.....but it's not true. Saying we have no information is completely acceptable. Saying we don't have any in the store (when they do) or we sent them all back (when they didn't). That is NOT acceptable to me. I would much rather be told there is no information over that.

The angry prick manager that chewed me out.....(started out over a non-Nexus issue) told me they didn't even get the phone from Samsung yet........

Going out of your way to make stuff up....stuff that isn't true....not acceptable!

Saying it's coming, but there is no information. Much better.

What if we don't call it lying... yet call it circumventing the lucid truth? See what I did there? I threw some words in there to sound like it's not lying. Technically, if I don't say anything at all, it's not lying. These are all ways I can pass on legal ramifications.

Ultimately, that's what this comes down to, right? That's why I find it funny with today's business. Make sure everyone CYOA, but that doesn't help the relationship between consumer and product. Sometimes being very open and honest can create a bit of decency in the relationship. Instead we get sue happy consumers and covering any potential legal issue businesses.

Huzzaaah!

Case & Point - Dominos. Looks at their ad campaign. They are being honest about their cruddy pizza and the changes they made. It's an awesome ad campaign and has boosted sales for them. Great stuff.

Steinheil screen protectors: doing a quick search I'm finding the Flex Series and Ultra Oleophobic Series. That photo of the older Steinheils showed Crystal Clear Series. Did Flex replace Crystal Clear? I don't want something that will dull the clarity of this beautiful screen.

Red, i actually have them (posted a pic earlier). And i thought the same thing. I always bought the "Crystal clear ones". the "flexible" ones just came out. a couple of weeks ago you could only get the other ones.

So i took a chance and ordered them. Looking at them they are Crystal clear. the box says "will not interfere with screen quality at all".

I would say if there not the actual "crystal clear" ones they are still crystal clear.

P.S. It's nice pretending I'm holding my new phone instead of a protector. the size is real nice!!!!! Much longer than my T-bolt but nice. fits the hand good...

Just wanted to stop by and say hello to you guys. I see that there is another delay possibly due to Google wallet. I was really hoping for Dec 9th release so I could see some happy faces in here. I know this would drive me completely nuts if I was continuing to wait. So far I've been very happy with my Nokia N9 for a couple of weeks now. I am keeping my fingers crossed for all of you for the next week release.

Do you expect anything different from Best Buy? Look how they handle their warranties and especially their extended warranties. Or just Google complaints....

Really it just comes down to the fact that we want some transparency from these companies. Yes, they don't have to offer us jack **** but it would be nice. And I will agree that they are not technically lying to anyone or telling anybody to lie but what they are doing is empowering employees to lie to their consumer base which isn't the smartest thing IMO.
