OT (news):

How the hell does this still happen?

At least a dozen female basketball players at a western New York high school were suspended for chanting a racial slur as part of their warm-up routine, the Buffalo News reported.

The team at Kenmore East High School, near Buffalo, apparently had chanted "One, two, three [N-word]!" for years, to the ignorance of their coaches and school administrators.
The officials only learned of the practice after the current team's sole African-American, sophomore Tyra Batts, was caught brawling with a teammate over the use of the slur.

With one black person on the team?

Has anyone with a radio shack store offered to give them the cash for the device and give them your name and ID and tell them to ring it up when it goes official.

Thought about it AFTER I left the store yesterday...fml. I wonder if I could call today and give that offer to him, lol.

I called my local Radio Shack this morning and they got one in last night. He said that he can sell it to me and im in here now waiting to be rang up. i will let you guys know how it goes.

Everything was going great until he had to call the Verizon rep for help to add a line. He happened to mention that I was buying the only GN they had. At that time the rep told him that he want allowed to yet. He did say the new date its 12/14

I was thinking of trying that when I go into the store to 'pickup' my Nexus but only thing I'm worried about is the lack of receipt you get I mean if it hasn't officially been transacted and recorded basically you have a device that wasn't registered into the system (technically a 'stolen' device I guess) if that $300 in cash suddenly happened to disappear with the sales associate. But then again I'd assume it'd be witnessed and in front of a camera so it could be safe? I am so lost in my tactics in getting the Nexus in my hands and out the store into my home! Must prepare for battle then for WAR!!!

the video camera would be your best friend there.

Is there any reason you need radioshack other than to sell the phone? Can't you activate it from home?

I seriously would go in there with some unique bribery tactics. People are willing to do all kind of stuff for some beer etc.

Or worse - you leave your credit card information and someone goes on a shopping spree online. For a lot of sites all you need is the account number (card #), 3-digit security code off the back, and the correct mailing address - all of which they can get from your credit card and driver's license. Not a very smart idea at all :eek:

What the hell kind of policy is THAT? Lie to customers?!?!

A communication company that doesn't communicate......humph!

If an employee were to actually say what they were told to say, it would not be a lie. Unfortunately, they don't read very well and just tell customers that they don't have stock, which is, of course, a lie.

OT entirely:

I'm off to go look at space for my CrossFit gym. Hope this is the one. Anyone care to send some good karma my way? lol

I'll post how it goes later. Sorry, wanted to share.

As promised . . . The INTERNAL Best Buy document.

Hmm... I wonder. Do these people think they are the CIA running Black Ops? I consider this to be highly unethical.

I completely forgot about the self activation but since I'm new to 4g I heard there was some sim that's included now for LTE am I able to activate that too? I shall first proceed with bribery tactics, then the emotional sympathy tactic, and lastly in desperate measures the intimidation tactic which may and may not land me in jail!!!:p

Well a friend of mine just called and said that he's got this bunny hill at their apartment complex with fresh manufactured snow. They're open for business. I guess I'll at least get to snowboard a tiny bit today, hopefully.

Ugh. Why the frak does Illinois have to be so flat?

Who cares if they go on the shopping spree. You report the transactions to your CC company and problem solved. :p

I thought of changing my avatar to reflect my reaction at being screwed by Verizon.

What do you guys think? Or is the carbonite still the way to go?

Exactly what I noticed yesterday when I asked 3 different stores if they had any Nexus' in stock. None of them could look me in the eye. They all looked down at the floor and said no. Vzw has backed themselves into a corner by shipping stock to stores, then forcing employees to tell bold faced lies. Don't expect honesty and integrity when you force staff to lie and decieve.

Keeping a secret is one thing but due to Vzw's own debacle, they've now pushed it too far.

Keystone tomorrow for me:D

What is unethical about not providing confidential information.

Since there's been no official product announcement, they aren't allowed to either. And it's typical practice that their stock levels are confidential, and not to be shared with customers.

You may not like it, I may not like it.........but in no way is this unethical. Rather its stadard business practice. Don't comment on anything that hasn't been officially announced.

Nor is it "lying". They are telling their associates not to comment.
