***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I am having a hard time understanding how VZW can block google wallet. My understanding is the only thing VZW has to do w/ the phone is selling it on their network. Hardware is by Samsung and software is pure ICS so unless VZW is saying you can't have NFC on the phone how can they really block it.

So Wallet is not on the phone when it is released Google just pushes an update w/ Wallet on it or unblocks VZW ability to not let you download it but as far as truly 'blocking' the app that is outside of VZW control.

Now if you were to tell me VZW was telling Google that if they do just this they are not selling the GN on their network and please sign on this line, well I get that kind of 'blocking' but frankly I can't see Google letting the GN get raped like that and signing such an agreement but you would have thought this is something that has been discussed and agreed to prior. It isn't like NFC was just sprung on VZW after all.

Just thinking in my head but not entirely convinced this is the hold up but if it is don't see VZW negotiating from a strong place. The flip side is I know VZW is a stubborn mule which means we may not actually see the GN at all. :(

Pretty much sums it up.

I just heard that if you use over 2gb a month in data and don't have a 4g phone you may qualify for 100 off any 4g phone at vzw. Supposedly a flier went out in the mail. Just fyi and ymmv

Still trying to get my upgrade date moved up...anyone have any tips? I sent 2 emails and got a call back but ihavent been able to connect with the rep that called me. Called and left two voicemails...no return call yet.

How far out are you? Usuallly won't get more than a couple weeks unless you have some kind of loyalty thing.

video from the phone is pretty painful to watch because of the distortion. I felt like I was watching the blair witch project on acid. I don't really use video all that much, but I hope this is something that can be improved via software

They will probably hook you up when you make the purchase. I haven't heard of anyone having a problem within that two week window.

I hope so...I'm planning on going to the vzw store tomorrow to make sure. My worry is that they are going to pull the crap they did with the iPhone and razr, where they won't allow any early upgrades at all.

Been more or less lurking for the last couple days grazing over posts just waiting for something official. I've found it hard to really become engaged in this thread lately because of the tone its taken on. It is not my place to judge or stomp in with some self-righteous rant, but I do have two questions to pose (and I'll provide my own thoughts in an answer):

Why are some folks getting worked up over semantics?
These associates have a job to do and at this point in the year it can be a tough job (I've been there, many times over many years). I think many people are genuinely interested and frustrated with the situation. But still, I think others are pushing-- thinking they hold some trump card. Hoping they rant and rave enough to get their way or back an employee in to a corner where the outcome results to their liking, regardless of the real world implications or facts. Some people here are calling out VZW, BB and RS for deceptive and unethical behavior while at the same time trying to lure employees into selling a phone that is explicitly NOT for sale, which could result in drastic consequences for the employee (whether they're aware or not). How is that ethical?

Finally; why do some act as if they are entitled to all these answers, and that VZW OWES us something-- OWES us this phone?
We are getting worked up and angry over something we're not even supposed to know! We have gone behind their backs, solicited private information, put peoples jobs/livelihoods at risk to obtain said information that was NEVER meant for public consumption. And NOW we're mad? NOW we're blasting THEM for unethical behavior?

No, there is nothing wrong with a consumer who wishes to be informed. But lets face this fact: what we know, we were never supposed to know. With out this knowledge, we would never be where we are right now-- calling out employees for saying they don't have stock, (which who knows, maybe their shipments haven't arrived), or denying they have information on the phone even though we've seen screen shots of their systems.

Again, there is nothing wrong with a consumer who wishes to be informed and gathers information. But just remember how we've obtained this information and try and exercise more reasonable judgement when calling for peoples heads. We're all frustrated, but I for one, will continue to wait as patiently as I can... and hope my current phone doesn't kick the bucket before it lands.

thank you for putting my thoughts into words. this is pretty much exactly how i've also felt the last couple hundred pages here.

edit: also bumping this so people can/will see it before it gets lost.

I had more luck calling than emailing. They tried to get me to buy a razr and I just said I would wait for the SGN.

I have found phone sales to be way more helpful than brick and mortar. There appears to be more flexibility when on the phone. I have found one CSR in the three stores in my area that knew what they were doing. Just my two cents. Good luck.

4.0.3 went out yesterday morning around 7 AM

A user here, GMK83, has a test unit and told us all he got the update. With everyone frantically trying to find out stores who might sell it early yesterday morning, everybody kinda breezed past his post and it was forgotten about.

To me, that piece of news is extremely significant. He mentioned it was an update that corrected some LTE issues. Everybody here is obsessing about Google Wallet that they either didn't see or didn't think that Google pushed out another update and this is the BEST possible, logical explanation for the additional hold up.

I posted a link to the specific post here last night.

Stopped by our local Radio Shack today after brunch. After a couple questions, the store worker said, "yeah, they're in the back, hang on a second". I got really excited. Eventually the manager came out and let me know, yes they have them, and no we can't sell them yet. He gave the reason being G Wallet, and I let him know I've been reading about. Said, likely the 15th, but he wasn't positive. Said he definitely was getting it to upgrade from his Nexus S and that there wasn't a ton of questions about it in the store.
Hopefully I'll have it in hands by Thursday!

I actually vaguely remember that post. edit: I think the thread here was aware of the update but it became old news rather quick. So if LTE was in fact the issue, and it has since been resolved, anyone willing to speculate that we could see a shotgun launch prior to Thursday?
