***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I remember BestBuy received that letter of confidentiality procured into it, if I managed to snag me a Nexus from a BestBuy retail store where I know the employees are least likely to read anything they receive. Do they get fired for selling me it?

Or would it not ring in the system at all since that notice was passed around they probably took it off right?

I went into a Radioshack and a Best Buy and both of them said they would receive a $10,000 fine for selling a product before launch. I don't know how true that is but it was funny within 15 min I got the same answer. They said that goes for any store or retailer selling anything before launch.

when i managed Sam Goody during the time we were owned by Best Buy, this was what we were always told. it applied to all items with a hard street date (games, phones, cds, movies, etc.)

Not sure if this came up today or not since I haven't been on much. But what are the chances at least one retailer like Best Buy or Radioshack "accidentally" has the Galaxy Nexus in their Sunday ad?

Was just in Best Buy and they still have the same Decembers buyers guide that was leaked a couple weeks ago with the "Nexus Prime." I thought for sure that would have pulled.

I've been following the thread in a browser on my xoom. Would you recommend the app over browser on a tablet?

Use the browser IMO. I installed the app on my HP Touchpad and a Acer Iconia and things went haywire quick. like the entire device would run at a snails pace right from boot. It was aweful. I use the Firefox beta and Aurora Beta. i love them both, the best tablet/windows browsing experience. I will be honest though. The browser version SUCKS while posting. No matter the browser the text field wont prompt autocorrect or auto capital first letter after a period lol ... its a PITA.

FURTHER ON TABLET TALK....

I tried Google Currents tonight and OMG its my favorite app now. I follow about 30 feeds with greader and i liked it. but google currents takes the feed info and formats it in a eReader style, very very crisp and provides an experience that surpasses a web browser... Great work Google

purchased my tpu case today on ebay..supposed to arrive on teh 15th...perfect timing?! lol At this point I just want to be able to buy the damn phone. With no limitations

Well that's good to know. If one of us wins the lottery, we can buy the phone early for $10,299.

Tablet talk: How do you like the HP TP? You running Android on it?

the time to bail would have been black friday weekend when the rezound was $50 at costco....we've gone too far now. besides I wouldn't leave verizon. they always sucked you know what at phones but they've always been good at the network.

Actually in my experience Verizon is just better at telling us their network is better. I've had just as many dropped calls and lost data connections on Verizon as on AT&T and I've even seen locations where my work AT&T phone has signal and my Verizon one doesn't.

If I bail I'm going to bail on Verizon since they are the problem and not the phone.

So, since I have a good buddy who is a Manager at my local VZW Corporate store, I stopped by this afternoon and spent twenty minutes playing around with "The God Mighty Nexus" (her term, not mine).

Pros:
Big, beautiful display on a phone that doesn't FEEL that big.
The "swipe to dismiss" feature in ICS is kind of AWESOME.
The ability to create folders on the fly on any homescreen is a GAME CHANGER to put it mildly.
The camera is fast, Fast, FAST!

Cons:
For regular "Joe Q Public" users or non-tech people, the software buttons are going to be a BIG learning curve
The Headphone jack on the BOTTOM of the phone?? WTH, Samsung?!?!
Although the camera IS fast as all get out, the pictures are average at best, washed out colors with no "pop" at all.
Even with 32GB on board, I HATE the lack of an SD card. I wouldn't buy a computer that couldn't accept a bigger hard drive, after all....

After my 20 minutes of hands on playing time, I had some quiet time at home. Kids out and about, wife at her "employees only" company Christmas Party, and I thought it over. I mean really, REALLY thought it over.

I waited so long for this phone. I was obsessed with getting this phone. I HAD TO HAVE this phone, and ONLY this phone. But after rolling it around in my head for a couple hours, the decision was surprisingly EASY for me:

I am KEEPING my HTC ReZound. I don't want to seem like a traitor here, and I have the utmost respect for those of you who have hung in there, and are still hanging in there, for this phone and this phone alone - I am not going to tell you that I think you are wrong - it truly IS what VZW calls "An Iconic Phone", and for those of you who waited, I don't think you will be disappointed.

I just think the HTC ReZound is a better phone, or at least a better phone FOR ME. Your mileage may vary (and it probably will), but I, for one, am glad that I finally got to SEE the Nexus, play with the Nexus, and put it through it's paces - it really is quite the badass phone and had it come out in early to mid November, I would have bought it on launch day and never looked back.

Thank God (for me, at least) that it did not, because I have never been as happy with a cell phone as I am with my ReZound, even if it does weight a TON more than the Nexus, and the weight difference is VERY noticeable....... I am keeping my fat, bass-rocking Beats girlfriend, and I have nothing but the best wishes for all my forum friends as you set sail with your thin, sexy Samsung Supermodel!!!:D

BTW - my Mgr friend tells me that:

A) the latest delay is due to Google wallet, period end of story and:
B) This phone WILL DROP on DEC 15th, book it, DONE.

It's been one hell of a ride, and I'm glad I got to take it with Steven, Han, BB and the sexiest vampiress EVER - Hugs to everybody and I hope we can all see one other online once in a while once this thread closes!!

Peace, I'm out, the BEATS are calling my name......... Luv ya guys!!!!!!!

Gotcha, for some reason I got the idea that its very easy to tell whats going to happen in each episode of burn notice.
I've seen an episode or two. I typically like shows that have full plots though so I don't get into things like that as much.

Of course, don't you have urls memorized?

For $125 i paid for my 32GB you really cant beat it. Mine is actually going back to HP for warranty work. Im having screen banding issues. But its still 2.3.7 so its like a big phone to a point but running CM7 is awesome because of the tablet tweaks mod so it feel like 3.0+ with software buttons. I really love it though i am going to sell it for a 1st gen transformer. I love the keyboard dock and the feel of it. My tablet replaces my laptop so its a biggie for me.

I tried it, and it was not clear to me that it took my feeds. Is there a way to import them automatically, or do I have to do each one manually?
