Exactly, but the nexus is more for capturing everyday things. Matias Duarte himself said they skipped out on the fancy features and just created a basic and fast camera to catch every moment. If you want to take the perfect picture, get a DSLR.

Not sure if you guys have seen pix from the Rezound, but they are pretty amazing. I had the phone for 2 weeks and I was stunned by the quality of the pix...heads & shoulders better than any camera phone I've ever used.

Surprisingly though the videos were pretty bad.

So, since I have a good buddy who is a Manager at my local VZW Corporate store, I stopped by this afternoon and spent twenty minutes playing around with "The God Mighty Nexus" (her term, not mine).

Cons:
For regular "Joe Q Public" users or non-tech people, the software buttons are going to be a BIG learning curve

I just think the HTC ReZound is a better phone, or at least a better phone FOR ME. Your mileage may vary (and it probably will), but I, for one, am glad that I finally got to SEE the Nexus, play with the Nexus, and put it through it's paces - it really is quite the badass phone and had it come out in early to mid November, I would have bought it on launch day and never looked back.

Thank God (for me, at least) that it did not, because I have never been as happy with a cell phone as I am with my ReZound

Peace, I'm out, the BEATS are calling my name......... Luv ya guys!!!!!!!

Would you please elaborate? I keep reading things along this line and it makes me wonder if this is even the best choice for me. I'm NOT a tech person. I can't tell you how many times dh has had to help me out with my computer. He's not a phone guy has never helped me with my DX, although I've never really needed any help. But is the GN going to be harder for people like me to use? He would never let me hear the end of it if I bought it and couldn't figure out how to use it. Do you think the Rezound is a better choice for the average consumer?

If ICS is like Honeycomb, which it looks like it is, there will be a slight learning curve. It's still Android...some things are in different places and there is advanced functionality but it's still Android.

Earlier this week the redirection was to go to sign up page. Then it went to a white/empty page. Then VZ fixed it to redirect to sign up again. Now today's it's doing the 0 results shopping page.

Understood, it was just a fix in the making not an indication the phone is any closer to whatever it may be closer to...

I am critical about putting quad-core processors in smartphones. When quad-core processors were first used on laptop computers, they were marked impractical for mobile use due to their ridiculous power consumption. This is why we currently see quad-core processors only in high-end gaming laptops that were never made for battery life.

That is more an issue of finer grained power management than quad-core, per se. The idea is to independently throttle the cores on the new phones thereby allowing better performance when needed and battery life otherwise.

i thought the same thing. then i read about ARM's big.LITTLE concept (where you have two weaker A7 cores combined with two powerful A15 cores) and ARM claims that such a SoC would actually improve battery life over current dual cores. I dont really know the technical details 100% because im not that smart, but it sorta sounded reasonable enough.

edit: read above post for better explanation

What does it mean from a business perspective. Is this traditionally what happens just before a "Soft" release? I'm not implying, I don't know.

So, since I have a good buddy who is a Manager at my local VZW Corporate store, I stopped by this afternoon and spent twenty minutes playing around with "The God Mighty Nexus" (her term, not mine).

Pros:
Big, beautiful display on a phone that doesn't FEEL that big.
The "swipe to dismiss" feature in ICS is kind of AWESOME.
The ability to create folders on the fly on any homescreen is a GAME CHANGER to put it mildly.
The camera is fast, Fast, FAST!

Cons:
For regular "Joe Q Public" users or non-tech people, the software buttons are going to be a BIG learning curve
The Headphone jack on the BOTTOM of the phone?? WTH, Samsung?!?!
Although the camera IS fast as all get out, the pictures are average at best, washed out colors with no "pop" at all.
Even with 32GB on board, I HATE the lack of an SD card. I wouldn't buy a computer that couldn't accept a bigger hard drive, after all....

After my 20 minutes of hands on playing time, I had some quiet time at home. Kids out and about, wife at her "employees only" company Christmas Party, and I thought it over. I mean really, REALLY thought it over.

I waited so long for this phone. I was obsessed with getting this phone. I HAD TO HAVE this phone, and ONLY this phone. But after rolling it around in my head for a couple hours, the decision was surprisingly EASY for me:

I am KEEPING my HTC ReZound. I don't want to seem like a traitor here, and I have the utmost respect for those of you who have hung in there, and are still hanging in there, for this phone and this phone alone - I am not going to tell you that I think you are wrong - it truly IS what VZW calls "An Iconic Phone", and for those of you who waited, I don't think you will be disappointed.

Thank God (for me, at least) that it did not, because I have never been as happy with a cell phone as I am with my ReZound, even if it does weight a TON more than the Nexus, and the weight difference is VERY noticeable....... I am keeping my fat, bass-rocking Beats girlfriend, and I have nothing but the best wishes for all my forum friends as you set sail with your thin, sexy Samsung Supermodel!!!:D

BTW - my Mgr friend tells me that:

A) the latest delay is due to Google wallet, period end of story and:
B) This phone WILL DROP on DEC 15th, book it, DONE.

It's been one hell of a ride, and I'm glad I got to take it with Steven, Han, BB and the sexiest vampiress EVER - Hugs to everybody and I hope we can all see one other online once in a while once this thread closes!!

Peace, I'm out, the BEATS are calling my name......... Luv ya guys!!!!!!!

I think it is great that you have had a chance to compare the two and decide which you like the best.

I found the Rezound to be an excellent phone and I really hated to return it. It was the phone that I was holding out for before I got a fever for the flavor of a Nexus. While the Beats audio didn't really do anything for me (reminded me of a Loudness button on my old car radio), the update to Sense, amazing screen and speed of the Rezound were really nice. It only took about 3 or 4 minutes of playing with the Nexus though for me to know that it was the phone for me. The biggest thing for me was the feel of the phone in my hand. It just fits in a tactile way that the Rezound doesn't.

Now, if the Nexus has any reception issues then I will be jumping back to the Rezound in a second because the reception on it was really nice.

Even as I sit here and wait for the Nexus, I'm glad that we have the option of 3 really impressive phones.

I've been back and forth with walking away with the Rezound. It's a very sweet phone. Screen is beautiful, reception is excellent(sis and others have it in this area) and has a solid feel. But, I really want to wait and see if the Nexus "is all that". I mean, I (we) have been holding out on this one for months. Now, what I may end up doing is porting my line from Sprint to add another line to Verizon to have both the Nexus and Rezound. I've kept my fun phone and biz phone on 2 different carriers intentionally. But in the face of becoming a tech junkie I may play the act of desperation. We'll see...

I think it the same idea as how they are making trucks with v8 engines but they get they same fuel consumption as a v6. I forgot what truck company is doing it but I saw it in a commercial.

Got the Sunday paper with an 8 page glossy insert for VZW. No mention of the SGN. Also no mention of the Xoom2, which was just released. Thunderbolt and Bionic were both in the ad.

so we hit the 5% jackpot? the 2 outer on the river? what does your corporate friend have to say for himself now? lol

I guess if you had read what I posted an hour after that post, you would know what my friend said.

As for now, he said what everyone else said. The 15th looks like the date now. He also said that the OS doesn't have anything over-layed and it isn't as easy to use. Said that you have to be really commited to learning this devise.

Can anyone shed any light on this statement. I didn't want to keep bugging him so I didnt ask.
