Good morning Gnexers! Well down to 5 days until the next target date is reached. This the really the last date acceptable for me. After that I am on vacation,and am really going to lose interest in all things phone related, as I spend time with my family. On the bright side I will have a little extra Christmas money for accessories right after I get the phone if it holds up.

Here is another person saying this isn't easy to use. Are you all sure this is a good choice for a non-tech user? Will this be similar to navigating my DX or will it be much more difficult to use? :confused: Would the Rezound be more user friendly? I want the latest and greatest phone, but some of what you talk about on here is over my head. :o

Im using ICS now. It is easy.

A rep said it doesn't have a skin so it is hard to use...if you learned how to use your Droid X you will probably be able to learn a Galaxy Nexus.

But if you are really that worried pick up a RAZR or Rezound...keep in mind they will, in theory, get ICS at some point.

I think he told you since it's not skinned (Sense, TouchWiz, Blur...) it's not easy to use.
 
Wow, this thread is dead today. Oh well.

I bought another gallon of lactose-free milk last night. Expiration date says 1/18/12. I told my wife "Hey, I'll have the Nexus before this milk goes bad!"

She said "That's the exact same thing you said last month. And you'll say it again next month."

I didn't disagree.

SO whats new besides Google Wallet being the delay? :confused:

Not that I care about it... there's only a handful of gas stations anywhere around me that use that payment system and I don't use them :rolleyes:

So, do these skins you all complain about make them more user friendly? I don't want to buy a phone that will be difficult to use. Is this going to be a phone for you super smart tech types only?

Some may think they do...but they also kill the performance of you phone

And I don't think you have to be super smart tech type to use this phone, the OG Droid had no skin and it seemed to work okay with non tech people.
 
Just called best buy, said they haven't "received them yet and it's been pushed back a couple days". Thought I would try for fun right?

I wouldnt take it that far, It will be a learning curve somewhat similar to say going from sense to motoblur. nothing as drastic as iOS to Android though. I would say it would act normally but to get the phone set up to you liking could take a while maybe 2 days or so or longer depending on how much you tinker.

The real question is do you want a phone to pick up and use or do you like to tinker? Also what would you MAINLY be using this phone for

Also in case anyone missed my post last night about Costco bundle confirmed from employee bundle includes car charger case and 3 screen protectors $289.99 price and should be available on launch day. They had them in stock at local store

I think the basic functions of the device will be as easy. Android allows those who want to control aspects of their device, to control it. If you don't want control, I don't think it will get in your way

I think that if one wants a "pick up and use" phone, grab an iPhone.

This has been my fear all along...that I have waited 2 months and will spend $300 for my first Android phone only to find it frustrating to learn how to use it!

I wonderif they will be online since you don't have to be a member to order it there. My friend who has a Costco membership isn't available the 15th

When i first converted from iOS to android man it was a steep curve, but you learn and go at your own pace figure things out plus there will be a great support group to help you along the way. You have to ask your self is the features included in this phone what I need? Or is the Hype leading the way for "wanting" the phone so badly?
 
On learning ICS...Android isn't a hard OS to learn in general, and ICS has streamlined a lot of things. With that said, if you just want a phone to be a phone, then you're probably looking at the wrong device in general. The Android world allows for a lot of customization. If you're willing to explore and poke around in stuff, you will get the full experience of the phone. I tell this to people all the time, if you want to learn more about a device you've gotta poke around and not be afraid you'll break it. Companies don't put things out for the mass public that are going to break at every turn, and chances are you aren't going to break your Nexus just by hitting the wrong button. Learning tech is just trial and error. If you don't want to put the effort into making your device truly yours, then apple has what you are looking for. iOS is extremely easy to use and its pretty much impossible to break for the casual user.

It honestly depends on how much effort you are willing to put into learning your device, and how important the customization is to you. If you're looking for the simplest device to learn, you're probably looking at the wrong phone. If you don't mind spending a day or two messing with your phone to figure it out, then you'll be just fine.
