Root [ROM] CyanogenMod 7 Huawei M835

I think it's funny we figured it out before PG...but the thing is I'm getting a new phone Friday either the indulge the wildlife s or the admire (which my grandma currently has)
 
Screen density can be set in the build.prop ;) metroff is n has been on my wiki ;)

What are the screen rotation issues (havent read back)?

And good for yall for figuring b4 me lol, as I havent had time to work on it ;)

Good to see sum1 pick the ball up n run with it ;)

now just figure out how to incorporate it all into src for a proper build ;)
 
well as for the rotation...the screen doesn't go into landscape mode if u turn it while text browsing etc...however heres a little trick if u want it in landscape to txt or browse. just go in to any app that forces the screen into landscape like the camera...exit and everything will b in landscape then browse or txt...to get out of landscape just lock the screen back and draw ur pattern etc...also in cyanogenmod setting->display-> uncheck 180 and 270...because it will put ur everything in landscape but if u hold the phone while in camera upside down and exit ur screen will b in landscape just upside down...s0o0o PG...wanna buy a m835? so u can fully experience the s***tiness of this phone...any ways whats up with cm7 wildfire s...i saw a few roms but i don't trust other devs roms...urs work...and by work i mean they dnt brick my phone...and other than the known issues they're pretty stable...idk jacksh*t about developing...so i know how to make it work but i dnt know y it works... so ur the best out and even tho u dnt have a m835...u still put a lot of effort into getting this thing going...so for that i applaud u...keep it up!

I just got CM7.2 (Gingerbread 2.3.5) working perfectly on my Huawei M835, Wifi works right out of the box, however the screen resolution required a quick fix.

WHAT YOU NEED

M835 Already rooted, If not rooted.. please use Gingerbreak to Root your Device.
ROM Manager
CM7.2 ASCEND ROM 09132011 DOWNLOAD (EMAIL ME DM47021@HOTMAIL.COM FOR LINK.. WONT LET ME POST IT HERE
(yes, it is a Huawei Ascend rom.. i have tested this and run it on my phone. Wifi works.)

Install like you would any other rom
Wipe data/Factory Restore
Advanced--> Wipe Dalvik Cache
Wipe Battery Stats
Mounts and Storage--> Format Cache
Install Zip from sdcard-->Choose zip from sdc.. select the rom you just downloaded
install rom..
after install stay in the clockworkmod recovery
Advanced-->Fix Permissions
Then reboot system now

once you have booted into your new Gingerbread system, enable wifi.

Next you need to download App Brain.. its like the android market.
search for LCD Density for root.. its free, download and install that.
set LCD density to 110. reboot method should be Kill

there ya go, now you still need to re-install Gapps..
and install through the rom manager..

its kind of a pain, but you have to set the screen density everytime you reboot..

let me know how this works.. :)

Forget about that screen density 'fix' you posted bro
just get an app that allows you to change the build prop such as rom toolbox or countless others and it will be changed permanantly.
Thanks for the info now im backing everything up (apps, contacts, and my current mate35 rom) and im going to check it out.
Honestly i hate the landscape mode so im stoked it doesnt work i been having to use this app Rotation Toggler to stop it from rotating

Can someone help me out here cause everyone I go into Tom manager and change my LCD density and hit apply it reboots my phone and my lcd density doesn't change it just stays all big and ****ed up so I gotta do it manually every time. Someone please help me!!!!! Lol,so frustrating!
 
Get root explorer and go into the system folder, hit r/o at the top then long press the build.prop and edit text. Then find and change "ro.sf.lcd_density= " and change it then save and exit and reboot your phone.

if you read the original threads you guys are basically doing what i did from the jump flashing the ascend rom and changing the lcd density thats how this whole thing started we were just trying to finish a full port but it looks like that will never happen moved on to bigger and better things by now
 
Ok for all the people having issues trying to change the screen density or for all the people that find this on google here is a download link just I fixed the Screen Density in the build.prop for people who didn't know how to do it everything works perfect by the way thanks Dm47021 for instructions on how to insalll, PlayfulGod for the Huawei M835 port of CM7, and AesopRock for the links to CM7 and Metroff. In the last couple days we have made real progress toward a full port for the M835.

I Have been cooking up a new version of the ascend rom for the M835.

Lcd Density Permanently fixed in the /system/build.prop file
Rotation (Landscape mode) Working in all directions
Device now shows up as M835 not M860
Some speed tweaks done in /system/build.prop
Jit VM Heap set to 35m instead of 24m

Adobe Flash player 10.1 (armv6) Yes you read it
Swapper: Use swap file on sd card for virtual memory
ROM Manager 4.8.0.6

Isent metroff supposed to fix the mms problem?cause any time I try and send a large text message or receive a large message it doesn't work. I get that little red triangle that pops up and the. "Error, message not sent " notification. I'm confused what does metroff do?

You also need to go into your SMS app's settings and select "Split message over 160 characters"

Thanks to playfulgod/the Cyanogen project for writting the Ascend rom this is based off of. without you this wouldnt even be possible
 
as for a propper wifi fix for the M835.. Couldnt we take the wifi driver from the ascend rom and re-compile it into the M835 port? Just something ive been tossing around

for a 'proper' port it needs to be built from src. Not saying how yall are getting it to work is wrong, but is referred to as a dirty port. you all have done a great job and if you make some notes of what files you swapped out I will try to get the src setup to build properly for it.

Then let one of you who feel like taking it over can ;)
 
Once i get my linux box set up, i will gladly take it over.. need to do some more research and set up the propper compilers and so on. iam sure you could assist with that. just i know you have bigger and far better projects to work on, but as the m835 is all i could afford at the moment. i will gladly test roms and such. actually i was going to ask if you would allow me to almost take over anyway lol. today i am working on Fastboot/hibernation for M835-dirty1.1 lol not an official name, just sayin...

at some point i would like to set zipalign for the entire system for better memory managment. since 176mb ram is not much

I dont know why, but i keep seeing in other forums people want to install the stock metro pcs apps on cm7.. well here they are..

use root explorer to create a folder called cust in the root of your phone... unzip and copy this metro pcs folder into the cust folder.. then navigate to cust/metropcs/us/app/ and install the apk files.. this containt everything from my m835 on stock rom..
