Does your contract HAVE to be expired for any of these coupons to work? What if I was opening a new line on my account?
Okay I successfully got the discount added to my account and posted the info yesterday, here is a link to the post

http://androidforums.com/3621974-post76006.html

If you are interested in the actual email I sent to Verizon to get the discount it was short and simple

No negotiating or anything, they just added it to my account, although when I went to a premium reseller yesterday they could not see anything listed, but then again it was the same day as it was put on the account.

If updates are not going to come directly from Google (read: sans MASSIVE big red delays), then this phone just got a whole lot less appealing to me. Can anyone confirm this rumor? If true, then the nexus is just another 1st gen LTE device with terrible battery life. CES anyone?

-me

Cant claim this as proof one way or the other, but the LTE Nexus checks for updates at every boot and has a separate update utility. Somehow, I doubt it's checking verizon servers...but I might be wrong...

Like everyone else, I am excited about the release of the Nexus. I have been following this release since the Galaxy s2 days, and then when we thought the Samsung Function would be the new secret phone to make up for Verizon not carrying the s2. I then followed both the nexus and the droid prime forums. I have been waiting on this phone for months.

As excited as I am, I cannot in good conscious, go to any store and attempt to get them to sell me a phone early. I know that if I was successful I would potentially be trading that person's job for the opportunity to have my phone 4 or 5 days earlier.

I am happy for those that received their phone early, but I hope that your good fortune didn't result in some great misfortune for the people that sold them to you.

Exactly! Take some time off of this place and go spend some time with your families and friends today!!!! :-)

I'm doing both - spending time with family and keeping up here. Oh, and doing some shopping too. :D

How is it the tech illiterate get these, and we have to wait.

Because we're not trying to get anyone in trouble. (And I'm not saying that cggorman was trying to get anyone in trouble)

That's the only reason I haven't gone to try my luck at all. I don't want to get anyone in trouble.

I texted back:

She said yes.

:(

Thanks for that Han. Took me a minute to register who was talking - you're back in blue.

Do you know how to use tcpdump/wireshark?

Does your contract HAVE to be expired for any of these coupons to work? What if I was opening a new line on my account?

All the information I have is that I am still on contract with a date on my account where I get an additional discount being 1/6/12. My tries to move that discount date up all met with failure. The actual anniversary date for my current contract is not till May, but they always make the date when you get your every two a few months earlier. Although those are my dates my account does show that I have the subsidized pricing available, plus an additional $30 discount (employer related).
So my contract is not expired, and I have no idea if it will work on a second line or not.
Hope that helps.

That first page is the page the demo unit I handled went to when I tried to open the browser. I thought I was doing something wrong and opening settings. I'm blown away that the phone was pulling that up off the internet as fast as it was. I didn't even notice a downloading progress bar. Wow that phone is fast.

OT -- warning, this is a long and sad story about my absence over the end of the week. Please do read it though because I have a really important message at the end I want to share!
Friday was possibly one of the worst days of my entire life. One of our puppies, Lucy got very sick very quickly. I thought it was just from her vaccines, but after a nap with her Daddy, she wouldn't wake up so I rushed to meet them at the vet ER. She declined very quickly and suffered multiple seizures as we learned her liver was failing and so was the rest of her tiny body. She was only 7.5 lbs at 13 weeks while her sister Scout is a healthy and hearty 12 lbs. Lucy was also suffering from an extremely severe gastrointestinal infection, the worst the emergency vet said she had ever seen. We took her in around 4 and by 7, we had to put her down. We are devastated as you can imagine. I haven't stopped crying for more than 20 minutes since Friday night.
When we got home after, our first concern was our other puppy and how she would handle it, we started talking about when we might be ready to find her another sister. I realized that we didn't know the adoption status of two of their sisters (2 of the other girls and the 1 brother were adopted around the same time we brought Scout and Lucy home). Apparently Lucy's former foster mom had the same idea - she sprung into action and arranged for us to adopt one of them at no attentional charge. So yesterday morning, we bravely faced that decision.
When we saw the two girls, we realized how gravely ill Lucy had always been. Her growth was clearly stunted by whatever disease had destroyed her liver. They were big happy healthy puppy girls. We brought home one of them - we have named her Boo. She has been a blessing - she's literally perched on my shoulder right now as i lounge on the couch typing this. She's so affectionate and reminds us so much of Lucy - but she has quickly become a wonderful playmate and companion for Scout as well. Scout is still struggling somewhat. She whined liked I'd never heard her before when her Daddy just left, I can't imagine how sad she would be with no sister by her side.
It's going to be hard for a while, especially seeing Lucy's grave outside and seeing so much of her personality in Boo, but we feel so thankful that she chose us to be her parents while she was on earth. We are so blessed to have been able to give her sister a home too.

But there is still one of their litter mates left in foster care, so in dedication to Lucy I have made it my mission to find her a home for the holidays! And in the end, that is the reason for this very long post, so I hope you have made it this far!

Please have a look at Jambalya!!

If you don't live in Michigan, please pass this along to anyone you know who does! She is a healthy, happy, loving, energetic girl who is great with other dogs and cats. She seems to really like kids too and I bet would be the perfect first dog because she always wants to play. She is almost completely house broken as I understand as well. Jambalaya is about 13 lbs and 13 weeks old, so a bit bigger than the picture on her website. She is also all up to date on her shots (so she only needs one more round of boosters and a rabies shot this year). If you live in Metro-Detroit you may recognize the name of the rescue because they were some of the leaders in the Save Ace campaign.

Anything you can do to help me find this little girl a home would mean the world to me under these circumstances.

Also, not sure how to upload a photo? I'd love to show off the last one of me and Lucy so you can all see what a loving baby she was.

If you made it to the end, thank you for reading this. I guess my Gnex puppy photo comparisons will be a little different now.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My fianc

Just for the record, I'd like to say that when i walked into that store on Friday morning the dlay was still rumor. The 15th hadn't even been mentioned. I didn't coerce, negotiate, pout, or otherwise talk the sales associate into doing somethjng against policy or his conscience. In fact, when I walked in and he asked me how he could help me, he brought up the nexus before I did...because it was already sitting in the stock with my name on it from two days earlier. I got lucky. Nothing more. Had he thrown up his hands or begged off at any point, I wouldn't have pushed it any further. I stayed anonymous until this morning in an effort to protect that guy and his store. Only the email.from verizon brought me out. Without it, i had every intention of staying anonymous until the phoe was officially released.

Just got back from the Best Buy I went to on Friday (guy had told me they had lots of the G-Nex but the computer said the 11th). The guy I talked to today flat out said "We don't have it. Nobody is selling it." It was worth a try, I guess.

Just watched one get activated at rs. Their only one. Then when time to ring up, cashier calls manager on his cell and says "what? Why didn't you tell me?" Poor guy had to do a factory reset and give it back. I left. Didn't want to watch the continued disappointment. Poor guy. I must say, the size and display are amazing!!

At macys. Realizing I can't fill a nexus sized hole with boots. Don't know how y'all did it...

I'm attempting to fill my Nexus-sized hole with York "pieces" - you know, those little M&M like things? They're delicious.

Sadly, I still feel like the world is against me, because my OG Droid has frozen 4x today already...

I see too many posts where the 15th seems like a certainty. It has not been confirmed by Verizon, last word we have from them is there still is no date. So, while there may be hope, please what we don't need is to jinx another date.

Church is over, lunch is eaten, now off to Radio Shack to see if they are as good as their word. Here's hoping my next post comes via Galaxy Nexus. Happy hunting my friends.

No joy but no surprise either. Spoke with the same man I spoke the same guy I spoke to on Friday. He apologized profusely and said he told three different people to come in today and pick them up. He said at closing on Friday they had a meeting and found out Sunday wasn't going to happen. :(

I'm so sorry for your loss. My fiancée and I went through something similar in the beginning of November. We got 2 pure bred Russian Blue kittens from a licenses breeder at the beginning of September. They were brothers. At the end of October, Octavious (the older one) got sick. Took him to the vet and he got put on antibiotics. He wasn't getting any better. Took him back to the vets and ran some more tests. Turns out he had FIP a fatal disease :(. We had to put him down because he was declining so fast. Has to be the single hardest thing I've had to do in my life. We still have his brother (Fievel) he tested positive for the disease as well but he could just be a carrier. Only time will tell. The pain dissipates after a while but I still think about him everyday.

Mods feel free to hide this. I have no clue how to.

Sorry for your loss.
Were you able to determine where they picked up the disease, and unless you were able to determine it was not at the breeder's did you let the breeder know of the problem in case they had unknown problem at their facilities that could infect their other cats?
