Promo apps on Market for $0.10

At $.10 a game its a steal! Everybody should be buying up all the games they can!

The games are varying everyday so remember to keep going back to check on the Android Market. If you're only interested in games then you can check out this AndroidGamesReview.

They have a record of the latest and the previous games on offer. It seems as though they've put some games on offer twice, so if you've missed any then they might come on offer again if you're lucky!

Nah, I'll pass on the games. I have two games on my phone and that's plenty. I don't care to use my phone as a game console.

I've downloaded a few of the games. I got Minecraft to see what all the fuss was about. I don't get it! Why does everyone love this game so much?? I don't even know what I'm supposed to do!

Other than that 10p per app is brilliant :-D

I appreciate anything Google gives us.... 10cents applications - how can you beat that, oh! Yea, 5cents. :)

They are defininetly repeating themselves. I suspect by day 10 they'll all be repeats. It seems like of the 10, at least 2-3 each day are repeats. Not sure why.

Each day there's 2 or 3 repeats of the previous days. :/ Kind of cheeky of Google.

So, looking at the new games today for $0.10

Roll in the Hole sounds like a cute and fun game to play. Well...I'm not going to download after reading the permissions:

This application has access to the following:
Your location:
coarse (network-based) location,
fine (GPS) location
Network communication:
full Internet access
Your personal information:
read contact data
Phone calls:
read phone state and identity
Storage:
modify/delete USB storage contents modify/delete SD card contents
System tools:
prevent device from sleeping
Hide
Network communication:
view Wi-Fi state,
receive data from Internet
No games should require my contact data :/ I'm going to email them to see what they are going to say about the contact info.

What's wrong with these apps. Why do they have bloody unnecessary permissions.
This is for Block Breaker 3 Unlimited:

VIEW WI-FI STATE

SYSTEM TOOLS

DEFAULT
MODIFY SECURE SYSTEM SETTINGS
Allows an application to modify the system's secure settings data. Not for use by normal applications.

This app seems like it wants to take over my bloody phone!!! The app is only 1.3MB in size, so I doubt it's that CPU intensive that it requires to KILL my apps.

Flick soccer reviews for the past 3 months have been pretty bad with over 50% complaining about long lag issues.

Super KO Boxing hasn't had much reviews and 4/5 are bad for the past 6 months.

Don't seem like I'll be downloading many apps today.

I've been wondering this also. I'm new to Android, but I don't get why when I download something whether a game or not the app wants me to agree to permissions that make it seem like it's touching and taking over every setting in the phone. I've hesitated on a bunch of apps I wanted to check b/c they all had ridiculous permissions and agreements if I wanted to install. Actually that goes for pretty much any app I've downloaded. I'm used to Apple's and Cydia etc stuff where you just install and that's it... why do games and other apps need contact info, or gps/modifying settings etc that have nothing to do with any of that stuff???

The apps in Apple's Appstore would have similar permissions but you don't see it. These apps are approved by Apple, so you just hope that they have passed the screening process. With Android, Google doesn't really screen the apps that go on the market. Google expects YOU as the user to screen the apps yourself. They made the apps more transparent by showing you what permissions they want and why.

I would recommend you read this Beginner's Guide to Android: http://androidforums.com/android-ap...ps-avoid-viruses-guide-those-new-android.html

For me, games should have only these permissions as I understand what they are for
-Internet (ads, Faint server)
-GPS (targeted ads...yuck but it's used for free ads based games...so something you gotta 'live' with if you want to use the free aps. I don't want to see this permission with a paid app though)
-Phone calls: read phone state and identity (to see the state of the phone. I have issues with this permission as there are TWO kinds built into one. Apps reading phone state is fine but I don't want it to read phone identity (phone number, IMEI and such)
-Storage:
modify/delete USB storage contents modify/delete SD card contents (move to SD option)

Any more than this and I start to question the app.

Surf1, if you have any other questions about permission, I would suggest you post in the thread I linked :) The OP is a great at answering questions.

I feel the same way also. After the last few days I hope something useful pops up that hasn't already been offered. I do appreciate what they are doing but it should be all new apps each day or keep all others offered at ten cents until it is over.

I hope we get some more utilities apps. I'm quite games out right now. I only download the games to keep the little ones entertain...or off my back.

New promo apps including doodle jump block breaker. The flight control is free but you need a data connection to get it working. Its DRM'ed

Yeah there have been only a couple quality utility apps and I missed the the first day which had the best apparently (swiftkey Sketchbook etc)

Ah man only found out about this today.
Got beautiful widgets.
Hope they'll re-do SwiftKey.

Pep

More non-games than usual but the repeats ruin it. Beggars can't be choosers I suppose.

HD Widgets
Instant Heart Rate PRO
Flight Track
Train Conductor 2
Where’s My Water

Repeat Apps

Flick Golf
Slide IT Keyboard
Sketchbook Mobile
Christmas HD
Shazam Encore

I picked up HD widgets since it was just a dime, haven't compared it to beautiful widgets yet. Also got instant heart rate (I already had the free version and liked it)

Does HD Widgets have as many skins as Beautiful Widgets. The only difference I could see is that HD has setting throttle widgets.

How accurate do you find the Instant Heart Rate? I found it interesting that it uses the camera to take a picture of your finger to tell you about your heart rate.

When I had the free version, I tested the Heart Rate app against my mom's blood pressure monitor. The rates were only different by a couple of ticks. So I say it's pretty accurate. I just bought the pro version for 10 cents :D
