Why would a dev put an app for free on something like GetJar if they get nothing out of it?
Follow along with the video below to see how to install our site as a web app on your home screen.
Note: This feature may not be available in some browsers.
I gotta say, after finally getting getjar to work and download beautiful widgets. Don't care for it, wish I could find a widget that was so cool looking and smoothly animated on the home screen (kinda like htc sense) like the custom widget (buuf) I have on my iPhone, and not by clicking to go to a different screen etc. Didn't care for Beautiful Widgets after the hype, don't get it? Plus Beautiful Widgets isn't even accurate, it's storming out all day and just started again yet it says it's partly cloudy, and the temp doesn't update to the correct temp (and yes I have the settings right as my city name shows lol).Actually they just added the feature recently to facilitate updates.
Good News Everyone: Update Notifications For Android Apps Are Coming to GetJar GetJar Developer Blog
I recently listen to a interview with someone important at GetJar (I think the founder) on All About Android. Something interesting he pointed out is that they actually pay developers the full price for every app downloaded from them. Apparently this is something Amazon doesn't do (do not know about Google promotions or other app stores).
At the end of the day though - if the only thing I'm losing out on is updates, I'm happy. If the app works and is free then who cares if it doesn't get updated (well at least as long as no major security problems are discovered). If an update is released I feel I have to have - well I'll probably be more inclined to actually buy it then. However as I pointed out - even that shouldn't be an issue going forward.

So, I got this email from Google Market telling me that I can install my failed purchase free of charge. Too bad I bought these apps when the market worked.

Is The SIMS 3 not available in the US? I get the "This item cannot be installed in your device's country." message on 2 different phones.
EDIT:
If I search the market on my phone, it's not there, if I search for it on the web market, it's there, but I get the bad country message, but if I click through the $.10 promo banner on my phone's market, it is there and let's me buy/install it.
Wasn't Asphalt 6 on sale on the first day?
Drop 7 is more then worth the 10 cents. Best app today.
WAAYY to many games the last two days. I wish they would drop more utilitarian apps. Today I might pick up slide it, apparatus, and drop 7. I dont really play too many games, nor like slide keyboards, but I'll give em a go for a dime.
Maybe it needs that to add your contact names to the dictionary?I just checked SlideIt permission and it requires 'read personal data-contact data'. I am not bloody sure why a keyboard would require this permission. Using a keyboard is risky enough and requires a lot of trust by the user of the developer.

So we don't have the official list yet, but SimCity Deluxe is on sale for 10 cents.
I was hoping to see a EA sale from 4.99 to 0.99, but at 1/50th the price, I'll grab it no questions asked.
EDIT: Spoke to soon...

They won't even let me buy it :-(
i have been buying a lot of the deals.. and not even use the apps.
at $.10, how can I not?
some of these have been on Amazon's Free App of day!
Maybe it needs that to add your contact names to the dictionary?
