Dumb question (This is going to be my first android device).. if the nexus doesn't have an SD slot how can you use Titanium Backup? Is there cloud OR USB support? What is a general backup strategy for devices without external storage support?

There is a folder named sdcard that performs the same function. USB file transfer is supported thru a protocol called MTP or Mass Transfer Protocol. Its plug'n'play on windows. I moved around more than 25GB last night of mixed file types. Don't sweat it.

Off-topic Walking Dead:

I know, I was really bummed to find out we have to wait until next year for more episodes. GRR!

OT:

Did you see the end of the last episode coming? It completely caught me by surprise. My girlfriend and I looked at each other and yelled "NO F'ING WAY" when she came out of the barn.

How fast is the internal storage? I'm curious how its speed compares to class 4/class 10 SD cards.

Long time lurker, first post. I love/hate this forum (love the people and conversation, hate the situation) much like all of you.

I have to say that all of this shadiness and lack of information from VZ has made me start to second guess how good this phone is actually going to be. I actually started to read up on the Rezound since I have a DINC now rooted running MIUI and I love it! A little concerned with the Rezound not being perm-rooted yet though and I wonder is that going to be the norm now where VZ and phone manufacturers lock down their phones to the point devs just don't care to break them and everyone just buys Nexus'? Is that the real draw to the Nexus that it is the first ICS, fully rooted and gets updates straight from Google? Also the camera is getting mixed reviews...fast but pics not great which concerns me because I usually hate the camera on my DINC...especially when it needs a flash.

Maybe all the waiting is making me skeptical...help talk me off the ledge!

if the Rzound had perm-root, i'd probably be enjoying it now and not going thru this pain and suffering with the nexus. i've heard great things about the Rezound radio and it holding a 4g signal real good. that and a nice display ...the rezound is nice. i just hope the nexus can hold a 4g signal as well as the rezound.

imo, the nexus' biggest draw is vanilla android (and the benefits that brings). nice display too ..

Slightly OT-

are there any Dinc ICS roms? I only say slightly off topic because i know lots of people in here are dinc owners looking to upgrade to the nexus....

Yes there is a stable ics rom. Full touchscreen. Hardware accelerated. Working data and wifi and bt. Dont think camera works..

Check out xda

Wow, nearly 1 PM EST and no PR yet. Slow news day then for Verizon.

At this point, I'm taking NO NEWS as good news. I've grown so accustom to hearing that there was a PR and no mention of the Nexus that I'm actually happier with hearing that it at least WASN'T passed up again today. Gives me hope. :)

Now, when there is a PR, I'm praying that the SGN is included.

I just called 3 different corporate stores in my area and all 3 willingly told me the Nexus would be available on the 15th. That is the date barring any last minute VZW shenanigans!

The latter is what's keeping me from fully accepting the former. I believe Verizon fully intends to release it on the 15th for sales- I really do. I cannot accept that, though, based on the history this device has trailing it.

If VZW were to come forth and state that the week push is due to supply issues, I'd be much, much closer to acceptance.

They said it was originally scheduled for the 9th and had to delay the "official launch to Dec. 15th", and to begin selling units at all locations upon opening Thursday morning.

Like I said, FWIW... could be guys jerking me around, but they seemed pretty condident, as if it were common knowledge.

Usually you have to pay extra for that kind of action hiyoooooooooooo

I really need a new phone this fascinate keeps freezing multiple times a day!!!!!!

I also got a call from a VZW account rep regarding my email about the $100 off a 4g smartphone, she didn't know of anything or any promotions like that, I told her I was looking at the mailer in front of me and she said she couldn't do anything because the only thing I'm eligible for is the regular upgrade pricing since I'm currently month to month.

Looks like I'll be calling back to get a different CSR till I get what I want.

OT: i've rewatched the last 8 mins or so like ten times, that whole last segment is so powerful

Tegra 3 phones should be coming out around March IIRC, those phones will likely be made for ICS. It's only appeal to me now is it's a Nexus phone that will get updates first.

Because when the latest and greatest phones are first announced next Spring, Verizon will be quick to release them. Just like the Droid Incredible, Thunderbolt, Bionic, Galaxy Nexus, Droid 4... And Verizon always gets the most advanced phones, like they did with the Galaxy S2.

Just because a phone gets announced doesn't mean it's instantly available (especially with Verizon). If you follow the recent trends with Verizon, a flagship phone announced this spring would likely not be released until summer at the earliest, if at all.

Well guys, I jumped off the crazy train here.

After doing a bit of research with some people in the know, I have decided (for now at least) to skip the GN.

Went to Costo yesterday and picked myself up a Droid Razr. Loving it so far.

Good luck to you all this week, but for me, it was time after all these months to bow out.

Cheers.

This. If the nexus can't hold 4g like my rezound then i will go back to rezound.

As much as I want to take it as a sign, I still don't think we'll hear/see anything substantial till tomorrow.
