Who's ready for Nexus time Thursday?

Personally I will be jumping ship to the Rezound because my current phone only has a 14-day return period. If this Thursday doesn't pan out, I only have until Monday then I have to make a decision or else I risk getting stuck with my LG. :(

But otherwise...YES. :D

Check your receipt you should have until mid January to exchange or return.

Well guys, I jumped off the crazy train here.

After doing a bit of research with some people in the know, I have decided (for now at least) to skip the GN.

Went to Costo yesterday and picked myself up a Droid Razr. Loving it so far.

Good luck to you all this week, but for me, it was time after all these months to bow out.

Cheers.

Ha ha! You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders - The most famous of which is "never get involved in a land war in Asia" - but only slightly less well-known is this: "Never go against a Sicilian when death is on the line"! And the even less well-known is: "Never let a greedy corporation bully you into purchasing a phone you don't really want." Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha...

Precisely, but March is 3+ months away, not 2 weeks away. I don't see how people can say the phone will be outdated if it comes out on 12/31 instead of 12/15. Seems like hyperbole to me. *shrug*

Also, when these phones are announced in March it is not like you will be able to walk into Verizon or another retailer the next day and take one home. Its been 2 months the GNex has been announced and here we are still waiting. If you add 2 months to next March then you are looking at mid May, maybe June.

Love that movie!

FWIW I just called my local corporate store. He said the release is at the end of the week, I said i was concerned about stock if I should come in before work. He said don't worry about it we have plenty of stock back there. woot.

He actually said the day was friday but he didn't seem real sure, still hoping for thursday.

The point is, why get the phone on 3/31 when you can simply wait a few months and get a better phone?

The point is, why get the phone on 6/30 when you can simply wait a few months and get a better phone?

The point is, why get the phone on 9/30 when you can simply wait a few months and get a better phone?

The point is, why get the phone on 12/31 when you can simply wait a few months and get a better phone?

Before you know it, you've pissed away an entire year by not being able to poo or get off the pot.

Personally speaking, I have been doing this for two cycles now due to the Bionic debacle. At this point, having 4G will be an absolutely massive upgrade for me, regardless of hardware.

i understand this argument if people are waiting to get a better phone simply because it's "better". however, the argument doesn't stand up under all circumstances. for some, their personal needs/preferences may require certain hardware/software. if a phone coming out in 3 months better serves those needs/preferences, then why not wait?! but, if their phone isn't really working well now, and a phone that meets their needs/preferences isn't coming out for another 6-8 months, then maybe they might have to "settle"/"get by" with another device that is available now.

as long as you're not waiting simply because you want the next best thing, it all comes down to personal preferences and needs.

Aww. We'll miss you!
If you need that wallpaper resized shoot me the dimensions and I'll happily get it to you.

This. If the nexus can't hold 4g like my rezound then i will go back to rezound.

I have heard so many similar things about the Rezound...I think I am going to go check one out. Thanks for the input.

So I guess I never really paid a ton of attention to the new phones and if devs eventually broke through and obtained perm-root...I just assumed they would always find a way. Does anyone here have any input on that assumption? I have heard Moto is the hardest to break...did they ever get it? Is the consensus that the Rezound will, at some point, be rooted? I just really like the options of custom ROMS, kernels, etc.

Actually after hearing about build quality and reception, I decided to jump ship. Moto is king of radios that is for sure.

/part of the reason I got the Razr.

Truth be told, its an awesome device.

As much as I want to take it as a sign, I still don't think we'll hear/see anything substantial till tomorrow.

I believe you are right.

Anyone else having a hard time with idea that days are only important based on when we might hear news about this phone? I mean, in my head (for the last however long) I've been saying on Sunday nights..."Okay, tomorrow is kind of useless cause we wouldn't hear anything until Tuesday anyway." I've been writing off Mondays and Weekends for a while now.

I feel like I've been living for Tuesdays and Thursdays forever. Not good.

Just a common courtesy, but if you have Walking Dead, Dexter, Boardwalk Empire, etc SPOILERS, please hide them - thats what the /-hide- tags are for.

Thank you.

You should know that people here are way to busy to spend an few seconds on topics that aren't even tangent to the purpose of this thread, section, or even forum. Just hope they don't complain to no end that people asking for such a courtesy be banned for making it harder to see their water cooler talk.

And of course, a significant influencing factor is that we all know that CES is only 1 month away (exactly 1 month actually)... Who knows what revolutionary device will be unveiled, leading us to wait 8 more months (like the Droid Bionic) or buy the next revolutionary device that still fails by the wayside (Palm Pre anyone?). So, I didn't fall for the Bionic, but I did buy the Palm Pre, and loved Web OS, but... :( So many buts... So, for me, I'm not waiting for the CES. But I can see why someone might want to wait one month, given that they've already waited this long...

so .. the reviews i read were true, huh?

they said it's 4g signal was strong and stable. based on my location, that is important to me. i've messed with the rezound a few times .. it is a niiiice phone. would be extremely tempted if permanent root was gained.

I'm playing complicated mind tricks right now, convincing myself that this Thursday is definitely not going to happen, so in the chance that it does- all my previous frustration toward VZ will we wiped away. :)

In my opinion, If we dont hear an official announcment by Tuesday 2 p.m. E.S.T. We can forget Thursday the 15th. Am I wrong in thinking that even a soft launch needs a maximum of 1 full days notice?
