***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Just wanted to report in from Pensacola, FL: I went to my closest corporate store to play with the Rezound (beautiful screen, but no permanent root and the fact that I'm tired of Sense after owning both an Eris and Incredible are big strikes against it). I asked the rep when the Nexus would be released and he responded "The 15th, definitely. Get here when we open up that morning and we'll set you up." He said that that store didn't have any demo units set up yet, but he had had hands on training with the phone and loved it.

Usual salt intake required, but it's one more point for the 15th.

I have 2 questions about exchanges...

I know that VZW only offers 1 exchange, but I'm not on their network now. I was going to add a line on my husband's Verizon plan to buy the Nexus. But now that it's getting pushed back again and again, I'm contemplating buying a rent-a-razr now to secure myself some double data for when the Nexus does come out. (just in case)

So questions...
1) If I decide for some crazy unlikely reason that I like the razr more than the nexus after trying both, can I close my line and open a new one to go back to the razr? (obvs if double data is gone by that point I'd have to give it up) I use google voice as my phone number so I really don't care about porting my number...

2) We've got til mid-Jan to return the phone - do we also have that long to cancel the contract? If I go and buy a RAZR on the 15th and trade it in for a Nexus on the 31st, and then end up having problems with it or the network, can I still cancel my contract in early Jan?

Or do I need to ask Verizon? I kind of feel like I'm better off getting an accurate answer here...

so what will the pr2011-##-##.html most likely be for the Galaxy Nexus?

Ohhh okay, I read your post wrong! It'll be dated the day it's released most likely, that's how every other PR is done!

Just called my local radio shack, He said they will be allowed to sell them starting sunday, He said that news came straight from Verizon..... Grain of salt

I emailed verizon about getting the $100 discount....no dice...not for my region

even though i've been with them for years, haven't had a 4g device, never made a late payment, and been due an upgrade since july....oh well

My guess...pr2011-12-12%.html with a posting tomorrow. The % being a wild card on what letter it may or may not be.

Oh boy, hopes are high for the 15th, just like they were for the 9th. Let's hope it doesn't all end up in disappointment just like last week. Not getting my hopes up here.

I have seen a few different websites offer unlock instructions, including this site. Every one seems to have a few different steps, and some members here prefer one over the other. I am not a complete newb and have rooted and messed around with my X without bricking it, but this appears to be a little more involved and god forbid I brick my Nexus after waiting 2 months for the damn thing. Can someone link up the easiest steps?

Since Lte hasn't come out yet, are current links for GSM and do they work for both?

YouTube video instructions maybe?:o

This post will be updated with changes as they emerge. There are basically 6 steps to root, and a few of those can be reduced if you use the one-click method (this post gives alternatives depending on experience/personal preference) -

Rooting either the LTE or GSM versions involve the same steps.

It will be for the day it comes out. They aren't going to make themselves look bad. I guess I should say worse.

Not every other, I think there's been at least a couple instances where the PR date was actually a couple days old before showing up on Verizon's site.

An example:

however the date in the article is: 12/06/2011

and an even better example:

Oh damn you have done your research! Lol...Who knows, at this point I wouldn't be surprised to see this as the heading of the article:

"Wee Gotz Yur Nexuzziz Nowz, Come nd Getz Em"

Spoiler?? The episode was a couple weeks ago already...not like I said anything not already known and out there. lol

OT spoilers (not that it contains spoilers but that it is on the topic of spoilers)
It's not known to those of us who don't have cable and have to wait til the second season comes to Netflix!

You can pretty much assume that any crazy popular show like this has people that want to watch it, or are not caught up if it has been in about the last 5 or so years. (Example, those of us on here who just started watching burn notice now that it finally came to netflix...) After that point, feel free to spoil away

A tid-bit,

  • I called Verizon and confirmed (in my area = N. GA) the taxed amount is on the sale price, not the full retail.
  • My local Corp Store has no interest in taking my number or holding one.
  • I have called every possible resource about a 3G to 4G $100.00 discount and my BS call still stands. I hate it though.
  • I'll be on the side walk outside the V store @ 8:30 AM Thursday with a StarBucks Quad-Shot Grande Latte in hand unless Jody or a subpoena arrives and has me occupied.
