Help Bluetooth Audio (A2DP)

Hey guys. I just got my GN from Verizon and I am loving the phone. I have come across one issue though. I have a few bluetooth adapters attached to some old iPod docs. They worked wonderfully with my Droid (CM7) to stream music and podcasts.

For some reason, I can pair my GN with these adapters and I make sure the "Use with Audio" option is checked, but no sound goes though. The sound turns off on the speaker of the phone, but it doesn't give me an option to adjust the "Volume through Bluetooth" like it did on my Droid.

Is anyone streaming music through Bluetooth? I know the phone has A2DP so it should work.

Thoughts?
 
I have a set of bluetooth headphones that supports A2DP, so if you don't get a response by the time I get my phone tomorrow I will let you know.

Awesome. Thanks. I just hope I don't have to return the phone... They were sold out and i rather not set everything back up.
 
Hmm, mine work fine, I have a Samsung WEP870. Actually, they work better with this phone than any other phone I have ever had, my notifications will reduce the volume, and play through the headset, never did that with any of my other phones. Could be because they are Samsung tho... (In fact, the earbuds that come with the phone, are identical to the ones on my BT headphones...
 
That's odd... I reboot this morning and it works now. Must have been an app I installed messing with the volume. Thanks for checking!
 
I use a bluetooth headset as well as SYNC in my Ford F150. This worked flawless with both my OG Droid and Thunderbolt, and Galaxy Nexus... until this morning. When i paired my phone to my truck this morning, it worked at first, but then stopped. Same issue... it said it was paired (hell, the phone even played volume through my speakers), but my music/podcasts would not play any audio through the truck speakers. I am going to try and play with settings and reset the bluetooth link this afternoon, but if anyone knows a reason why this is happeneing, i would be VERY greatful!
 
After first initial setup to your car or the bluetooth adapter. Turn the car off and on or take the adapter out and plug it back in and it should work. For me it works great now ... soon as I get into the car it starts playing music & I love it!

-I use BMW bluetooth for calls & Tunelink bluetooth adapter for music*
 
OK... I was able to replicate the issue. I have two Bluetooth adapters - one in my car and one in my house. When I switch from one Bluetooth connection to the other, the audio no longer works. It is fine after a reboot though. Can anyone else test this?

it is all good now. if it does act up, all it takes is a reboot of the phone. no problems! Nothing better then streaming some Rdio or Stitcher podcasts via SYNC in my truck.... especially on the Nexus!
 
I have a Parrot Asteroid head unit in my truck that supports A2DP and have no trouble syncing my phone and streaming Pandora while I drive.
 
I think the issue I am having is stems from switching BT adapters. It sounds like a software issue, so I am cool for now.

How do you like the Parrot Asteroid? I'd love to have an Android receiver for my car. I'm currently using a Sony Xplod DSX-S300BTX, which handles A2DP & AVRCP fine, but once again it would be nice to have an Android receiver.

Does it work good? Is it slow or laggy? Is there anything missing that you would like it to have?

It works very well. The only thing I would say is slow about it is the start time, when you first get in your car it takes about 20 seconds to boot up. I'm really glad I bought it but a couple things that are irksome. First, the random song feature is anything but and doesn't remember the last song played so each time you start the car is starts at the start of this non-random playlist. Second would probably be the aforementioned bootup time.

They do have an active develpment team so I would imagine these issues will be addressed in future patches. It does support A2DP and the sharing of the data connection from my SGN, something my OG droid did not support.
 
I use a Motorola roadster and the nexus will connect to to it but can't play music from it...any ideas?

You said it supports A2DP but does it support AVRCP (Audio Video Remote Control Profile, i.e. using the receivers buttons to play/pause/skip/scan)? If it does support AVRCP, which version? 1.3 or above would be nice as 1.3 supports metadata and 1.4 adds browsing connected devices, and searching them.

I don't even know if ICS supports avrcp 1.3 or above. the way to tell would be to download the music app PowerAMP, turn on scrobbling, connect via bluetooth to the receiver, and see if the song info shows up on the screen when you play a song. If it doesn't show up, then either ICS, the receiver, or both don't support AVRCP 1.3.
 
Ive been playing around with poweramp and while I can play/pause and change tracks from the head unit it doesn't seem to share metadata like album art or song info.
 
OK... I have figured out the issue. While it seems this problem is exclusive to me, I thought I would share what is going on.

The Nexus has an issue when you leave the field of one Bluetooth adapter and try to connect to a new adapter. You get no audio. The fix is to remember to disconnect any Bluetooth adapter manually after you are done using it, and then you can connect to the new adapter without issue.

I know it seems like a bit of a pain, but you won't have to reboot to re-establish audio with a new connection. I hear 4.03 will have some BT fixes. So, I hope that this won't continue, but at least this fixes it in the interim.

When you say "disconnect any Bluetooth adapter manually" would you mean... flip my headset switch to off before turning off BT on the phone?

Disconnect the adapter in the phone. Go into BT Settings and click the BT adapter that is currently connected. That will then ask if you want to disconnect.
 
My gnex skips every 30 seconds or so. It works fine on the first connection, but anytime after I have to either reboot or remember to toggle Bluetooth. I have a kenwood deck with a parrot bt adaptor.
