Google Wallet - No Root Needed :)

Okay....Which is better, d/l it to the phone directly or email it from the computer?

Copying the apk file onto the phone via USB might work better than trying to install through email, although both should work.

I think I downloaded directly to my phone and installed it that way.

I'm kinda concern that if you lose your phone and someone gets it they can just use it to buy things with it? Now I'm sure most people don't know about it but some do. I do have the phone to be unlock by pin but it's still a concern. Is there a way to force an addition pin on it to make purchases?

This is a concern of mine as well.

Thanks. I will try it and let you know how it goes.

UPDATE: I reinstalled the apk and it worked perfectly! I got the $10.00 free card and can't wait to SPEND IT! Thanks so much!!

Thanks for this file! I went to the link right on my phone, installed it, activated the prepaid card, got my $10 bucks and used it in my office vending machine. Worked very well. At first it wasn't doing anything then I realized I had to enter my pin before tapping.

Here is a scannable image that will link you to the download, in case it helps.

Is there any risk using this app since its not "officially" supposed to be on this phone and had to be modded to do so? If it was a modded flashlight app I would not ask but this app will have access to very sensitive information.

What's the word on this concern? Since Wallet isn't officially sanctioned for the GNex, what are the possible risks?

This worked great this morning at the vending machine. Used the free $10.00 from Google. I love a free soda on a monday morning...Thanks Google!

Did anyone's phone seem to slow down just a tad after installing google wallet or am I just imaging things? I used the link in the original post to download the file.

No dice here. Installed with no issue, $10 prepaid is set as default.

Woke up the screen and touched to the module at a CVS - nothing happened. I didn't think to try and unlock the screen.

I'll try again later at a different location.

I had the same issue. Then I unlocked the screen and found the pin prompt. I didnt realize you are supposed to unlock the pin first, then within the time out period you have set, wake the screen and tap.

This works great. I used it at Best Buy yesterday and 711 this morning. Very easy to use and takes a lot less time then using a credit card.

Can you explain this more? The exact sequence you did when you got to the register?

I haven't had a chance to try yet. Wicked jealous of people with vending machines that have paypass. :) I never carry change or cash on me, that'd be so convenient!

I went to Mcdonalds to try out my GN with Google Wallet. When I place my phone on the sensor It immediately started "sending" and the sensor lights were flashing, but after about 45 seconds of "sending" I lifted my phone off the sensor and replaced it, and it just kept sending. After about a minute, my phone showed "sent" and the cashier looked at me and said "what do I do now"? LOL. I said "I have no idea, this is my first time using this." She asked her Manager and was told how to complete the transaction. It took longer than I thought it would, but it was still kinda cool to pay with my phone.

Unlock the phone, place the phone near the credit card scanner. The phone will vibrate and go into Google wallet and ask for your pin. After you put in your pin it will tell you to place it near the scanner to complete the transaction. Its as easy as that.

Cool. Did you use something like this [QR-Code Generator] to create the QR code? I found the site doing a Google search. I could find this very useful.

Yup! I used QR Code Generator: QR Stuff Free Online QR Code Creator And Encoder For T-Shirts, Business Cards & Stickers

Well i actually used it with a vending machine, but same concept. First, I tapped - no go, then I unlocked my phone and launched google wallet...It had a pin pad already up, once I entered my pin, I tapped again and it worked. I did some more research and realized my setting had the pin timing out after 5 minutes. So in essence, your Google Wallet account needs to be activated first, by entering your pin. Depending on how "secure" you want it, you can have it time out as soon as one min, all the way up to 30 minutes.

The two times I've tried it now, I unlocked the screen first (using face unlock) and then touched the paypass pad. Immediately, Google Wallet prompted me for my PIN. I pulled the device away from the pad and entered my pin. The app asked me to touch the pad again to complete the transaction which I did. At one location, it went straight through. When I tried it again this morning at a different location, it asked me for a pin or to push cancel for credit. I cancelled and it went through fine. I read somewhere to use credit if asked when using the Google prepaid card.

Now - the two things I want to try later are:

- Seeing if I have to unlock the screen or if Wallet will pop up anyway.

- Seeing if I open Wallet, unlock with my pin and then touch the pad, if the transaction goes straight through. You might as well do this if you are waiting in line to pay.

Just did my first transaction at a BP. The lady behind the counter thought I was doing something illegal and hacking her machine. Thanks for the cigs Google.

Tried again with an unlocked screen. After hovering the phone on the paypass at a 7-11 for about 20 seconds, google wallet appeared, made a DING! and said "Sent!".

I pulled my phone away and the screen would switch to "the paypass is not within range, please try again"

So I tried it again and held the phone for a good 25 seconds, the screen held at "Sent!" and did nothing, so i pulled it away and gave me the too far away error again.

So I paid with cash instead.

I really need to try this somewhere when there isnt 5 people behind me in line...
