OK, this is probably a stupid, stupid question (so please bear with me) but will all my Google services still be integrated if I go with Sense UI? ie gmail, gcal, contacts, tasks, picasaweb, even google reader etc? How does that work? Will they still sort of "sync" with my phone...ie will the calendar/contacts actually be available "locally" on my phone as opposed to having to connect online every time I want to get a contact's info?
I believe so. Sense UI doesn't really change anything to Android OS. It's just a GUI overlay you can say and makes everything look much cleaner and nicer. It provides some better functionality like the keyboard is much better than stock android but it pretty much has everything the stock Android has with better things here and there.

Basically, yes everything should sync up, i could be wrong though.

Yea your alone......most of us would probably prefer AMOLED. The vivid colors and just beauty in general is astonishing. When you compare it to an LCD side by side, there's absolutely no competition. Everything looks that much more crisp also.

If you want to view it in direct sunlight, wait for the Samsung Bada with it's new Super AMOLED which greatly enhances it's viewing in direct sunlight.

I prefer AMOLED though and they have 4.3 inch AMOLED screens, where did you get the fact that AMOLED only went up to 3.7 inch?
For cell phones there are no 4.3 inch amoled. Maybe for cameras or something? That I am not sure about. And on evilottos point IF the supersonic's rumor is true of having a 4.3 AMOLED, it will be the largest ever in a phone. Meaning 3.7 is where it currently is at as far as AMOLED goes.

Sounds familiar, as that is pretty much what we have been doing for the past few months.
Question -
With the N1 for VZW being announced for Mar 23rd, how many of us would jump on that if there is nothing about the Incredible officially announced by then. **Assuming - that we can use our NE2 on it ....

Its hard to say, Sense UI on the desire is beautiful. There will definitely be a legit rom for the N1 once the incredible comes out tho. With me, the verizon store is a huge factor...I can go in there, play with the phone and buy it on the same day. Also the customer service that you get at the store is HUGE...but if i can use my NE2 AND keep it on my family plan...its gonna be a tough decision

I personally think that the incredible is going to be out within a week (before or after) the N1...I don't think many people are gonna jump on google's sales approach

Unless I get some hands on time with the Nexus, I wll wait for the Incredibe. I want to see if the 3g issues have been worked out before I jump to the Nexus
I thought updates fixed most of the problems with the Nexus One already......like the lagginess even with Snapdragon etc..

I would probably wait a couple weeks for the Incredible if the Nexus One came out like March 20th, if it doesn't release by then, then i'll pick up the Nexus One.

Main reasons why i would wait is, Sense UI, 720P, better camera, DivX, and other better multimedia features that the Incredible is supposed to have over stock Android and other phones. They are basically trying to make it a better multimedia smartphone, more like iPhone i guess you can say with its media player etc..

The things that are currently holding me back from the Incredible: 256mb of ram (though this can easily be changed and upped to 512mb for release), the backplate isn't exactly the most beautiful thing i've seen (this can also be easily changed before release or even doing it yourself with a custom backplate/aftermarket). It seems to be really plastic like also looking at the pictures and would prefer maybe something like Teflon or Aluminum/some sort of metal feel

I'm sure that is true. But moving the phone ever so slightly and losing signal is not good.

Different network, different radio. Hence the one hardware piece that might have been causing the problem is the one that is going to be different between the 2 N1's (also gives HTC a chance to fix any other hardware issues). I don't see the Verizon version having the same problems, especially if Verizon is involved with the testing.

Well stated. From what I have read on Google's help forums, the only way you wont have serious issues with Google's sales approach is if everything goes perfectly. Which would be nice, but not something you can expect. So its either a smooth situation or a nightmare.

Yes i know no current phones support a 4.3 inch AMOLED screen and the Supersonic would be the first. But yes, it is also rumors right now that it has one.

I would like to note that i know someone who's friend is testing the HTC Supersonic right now for Sprint, and he stated that it was a 4.3 inch AMOLED screen. Now i can't provide and real hard evidence besides my word but thats what he told me. He also told me that they have a video of the HTC Supersonic and will be putting it out on the web within weeks. He is under confidentiality as usual and is editing the video tediously so he doesn't make any mistakes that will get him caught and fired.

I hope that is true. I don't have problems with my POS Storm. So I would expect more from the Nexus. I just hope we get the specs before the Nexus hits the market. Then we can make a good choice.

People love Google's approach. No family plan upgrades, current subscribers pay a higher subsidized price then new customers, no in store support, calling 2 different companies if you need to return your phone. Whats not to love about that approach?

User question... on my google mail i can send a SMS from AOL chat on my computer, all integrated into gmail. With Android, will I be able to do the same, which would be the equivalent of FREE text messaging?

It's different. For the handset, you need something called google voice. This basically gives you another phone number and then you can do everything for free, free texting etc.. via your google voice number. There are a lot of articles on this on the web.

I plan on using google voice when i get an Nexus One or HTC Incredible so i don't have to pay for texting. Note, YOU NEED A DATA PLAN though. Currently, google voice is invite-only but will probably open up later on, you can pick up a google-invite from ebay though if you pay like $1.

It's still not exactly the same as using a real texting plan and really texting. It's not like instant from what i've heard and it only checks like every 5 minutes which is ridiculous. There are work around though so that the texts coming to you are instant.

Well, I'm not sure about your exact question but if you have a Google Voice account, you can send txt via email for sure and thus end up with free unlimited txt messaging. Don't know if that helps you much.

Txts sent to me come through on my gmail quite quickly...can't really remember as much of a lag as 5 min though I suppose it could be different on the phone itself.

Yea idk i read about a guide for google voice on the internet. The guy was using a blackberry which supports google voice and he said that the texts wouldn't refresh until like every 5 minutes. But he did do a workaround which uses the e-mail instead of your typical SMS/texting application that comes with all the phones and then it became instant. Basically like push e-mail.

I guess basically if you use your e-mail/google voice instead of the regular SMS/texting application it works better and is instant.

Idk im not like 100% sure, just something i read with the guy giving a tutorial on how to setup google voice etc..

Okay, I'll give your question a shot. For me personally, I love eyecandy. The animations, icons, wallpapers, transitions, widgets, pretty much everything is just much more beautiful on Sense UI. When I look at my phone, I want it to look pleasing. Stock Android is a little rough around the edges visually. It is definitely improving with 2.1 but it still has a long way to go to catch up with Sense.

Also, Sense has improved upon many functionalities of Android. Most people will tell you, the Sense onscreen keyboard works much better than stock Android keyboard. Sense also had multi-touch from the beginning. Stock Android has just recently added this. Sense also does a much better job organizing your information, contacts, media, social networks, etc.. Things are just overall better put together. You have to understand also that my experience with Sense was on an Eris which is running Android 1.5, so I expect Sense on 2.1 to be that much more spectacular.

These are just a few reasons to love Sense UI, but important ones to me. I'm sure I've missed a lot of other benefits but this hits some of the important ones. Let me conclude this by saying, it really boils down to preference. I know several have said on here that they actually prefer stock over Sense. I'm sure they have their reasons. But most of us on this thread are waiting for the Incredible because we want a powerful Android phone with Sense UI.

If anyone else wants to add to this, feel free.

FANTASTIC post! +1 To add to his post even a little more, if you're still not convinced that Sense UI is better, just watch this video and just keep the words "eye candy" in mind. This video is about the best case for Sense UI that I've seen, and this is the newest version. It almost brings a tear to my eye it's so beautiful. haha

Just like to note how much snappier the Desire is compared to the Legend running HTC Sense, amazing :)

good thing this thread is staying relevant. i feel like someone should make another thread with just info we know for sure and what was leaked. i feel bad for anyone thats gotta read thru 39 pages of random stuff to find out what would only be 1 page of the trhead

If the person wants the most recent news, he only has to read the last page.....all we can do now is wait anyway. Our latest news with the HTC Incredible video is basically old now and doesn't really give any insight to anything besides that video recording will look amazing even in dark lit rooms.

But still, people like wonderbread were able to dig up even more information that could possibly be related to it like the battery etc..
