Root [ACS] Clockwork Mod Recovery for Transform Ultra

Is the CWM download listed in the first post compatible with "most" if not all android phones or is it specific to the TF Ultra in some way?

I understand that one would need different drivers for the phone, but the CWM download -- is it specially customized in some way for the TF Ultra only?

This cwm is only for the transform ultra (sprint and boost)
Do not try it on any other phone, (unless I get corrected by interpth)

Do I understand this correctly, this is a backup and restore routine and I need to use your other link and script to root?

Can this also be uninstalled? Just in case...

On windows, run the .bat to install
On mac/linux, run the .sh to install.

Hey interdpth, couldn't track you down yesterday so I sent my phone off to Samsung. Guess I will have to be less adventurous in helping the mod community in the future. I have two questions you might be able to answer:

1) What is the difference between clockworkmod posted here, and clockworkmod on the android market? If google claims that the app on the market is compatible with my phone, does that mean I can backup and install roms like I can using recovery mode?

2) It seems to me like it shouldn't be so hard to get the ops file. If it's just a matter of mapping out the partitions on the phone, wouldn't this information be somewhere relatively easy to find, such as in the source code or stored somewhere in the hardware? Since android is Linux based, couldn't you theoretically use diskpart or some other partitioning tool to extract this information? What am I missing here. Is there some resource you are aware of which explains how Odin works, particularly in terms of handling these blocks/partitions?

Answer is that clockworkmod is a custom made recovery to install and backup certain things. If you look up clockworkmod on market first thing that comes up is rom manger. That's just an app, not an actual recovery

edit: the CWM installed just fine. i was holding the volume up button instead of the volume down button lol

now i need to find out where the correct folders on phone to install some roms :)

I just rooted my Transform and installed CWM...doing a back up...will be installing my first custom rom soon!!!

Downloaded CRM but when I boot into it I get the error message
E: can't find miscellaneous
E: update logfile does not exist

I don't get the opinion to backup or to install zip from sd

I have already installed the Starscream Rom
How can I fix this so I can have a recovery option?

Yeah use titanium backup. As soon as you flash a rom and reboot go to the android market, and redownload titanium backup.Start titanium backup and all your backedup apps will be available for restore. (titanium backup will also find the text file stored on your sd card that unlocks the pro version... if you bought it) Be careful about restoring sytem apps though, especially when changing roms. a system app might be designed by the dev to work in a specific rom and if you restore it in a different rom the app wont integrate well. also if you are restoring a system app +data the data might create some overlap, which is also not good. so the best bet is to restore whatever user apps (+data if u wish) and dont restore system apps.
I also found that since its not a good idea to restore system apps when switching roms, there is no point in backing them up as they will just take up space.

This is great info. Thank you sooooooo much man

I've got my STU rooted & have CWM installed. I saw in the market a clockworkmod app. Can we use this to perform / restore a backup or do we have to reboot into recovery mode each time?

Ok I ran the .bat and when I try to boot into recovery by holding vol down and power then letting go of power when i see the samsung logo then it has the open box with the arrow but right after that i get a ! and it boots to android system recovery anyone know how to fix this?

Edit: I got it working now it was my bad I did not have the right drivers installed or something. I was reading some forums and they told me to try installing pdanet then run the bat file and it wordonaked. Thanks for all your hard work donating now.

Yes I have downloaded the program numerous times. An each time I open it up there is no run.bat file. The only run file is the run.sh. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Do I need to set the phone on debugging mode? I bought a Transform and it wasn't booting, so I did a factory reset and now I don't have a home screen neither can I get to options... Am I screwed until Odin comes out??
