Root [ROM] CTMod 3.80 (04/06/13)

Hey Blood i love the rom it run very smooth and quickly. but i cant seem to get my bluetooth headphones to connect to it. Is there anything i can do to fix this?

some BT devices work fine and some have trouble so I haven't been able figure out whats wrong

maybe try 2.5 and see if it works

If you redo your apps on the new version then you can start using that method again for future updates

That kinda makes sense, but If I were to do this over the air using the official 2.3.6 from 2.3.5 it would save my settings I assume.

Is there anyway I can modify my back up to restore properly?
Or at least salvage some of it? (I need to update two phones in this scenario.)
So I do not need to redo everything?

Any tips appreciated!
(On another note, why does the home button get wrecked when restoring data?
I figured that was part of "system" not "data".

I made CTMod 3.0 using hroarks 2.3.6 admire port so its still alot different then the official one

you can copy your backup to your desktop and open up the data.tar with 7zip and get some of your stuff out of it, that might help a little.

and yea, it is a part of /system but system stores all its cache, dalvik, settings and stuff like that on /data so thats where the problems come in

System settings and databases are stored in /data
This includes things like handlers for keys.
When /data is empty and the system first boots, all the apps in /system/app get initialized. That's when they register their "intents" for things like the home key, search key, incomming calls/messages and the like

If you copy over settings for a different launcher and it claims default, the new launcher can't take over handling the home key

What is the difference and/or benefit between the Admire 2.3.6 and the Prevail 2.3.6?

Will you be switching to the Prevail port now that it is available?

the admire port has some extra features like shit for tether, i just need to fix them lol

I may use some stuff from the official 2.3.6 if i need to but I'm gonna stick with this
 
Blood, did you take out the System Update section in the menu? Like to update profile and prl etc...? Or was that 2.3.6 that did that. Just curious. When I was on 2.5 I did the ##3282# to change the stuff in there and now on 3.1.2 that code isn't working for me. Also in the phone info section under Network, it say Unknown.

I didn't take it out, its how the admire port was

I may be able to add it back but I'm not making any promises

I couldn't care less lol. I'm just trying to figure out why my signal is crappy. I did that 4gv change before and didn't change it back to default. Any cluse as to why ##8778# still works but ##3282# doesn't, for me at least.

I really dunno shit about prls, I've never had to change mine

Signal strength is measured in dBm(decibels miliwatt Sciencey Link)

-120dBm is typically the lowest number that the radio will report.
Higher numbers are stronger received signals (Note that we're starting at a negative number, so higher is closer to 0)
On my setup, -105dBm will fluctuate between 1 and 2 bars.
-95dBm is 3 bars.

What's going the make the bigger difference is the number of "bars" since they are just a series of images that the system swaps to based on the number it gets from the radio. I'm not sure what process is in control of that specifically (probably framework.apk seeing as the images are stored there iirc) so in theory, I could compile a whole new framework.apk from the android repository that I changed to have 20 different threshold levels and make 20 different signal level images.

the new radio binaries may have adjusted the signal level reported by 5dBm, or may have simply changed the reporting resolution (i.e. only report in multiples of 5) so that display changes happen more or less frequently depending on the desired result.

So the modem may be more accurate, Or possibly purposefully less accurate to make things appear more stable

Yeah I read that. I mean mine was bad though lol. Not even going by the signal bars, I was at -120dBm. Maybe tower work, who the hell knows. Anyways, after just now flashing a fresh 3.1.2, the ##3282# still don't work. Guess that was taken out of the admire 2.3.6 port also. Well thanks for the help!! I'll try to refrain from bothering anyone for a while haha.

The ## menu is different between metro and boost mobile.

Metro uses *228 to update prl and activate phones, which is very different from Boost method.
So many of the hidden menu's are going to be diffferent because of the different carrier it was designed for.
 
i did the f19 update and i gotta say my reception sucked.... i thought it might have been th dbm fix they might have done but after testing the f19 system gave me 0 bars, compared to the ej06 which gave me 2 to 3 bars in the same location... i am running the 11115 prl and it gave me 980 kbps upload and 540 kbps ( rouinding up ), i was wondering if in the 3.1.2 update, did you include the 3G script? kAK and the V6supercharger... my phone is running hella smooth. battery life seems outstanding! i was on the nus on a THREE HOUR trip running pandora the whole time and im at 73 % . as to previous versions would have my batter at 54 % by the time i got to work. also, when in a call, it says "press the unlock key to unlock" and when i press it instead of unlocking it puts the screen to sleep. bug?

the app quickpic wanted to do an update but when i tried to update it i got an error. "package file was not signed correctly.uninstall the previous copy of the app and try again". ?????? is there a way around the signing of a package

What would cause that to happen Blood , the lib file on the original zip ?
 
I just wiped everything including davlik cache etc. to do a fresh install of the ROM. I now get a lot of "application not installed" messages when trying to install talk.apk, amazon.apk etc.

I resigned all the apk's in the rom to fix something and forgot to remove zeam and quickpic before i did it so that probably screws with the market when it trys to update them
