Eris to v2.x, when?

Not sure what is needed. A few more people are working on it, so someone else apart from the initial guinea pig should be able to provide instructions.
 
Here's a question: What about the apps we have on our 1.5 phones?
I really hope my apps still work if I take the plunge and jump to 2.1 :confused:

It's probably a dumb thing to ponder, but I am dead tired, too lazy too think and blah blah blah :cool:

Nah, they should work. Unless explicitly labeled as "1.5 only" or "1.6 only", all apps should open up on 2.1.

Hold off on downloading the file. It looks like a patched version is being upped.

Don't worry, I downloaded this first one already and then saw the post.

Well, someone might want to try this. I've gotten the unzip errors to go away, but I haven't tested it on an actual device. Anyone want to try? I've uploaded the (very tiny) binary patch. You'll need the bspatch utility (windows port here: .tSCc. // others). Rename the one you downloaded to something else like PB00IMG-corrupt.zip, and run this:

Code:
bspatch PB00IMG-corrupt.zip PB00IMG.zip eris-eclair.bpatch
That will create a new PB00IMG.zip that is no longer corrupt. Someone test it on a phone and let me know if it works! :-)

okay, so this is my first post and all, i wanted to introduce myself. so please be kind on me. lol. one question, does this in any way void the phone warranty? sorry if it sounds dumb. im new to this whole android thing.
 
aww, it doesn't have the cool HTC reflected logo on black anymore, it's just white w/ HTC in green and "quietly brilliant" beneath it.

Didn't hear the HTC sound either. Prolly still a pre-release version =P
 
can any one please put some confirmation photos or a video on youtube, so that i can dive into this.

Hey - new here as well. Been lurking around for a couple months since I got my Eris. So any speculation on if this leak will have any effect on VZW pushing out the OTA sooner? I had a dumb phone prior to my Eris and am not really familiar with how these OS updates go. I have been anxiously awaiting the 2.1 update like everyone else however I am not sure if I want to take the chance on bricking my phone - love the thing to death and its the only phone I have! Maybe this will get them moving on pushing the update?? One can only hope...

Dunno. I understand that 2.1 is running fine, they are just having problems uploading it to their OTA servers. So this shouldn't affect it if that is true.
