Eris to v2.x, when?

As a Droid owner (and previous Eris owner), I am happy for you guys. I hope everything works as planned. Congrats to all who got this working!

I wasn't going to add this, but a few mean spirited people made me want to. To the person/people who said Droid owners would be envious, we have been running 2.1 for weeks (w/live wallpapers)...Just sayin....

It was me. And I thought the Droid couldn't handle Live wallpapers.

Either way, I don't see how what I said was "mean-spirited."

ok c'mon now, I downloaded the zip, put it on my SD. booted into HBOOT pressing the PWR and SEND keys and and says it cant find the image, in green text it says loading
SD Checking....
PB001DAG.IMG
No Image!

It goes on to other files to check and says the same. I can now go into fastboot, recovery, clear storage, sim lock, I am obviously not messing with that stuff. I can also go back as many times as I want to HBOOT to keep seeing that list of files say 'No Image!' I took the battery out tried again, no luck. I can boot back up normally by pressing PWR as usual, but what gives? I have the file on my SD card, do I need it in a certain folder?

(Followed thekrtek.net)

The instructions made it seemed easy. Yes I dl'ed the patched version and also tried the volume down key as well. Any ideas?

I kind of had the same situation happen to me. The problem was that the zip file I added to the sd card was named PB00IMG(2).zip. This was because the first file I downloaded wasn't patched, so when I went to download the actual patched file it naturally downloaded as PB00IMG(2).zip. Of course when you run hboot the phone is looking for PB00IMG.zip, not PB00IMG(2).zip. Having a different file name will completely screw everything.

I just pulled the battery again, rebooted normally (just pressed the power button), connected the phone to the computer via the sd card, and changed the name from PB00IMG(2).zip to PB00IMG.zip. Then shut it off and followed the steps again. Everything loaded fine. It was just that one stupid, but thankfully easy to fix mistake, that held everything up for me.

Don't know if that will help you.

Not sure, several (if not everyone) is having this problem.

Anyways, thanks to this leak I saw at the "right" time, I have successfully put off productive studying for my management and stats exams tomorrow. I do however, need sleep. Thanks everyone for the help. Good night, and good luck!

From what I know, the Droid can barely do it, the Eris would "explode" and the N1 is the only thing that can handle it right now.
Have you seen the videos floating around with live wallpapers on hero? A few of the ones I've seen run fairly smooth, I mean they're mostly just to show off anyway you could load them up for a bit, show off, then go about your day switched back to a regular wall paper hah.

Well it seems my home screen works correctly until i plug it up to the pc and mount the card...after that I have to reboot to return it to normal.

Good god, my download is running so SLOWLY! Right now it's saying I've got five and a half more hours to go... shit, I need to be getting up for WORK in five and a half hours! I really want to have 2.1 on my phone when I go to work tomorrow because I want to make those Droid fans drool. Maybe they had the option to manually update, but I don't think any of them have taken the initiative. I'm the chief geek in the group. Most of them were blown away when I showed them how to install Swype.

I can't wait to waste all of tomorrow setting up my homescreens again and getting to know the new OS!

well now my home button does not work. if i hold it down it pops up open programs but when i tap it, it just blink back to the same screen im on.

wow this is great, now can someone tell me how to get all my contacts back, they are backed up and i see all of them on my computer just how to do get them back on my phone

edit nevermind this is so great!!!

*randomly leaps about his home screens..*

DOn't need the animated wallpapers, thought it was a gimmick from the get-go (getco?) that would just kill battery.

Conspiracy Theory Time: What if VZW purposely leaked the 2.1 build early to see what kind of holes people would find and then patch them? We all know the eris, for whatever reason, is locked down tighter than a dolphin's butthole where root is concerned. Why stop now?

That's what they're doing. I had the same EXACT thought.

Eating words from by own mouth as I post this from hour old 2.1 update. Stocks is working fine for me so far. Goodnight satisfied Eris owners .. goodnight.

Any way to install this using OS X on a mac? I don't have windows.... W4LLY??

same for me. im redownloading it from a different source, just to be sure. if it does it again, im going to do bootloader. i'll update

Make sure sdcard has been formatted using the device itself in settings - sdcard - unmount - format. worked for me afterwards.
