Eris to v2.x, when?

Still not getting the hboot option. Anyone have any ideas? I have astro and it shows the .zip file with all other files on my sd. I'm at a loss.

I just installed it and im at the screen with the six icons...how to i get to my normal home screens?

What do you mean? If you are referring to your own custom screen you had...it's gone friend. It went the way of the floppy drive. Should take long to make it again though!

After reading the last 5 pages of nerdgasm (no judgements here I'm sporting 2.1 wood as well,) I think I'm going to give it to the end of the month and hope I get my OTA update by then. Reasons:

1. I'm concerned about my ability to get future OTA updates if I install what is clearly a custom modded (but still mostly official) 2.1 ROM. I want 2.1 really badly, but I'm not sure I want to wait/rely on custom ROMs for all future official OS updates.

2. The different MD5 hashes between this update (pre-patch) and the official update that NKT has been toying with means that this is either older, or they're still making minor adjustments to the final version prior to pushing it out to the masses. When I DO finally get 2.1 I want to make sure it's the most thoroughly tested, stable and tweaked version. Maybe I'll even be able to upgrade with all my current data and settings!

3. By waiting, we can eventually do a compare and contrast, and possibly see if the two versions have any actual differences.

That said if at the end of the month 2.1 hasn't been pushed out to the rest of us, I may re-evaluate my thinking. ;-) In any case, I'm thrilled you all are enjoying it, it adds real value to our devices, and I hope I can join your ranks soon!

Have you just tried pressing volume down to see if anything happens?

I can press volume down and it will move between the options bootloader (in green), reboot (in yellow), reboot bootloader (in purple), and power down (red). Those are the only options that come up. Do I select one of those options? or should I immediately get the option to choose hboot?

Ok. I'm biting the bullet....if anyone cares...

They really sound optimistic there about a root within the next week. Looks like all we needed was this to jumpstart interest again. Nice.

ok c'mon now, I downloaded the zip, put it on my SD. booted into HBOOT pressing the PWR and SEND keys and and says it cant find the image, in green text it says loading
SD Checking....
PB001DAG.IMG
No Image!

It goes on to other files to check and says the same. I can now go into fastboot, recovery, clear storage, sim lock, I am obviously not messing with that stuff. I can also go back as many times as I want to HBOOT to keep seeing that list of files say 'No Image!' I took the battery out tried again, no luck. I can boot back up normally by pressing PWR as usual, but what gives? I have the file on my SD card, do I need it in a certain folder?

The instructions made it seemed easy. Yes I dl'ed the patched version and also tried the volume down key as well. Any ideas?

I would say try bootloader, but you probably want a bigger nerd than me to answer that to be sure. ;)

It said no image! on mine as well. Just keep letting it go, and eventually it should ask you if you want to upgrade. Hit the trackball and that should be it.

I went ahead and followed this advice, and it appears to be working. I have hboot highlighted in blue at the top of the white screen. Just now it asked me if I want to start update and i said yes. Hopefully this works! Thanks for the help so far. I couldn't be more excited for this update!

Yeah, it spent quite some time on "no image." It should eventually get there.

Very underwhelming, although a lot of good came out of this.

1. The threads about 2.1 should die down. If anyone makes one, we won't answer it, nor will we tell them it has been leaked. We'll let them figure it out on their own.

2. I doubt anyone on xda has gone to sleep. They're working fervently on root, from what I'm reading, which can only be good.

Yup, and I can only assume that once OTA rolls out we should get hit with the newer version. Then again...you know what they say about assuming.

same for me. im redownloading it from a different source, just to be sure. if it does it again, im going to do bootloader. i'll update

I'm just sitting at that same menu, no prompt for the update. I previously mentioned, I can also do Bootloader, reboot, rebootloader, and power down if I click Fastboot
