Market now is Google Play Store

Any one els have their market update to new version called Google Play Store?

Yep. Me too Johnny. I noticed it after flashing KK2.

What I don't like is when a system app updates and basically duplicates itself as a user app.

I used the Titanium option to integrate the update into system and it worked. Also had to reset ADW EX to get it to show up in the app drawer.

Glad you started a thread on this. I suspect it is going to confuse some folks.

It did me for a minute. Lol.

What is this &$@#!? I think were my exact words.

I thought it was titanium backupndoing it (erasing app in app drawer) only after I used tb to intergrate update into rom..I noticed creating a shortcut on the main desktop ..using the shortcut a few times and all off a sudden it would show back up in app drawer..

I just got it recently, no major improvement from the Market in my opinion... Also i just remove the old market from the system folder and take the Google Play from the user side and replaced the old one with the new. I didn't feel like going in depth with how I did it lol.

Nope haven't got it and hope I don't . Now watch that sucker update as soon as I post this . LOL :p

im pretty sure it will lol, i just seen the first post a few minutes ago, i turned on my wifi and a couple minutes after that.. behold! Google Play..:D

Funny . As soon as I posted , I went to check the Market and I had to accept their terms of agreement again but nothing changed . I wonder what that was about ?

Try this then, if you got a root type file explorer go into the data/app folder you might see the Google Play apk there, I did and I just replaced the market with it.. its the same inside the app its just the outward appearance changed, that's all I noticed so far.

Nope , it's not there . I'm just wondering why it asked me to accept the terms of agreement again . It only does that the first time you use it .

Yep Biker that is the first thing it does. That confused me too. Then a few minutes later I saw the Google Play. Then I finally realized it was the new name for Market.

Then the trivial fun began.

Why did they do this crap? Looks like they intend to either give stuff away or sell it at a discount every day. Kind of like the Amazon app of the day thing.

Look for Play Store instead of Market in your app drawer.

The thing is Wy , I didn't have GooglePlay in data/apps , system/apps or anywhere .

I just flashed KK 2.0 . Might get it now . I'm in the process of restoring all my apps as I type . lol

EDIT : Yup , I got it now .

UPDATE: Ok , I flashed KK 2.0 and went ahead and let the Market update which killed the Market icon . Restored all my app via Titanium and when I looked , the Market app had disappeared and replaced with PlayStore . So far so good .

Not too thrilled with the new market but since it just made its debut, i guess i'll just let time do the rest lol:p

Biker..go into titanium and see if it updated ..should have gone from I think 3 4 4 to ver 3 4 6..then intergrate update into rom...see if it changes...

It updated as soon as I flashed KK 2.0 lol . Everything seems to be working ok . The Market icon is gone now and been replaced by Play Store icon . I haven't really gone through it yet to see what changes have been made . What have you noticed if anything ?

I haven't been able to get the Google Play update. Market never prompts for it and I even tried manually installing it via the APK. But when it goes to install it just ends with a generic "Application Not Installed". Now that I mention it, I get that error on a few random apps I tried to update. Google Search updated correctly via the APK manual install just fine though, so it doesn't occur with all apps.

I can probably get Google Play working by manually installing it to the system folder, but I don't really want to do that. :(

thats probally your best bet bro..if you google "google play download xda" should bring up some download links at xda for you to try..if it doesnt work by just downloading and installing via package installer..just use root explorer to push it to system/apps..and you should be good...i used to have my dropbox link of google play in a thread here but it was deleted because i violated googles terms and conditions:rolleyes:

Ok I had to push it to the system folder to get it to work. It will install correctly if I use a root browser to launch the APK from the system folder. At which point it will update the old version to the new one without error. I just wanted to try avoiding dropping it in the system folder since it takes up the phone's internal memory when I do that. :P
