Eris to v2.x, when?

If you wait for the OTA update, will that still wipe your phone clean and you'll have to set your homescreen and download or reload all your apps? Ever other slight update has kept all the phone settings intact. Since this is an OS update, I'm assuming even the OTA update will require re-customization. Anyone else want to chime in?

I did not have that problem in the past, but I know it is not there in the current calendar. I can also say that the calendar app and widgets have been greatly improved. There is a new full screen agenda widget too.

The calendar app never had the problem. It shows up correctly in the calendar itself, but if you put the small widget on a home screen, it shows up on incorrectly. And I believe you get an alert a day early also. It happens on both mine and my wife's Eris. It only affects "all day" events.

Hey everyone... well i'm new here, but i've been reading alot of posts here for a while, anyway im getting my eris this week... so by the looks of this 2.1 leak then the official update should be here soon! :D which is the update im getting (dont wanna take a risk)

Just rebooted and 2.1 working great. Accessed the new Market interface to update Google Maps. Goggles and other 2.0+ apps are all there now! Cool!

Did anyone ever try rolling back to 1.5? I'm assuming that you'd just need to remove the file from the SD card and do a hard reset, but I'm completely new to smart phones, so I wouldn't be surprised if I'm waaaaay off on that one.

I just really want to see that someone has tried to go back to 1.5 and had it successful before I try this one. I'm so excited to have 2.1 but I want to try it out and then go back to 1.5 before the official 2.1 OTA push, so I can have the official update on my phone (can't afford to replace it without warranty!).:)

So has anyone seen any response from either Verizon or HTC about the leak yet? I've been looking around but I haven't been able to find anything.

Maybe you can try out 2.1 on a phone somebody has thrown out their window.

Keep your eyes peeled.

Took the plunge today - flash went great!! Thanks a lot to everyone who made this possible!! I am so stoked! This totally reminds me of when the GPS Rom leaked for the Omnia last year....

So the awake % has been changed to Battery Use. From what I can add, the total comes to 100% when all the numbers are added. Cell Standby and Phone Idle are the good % which normally wouldn't be added into the Awake. While Android System 16%, Wi-F- 5%, and Display 4% making 25% Awake which is normal for consistant light use (Oxymoron?). This was for whoever else was wondering besides me.

Okay, I severely flogged my Eris for the last hour or so (my work productivity today is nonexistent) and I have to say that the battery does definitely seem better with 2.1.

Anyone else notice that the official Google Voice app doesn't crash at startup anymore?

Ahhh how do I get it to just sync "my contacts" from gmail? I can't find the "Sync Groups" setting anymore under people... it just added everyone I've ever emailed ever to my Eris contacts

Probably the most interesting part of this thread is reading the contrast between all excited people who went for the update, and the stoic rationalizations of those who have chosen not to (which is fine, of course).

I was a little worried about it, too, and I pondered the notion overnight, but this morning I remembered the immortal words from the film Risky Business: Sometimes, you just gotta say, "What the f**k!"

Good words to live by, indeed. So, here goes!

It seems that we will be able to receive the OTA once it rolls out, for those who are worried.
Unconfirmed but believed so

Another confirmed flash to 2.1 here. The only problem I'm having so far is that after doing a full restore with Mybackup, the weather/clock widget is gone. When I do the data restore, htc home gets to 99/99, and then sense force closes. Anyone have any idea what might be going on here?

Also, I just noticed that my albums app seems to be missing too. I can still get to my pictures/vids through the camera, but a shortcut around that would be nice.

Other than those two things, I'm really liking it. It feels very responsive now.

I pulled the trigger and did the flash. It really seems alot snappier. I'm not sure if this is because of all the junk I had installed before or not. It is syncing with my works exchange server perfectly in case anyone was wondering. but then again I didn't have an issue with 1.5 either.

Have you done much testing with Exchange? Can you sync your tasks now? Is the folder menu now sorted?

Also, on 1.5 whenever I would delete a message on an e-mail account connected to exchange it would move it to the Deleted Items folder as unread. Is that fixed?

Thanks,
Jeff
