Eris to v2.x, when?

Those of you that are claiming it is possible to downgrade back to 1.5, have you actually tried it? I tried to roll back to MR1 after MR2 rolled out and it never worked, I was stuck with MR2.

What is not smooth about 1.5?

This is what I do not understand, and yes, I've seen the posts in these forums about issues here and there, but most seem to be user problems/ignorance, mine included.

There is nothing wrong with 1.5 on my device. No lag, etc. It's just a phone that I use every day and is reliable.

If 2.1 offers that, when it comes out OTA, and does not mess up the Eris, as updates to Blackberry used to do once in a while, then I'll be fine with it, I suppose.

But if it's just a "new features" update, eye-candy, etc, I have no use for it. And that brings me to the other question: when 2.1 officially comes OTA do I have to accept it? 1.5 is fine.
 
ok i bought an Eris about a week ago and have been watching this forums since. I signed up but haven't posted so hey my names mike.

The install of this firmware was the easiest install ive done coming from someone whos played around with the ipods a bit. Download the zip paste the zip onto your sd car with no modifications, power down phone, hold call and power, hit power to select hboot and then FOLLOW THE ON SCREEN INSTRUCTIONS (i cant believe how many people said they just hit w.e the screen tells you exactly how to move on)

I love the Eris i would say it's the best phone I've ever purchased. I would have liked the droid but it was a bit expensive and it seems that Motorola got a little sloppy with the Android OS on that phone. I haven't played with it to much so no more commenting on that.

2.1 is great! The menus are are bit quicker to pop up, theres a nice clock on the screen where you draw your unlock pattern and I still have to find more new things.

Honestly though all I want to be able to do is have some more customization capabilities such as changing the LED color and setting and change the trackball color and settings. Many blackberrys have free apps you can download to accomplish things like that ill just have to wait for a dev to do it. :(
 
led or trackball color seems to be locked out, i bet we get it if/when we get root.

I'm hoping we wont have to root to get such a simple feature :( i like my warranty

Also my notification bar is showing the icon thats two arrows going in a circle like its doing something but i have nothing running or downloading.
 
WhenI press and hold call & power...it brings up the screen...but i'm not able to naviagate to hboot...(.zip file is on the SD card).

FASTBOOT is highlited in red, then below i see <vol down> HBoot Mode...which i'm unable to get to.

The only thing i can do is pull the battery...?
 
Can someone who has taken the plunge please let me know if "Solitaires Arena" is available to download in the 2.1 market?
 
Any one else seeing the battery life greatly increased. After loading, I thought that the BatteryLife widget was not working at first. I have been playing for about a half an hour and it hasn't dropped at all. On 1.5, it would have dropped 3-5% in that time. I am turning on all radios now and going to push it as hard as I can to see what happens.
 
Has anyone figured out how to sync Facebook contacts? I have gone into settings and social and hit sync, and also logged out and logged in to no avail.
My OWN contact (me) synced, though..
 
yes, solitaire arena is there

i have seem a bit better battery, seems signal is better, may be the culprit

havent really messed with fb sync
 
Did they fix the bug where all day calendar events show up a day early in the HTC calendar widget?

Right now I'm staring at my HTC calendar widget on 1.5 and it tells me a Saturday all day event is tomorrow (Friday). So annoying.

It doesn't matter if you're mac or pc. It's just putting a .zip file on your SD card's root folder.

It's really not that hard. Just be aware that there are some bugs, and the risk is yours.

OK, stupid question here. I know I used to have a folder called root when I viewed my sd card with Astro, but I don't see it anymore. Where is it I wonder?

This just means in the directory you're already in when you OPEN Astro.

In other words, if you just Open Astro, and just scroll down, all of those files and folders are in the ROOT directory.

So in Windows, when you mount your SD card, just drag the file right onto the F: or G: or whatever drive it is. NOT in any specific folder.

The root directory just means the directory that holds all the other directories/folders. bascially.
