Eris to v2.x, when?

Loving 2.1...

You can now edit words in your custom dictionary...

Settings -> Language and Keyboard -> Touch Input -> User Dictionary

Sweet!

If that doesn't work, here is how you fix it.

1. Go to Personal Communications Devices
2. Download the MR2 Uprade on the right hand side.
3. Unzip the file to a directory.
4. Plug the phone into the PC.
5. Run the "RUU_Desire_C_Verizon_WWE_1.17.605.1_release_signed_with_driver.exe" file that you extracted.
6. ???
7. Profit

This should wipe the phone and re-install Android 1.5. This will wipe all the data on the phone such as contacts, etc. However, the upgrade to 2.1 did the same thing. From this point he can either stick with 1.5 or give 2.1 another go.

Also, anybody else looking to go back to 1.5 can follow these instructions.

I've seen this in here a few times now, but haven't heard from anyone who's actually tried it. If it works as advertised, I may be more inclined to give this rom a try. As I stated before, there are several things about this version that suggest it's an incomplete version of the final product and I want to make sure that I can take the official upgrade path if I chose to do so in the future.

I dunno, I still get the feeling this could be an early build some how.

Different MD5 hash values for this build (pre patched) and the one that NKT is testing would suggest as much. Either earlier than his, or one that's had some minor revision done to it. Still likely not a final product no matter how you slice it.

People need to make up their own minds on this. Everyone has shared their opinion and took the plunge for you. If you still can't decide, then maybe you don't need it.

The MD5 is the same for the patched ROM and the tester ROM.

I am also tired of the waste of post. All these questions with baby steps.
There should be only a few legit questions to be asked if any.

Does this leak work? Yes
Are there bugs? Yes
Can I still upgrade via OTA for the legit version? Yes
Can I go back to 1.5 if I don't like this leaked version? Yes (Though not confirmed)

Am I missing anything here? After these questions you should decide if you want to or not. Stop with the clutter, I am trying to read the actual useful post by people. Now you people got me ranting like Smacky. I hate myself now.

If you can't decide, don't do it. If you're the kind of person that would do something like this, you will not have as much of an issue making a decision. I was going nuts around midnight last night trying to decide whether I should do it or not. I finally just said "screw it, I can wait another month" and went to bed. I'm content with my decision. But I do enjoy reading about all the changes I can look forward to when the updates hits officially.

Define 'better' in this instance please - are you talking picture quality, or camera UI?

The camera seems to be of better quality, although that is most likely due to the slightly improved lighting within my house that we recently installed. I pretty much skipped right to using FxCamera before so I don't know if the 1.5 version had a zoom ability. The 2.1 version does zoom.

LOL

We all hate you too. :p

1.5 had zoom, but the implementation in this version is 1000x better. The pull out menu with all the options on the screen is a vast improvement too.

Really? Crap, I misread then somewhere in this 20 page freeforall. Sorry about the misinformation.

I guess that means that if someone can actually confirm the ability to roll back to 1.5 should you need to, I may have to write off the rest of my afternoon and flash my phone...

I'm the exact opposite. I had it patched and was installing it before it was even reposted. :D
