Root battery life with a powersave governor AND a weak cell signal

has anyone informally tested how much better battery life is if you have a powersaving profile (SetCPU) active along with a really weak cell phone signal? weak signals obviously drain the battery almost as fast as anything i can think of, but how much does it help to keep the processor at ~128mhz or 245mhz while the screen is off? the cellular radio is still going to be strained, so is there much in the way of battery savings in this scenario?

moved you to the rooting section.

i use either the smartass governor or the interactive x governor which has a screen off profile. i have my phone set to 245. any lower i get lag.

a good tip is to keep 3g off until you need it. 3g is a batter hog.

an app that i 'informally' think helps in that situation is Juicedefender. I just used the free app.
