i know what i would be missing

I know what am I missing by not having the very, very best video card for my computer. Does that mean I didn't enjoy Bioshock 2 on my computer? Of course it didn't. Not only that even if the Incredible was the exact copy of the Desire you'll know what you'll be missing a few months down the road when something new launches. At some point a phone is either good enough for what you want or not. I don't see too many being upset having an incredible. Hell if they would've given the Droid 5 home screen I probably would have kept mine.

Hey I am really sorry but I think I may have been wrong on the ram, I have asked my contact at VZW with the phone to confirm. I didn't check when I had it last night, I was trying to remember from Jan. I will let you know as soon as I know more.

Remember this is a developer version of the phone from months ago, upgrading ram in that time period is reasonable.

Oh and it is FOR SURE a 5 MP camera with dual LED flash

From what I've seen as far as proof, I'll keep believin otherwise till either VZW or HTC release specs. But that's just me.

Or I see some actual proof that leads me to believe the 5MP story....but I can either look at the evidence presented or just believe what someone says.

Guys, let's not forget that the photos on Flickr already surpass what has been quoted as the "spec" for the camera. We've been told over and over again it's 5MP. However the resolution on those pictures are 3264 x 1952 which calculates out to 6.4MP exactly. I for one believe that some specs will surpass what has been rumored so far.

That's what I've been bringing up to keep hope alive that this truly will be an Incredible phone.....Also think about the thickness of the phone...it seems obvious that it's gonna be thicker than the N1. What would be a good reason for a thicker phone? Bigger Camera sensor.

I don't see VZW taking a chance releasing such a "bold" phone with all that red, but making the red back plate an accessory to match the buttons. I have no proof of any of this or anything though. I am just guessing. Either way, the red buttons are like 99% gonna be on it.

I disagree. I own an ENTIRELY WHITE VZW (HTC Touch) xv6900. White? WHITE?:eek: Needless to say I cover it with a black rubber case. VZW is colorblind. ;)

With all the rumor-induced mood swings surrounding this phone, they'll probably change the name to the HTC BiPolar. That's the real reason for the red back/black front ...

Also remember, he was SURE that the Incredible he played with had a 5MP camera, BUT he even said himself, it is from months ago, never know what changes have been make since then.

What I'm trying to say is EVEN IF the phone had the same or slightly less RAM then the eris the processer should more then make up the difference.
This isn't really true... for example, an overly simplistic way to look at it would be that existing apps may run faster on a faster processor, but the amount of RAM may affect how many apps can be running at one time. Each time you launch another application, it needs some amount of memory. The more you run, the more memory is needed.

In other words, you will not likely notice any performance difference when running a single application on the Incredible w/ 256MB vs the Incredible w/512MB. But if you try opening more and more apps on each phone, the 256MB version should start slowing down (swapping to and from storage memory) before the 512MB version.

are proximity sensors a thing of the past? my lg dare has one. i could be missing it, but i don't see one on the pics of the HTC Incredible.

if you look at the new pics of the incredible there is a red dot next to the HTC name on the pic with the G1, I think thats the proximity sensor

Let me just start off by saying....I really don't want to come off like an A$$...but things are a little pathetic here. AND...not to sound superior...but many people here seem to hunt and peck at the news they want....filtering out anything to the contrary. I've always wondered if the Incredible would be incredible and posted to this effect. I admit I've been quite excited by some of the news suggesting that it indeed would be worth the wait....but also had the nagging memories of things leaked in the past. Perhaps the RAM is still an unkown....but it has been said MANY times that it would be 256. The look has also been debated....and who knows...maybe it's red....maybe black...maybe interchangeable. Hey...maybe it will actually look nice like the Desire or N1...but it can also look like an iPhone clone. It's been said that the EOL on the Eris was a good sign because it meant a replacement was on the way. It's also been said that this would be bad...because this phone might then be considered a true replacement for the Eris and not really a competitor to the high end phones we've been talking about.

To me it's pathetic watching how people justify and get excited about the Incredible...only to start justifying their POSSIBLE acceptance of a lesser phone. I don't care what the mass market dictates...and I don't care what Verizon can get away with...and I don't care if the phone seems to perform as well as the other phones. What I do care about is that I've waited, like many of you, for a very long time. I personally don't want to get stuck with a lesser phone. I will wait as long as I can for the true Incredible specs to surface....and then either buy one....or take my chances with the N1...or stay with Sprint and get the Supersonic. Heck....I might even go to AT&T and get the Desire...you just never know how this is going to shake out. The one thing I won't do is reward Verizon by purchasing a phone that is behind the several front line phones on most of the other networks.

Okay...that's my vent for the day. Carry on.

I understand what you are saying, but people do have opinions here and they do say what they don't like. We really get into out phones, and to be honest, I want one that I like and will be happy with for 1-2 years.

Well said. Let's fight! :p

I think everyone is just passing the time... it's a place for dialogue while we wait. And I'm sure all of our collective families and significant others appreciate the fact that we go here to do that, rather than talking about the phone to them... because we all have a problem. :)
