Eris to v2.x, when?

well im not sure what to tell you, i mean that is what i read. i talked to one of the devs that worked on the patch last night on IRC and he seemed confident that it was fine and was running it on his phone.

yes, it's true, but i can't tell you anything else....we are all running the same exact software/build/everything, except i got mine a bit before the leak on xda from a different source.

Can I have the one YOU have? :)

thats cool. I was gonna check if it was the same version last night, but got tired messing with my phone, checkin things out.
Personally I cant wait to go to work tomorrow and show all my eris hatin moto droid owning coworkers my cutting edge converged device.:D

they are all the same, believe me i checked your guys screen shots, same exact numbers.

and whoever asked, yes google maps with nav and voice works (works good too)

Copied everything off SD card to laptop, then formatted the SD card via the phone.

Downloaded code
plugged in phone
copied to root directory of phone ( E: drive on my laptop )
Double-checked in Astro, it shows /sdcard has PB00IMG

After volume down+power button, phone powers on, I get SD Checking... and some images it's looking for that aren't there, then finally says Loading...[PB00IMG.zip]

The blue thermometer in the top right eventually hits the top, then it says Checking..[PB00IMG.zip]

Then I see HBOOT ( white text blue background ) and below that are <SEND> FastBoot Mode and <VOL UP> Recovery.

I press trackball, nothing. I press SEND, takes me to FASTBOOT ( white text red background ) and <VOL DOWN> HBoot Mode. Trackball does nothing.

I press VOL DOWN and it goes to previous menu and starts the Loading...[PB00IMG.zip] all over again, thermometer hits the top.

I tried VOL UP recovery, i see the three droids on skateboards, then it takes me to a ! in a triangle and phone lying on the ground.

Do I press the trackball on the HBOOT screen and just wait??

I pulled the battery and powered it back on, I'm back up on 1.5, so I didn't break anything, just can't figure out why the HBOOT menu is not "taking".

I didn't reformat my SD card before I did my upgrade and mine JUST finished. (Took maybe 15 mins tops.) All I did was drop the file into the SD card, follow all the steps. (With the addition of pushing volume DOWN for HBOOT when prompted.) Then I just set my phone down and let it do its thing for a while. Prompted me to do a reboot, which I did, and now it's back up and running.

I had the wrong image apparently. I download from XDA dev's and guess I picked the incorrect one ( patched versus unpatched?? ).

So I downloaded from the link provided by Roaddog a few posts back and it's working...Updating now.

I'm wondering if the installation process I've seen listed in here is going to be the same with the OTA.

Or will it just slam right in of its own power and will?

The OTA will be similar to the MR's.

The process everyone is using for the leak is for loading manually.

i have seen/read everyone's posts on how amazing 2.1 is and the more i think about it the more i want it but i am not tech savvy when it comes to smart phones. would it be wise for me to even try to upgrade to 2.1? how hard is it to do? if i shouldnt upgrade then when is it expected to come OTA?

I was at work last night monitoring this thread as everything went down. When I got home I downloaded the file. My phone is updating to 2.1 was we speak. I will chime in later with my results.

Rather than retype I'm going to keep it simple.

Here's the .zip file you need.

And Caddyman has the easy-as-pie instructions.

Good luck! I'm about to take the plunge myself. I think.

Thanks Cman, you rock! im still not 100% I should do this because I am not sure that once i have a leaked 2.1 rom on my phone, will we still get the official OTA update as well? just curious. also does this new rom wipe the phone and whats the root directory? Sorry about the 40 questions, i am absolutely newbie to the whole android platform scene and am happy I chose the eris, I love it. To hell with the droid..lol thanks for all your support..

I asked before a way back, but I don't think there was an answer. I know there's text to speech for Nav. But I thought 2.0+ had Voice Text where you could speak into the mic and it would transfer to text in any app on the phone. I can't seem to find that setting on the new OS. Anyone else looking for that or find it?

Thanks!

No, that is not in the Eris Sense 2.1 update.

3,000

That's a lot of posts in one thread.:D

I was wondering who would get lucky number 3000. :D

This is now becoming a great thread for lurkers like me who are still holding out for the OTA. It's interesting to watch as people find the great new features and annoying new (or old) bugs. If I do decide to take the plunge and use the leak, at least I'll be waiting until the dust settles on all of the major pros/cons.

happy to report that so far i have not bricked my phone. Everything is running great. The only thing i noticed is that it took a uncomfortably long amount of time once it installed and wanted to reboot.

There it goes. That was the #1 thing I was looking forward to for 2.1.

The number one thing I am looking forward to is performance increase and stability. If it does that, I don't care if they add any features. Ok, so I do, but you know what I mean.

i know it is suppose to be there but i haven't seen anyone directly address this. is the pinch-thing-on-the-homescreen-to- see-all-seven-of-the-screens (<----like the name???:D:D) feature thing working???? it is not a huge deal ... just a cool thing to have

Yea i thought that i had bricked my phone because it took forever at one of the screens
