Official ICS Leak Thread - all leaked ICS talk goes here

For those like myself, stock with locked boot loader. What are the ramifications of installing this, say it has issues or sucks etc? Is there a way to roll back? Or do we have to then learn then got through the unlock process and then recover.

Sorry if this is a newbish question, it's because I am.

Thanks

Don't install it. Never ever a good idea to install leaks when not rooted. I learned that the hard way with 2.1 and the Eris.

Yeah, I would at least wait and watch this thread (or other threads/news posts) to see what (inevitable) issues people have with the leaked update. If it doesn't sound bad after a week or so, you may want to try it out ;). That's what I'm going to do since the Rezound is my wifes phone (I'm on the Nexus) and she needs maximum stability and functionality.

I wouldn't even do that. Truthfully, there is absolutely no point to installing a leak and potentially locking your phone into that particular firmware for a long period of time. Either wait on the OTA to make its way out, or root/unlock and install one the many ROMs that are sure to be built by devs, that way you can keep full control over your options instead of putting yourself at the mercy of VZW and HTC.

+1 I still haven't taken the other update

This is why I wish we had S-OFF. Lots of people think there isn't much value in S-OFF since we have htcdev unlock but the ability to nandroid backup, flash this leak with new radios, and flash back to stock, is something I miss being able to do (as was possible on my old hTC EVO).

The only thing I want to know is, if anyone downloaded it, does it have the disable apps feature.
It would be so much Verizon's style to not include this.
Then again this is a leak and not the final version.
I hope that the native"disable" feature makes the cut, to be able to stop the bloat from consuming resources.
Thanks, again!

I've seen others say it does indeed include it

I can't find any disable apps. If anyone has seen it please correct me, there's a lot of little changes I'm still just getting around to finding out. Flashed this morning and haven't had any glitches yet. No airplane mode toggle (remember the GB ROMS on Froyo?) nonsense, phone/data (signal when from -84 dBm to -69 dBm), camera, text, beats, all the apps I tried all work. From what I can tell the 2 major issues I had on stock were fixed. I was getting the HTC reboot all the time on stock and haven't seen it yet and my push mail seems to be actually pushing. Sense 3.6 feels close to a lovechild of Sense and GoLauncher but it doesn't lag. The app fade to wallpaper dissolve is a pretty cool change. So basically so far so good!

I have not tried Mobile Hotspot. Loaded the app and it looks like it should work as it prompts me to call VZ cust support to order the service. I forgot to mention the battery life has greatly improved. Still need to keep a charger at home, in the car, and at work, but an improvement.

Hotspot has been working fine for me the last couple of days. Still need to use it some more to really tell if its better or not. Haven't had any of the random disconnects yet though.

App disable is still there. You have to go to menu settings apps, then click the app you want to disable and it will have a button there.

Holy battery life, batman!
I love it.
I really like the develop option to be able to see where it touching.
No location agent!!! Been running for hours now and haven't seen a drop in battery life on the notification bar.
Theirs also an option to close everything when not in use but it closes EVERYTHING so everytime you go to it home screen it shows the green HTC until it loads it wallpaper, clock, etc. So... Theirs an option to set a running limit!

flashed this 1st night it came out, also the first night i had the rezound lol but non the less, works perfect, running ICS cleanrom 4.0 - wifi tether also works without a problem

Actually..... you can flash back to GB with the new radios. People have done it. As long as you have a nandroid backup of GB, a GB rom and kernel, you're good to go. You won't have the old radio's but that's about it.

I can tell you this though, the ICS leak fixed the battery charge problems that my Rez had. Before in GB stock or rooted, it would only charge to 92% (or say 100% then drastically decrease to 90% and below). Only real way was to turn off phone after it was "fully" charged and leave it charging off (again) for another 30-40mins. Now, this isn't a problem and it's something im glad that its fixed.

I did this last night. Except I flashed CleanROM 4.1 on it as well. I really like it. I am using ADW Launcher. Everything seems smoother. Things I didn't even know could be smoother, like the pinch-to-zoom on the browser. Browsing apps in the market. Scrolling through tweets. It's all smoother.

It is too early to tell anything about the battery life, but I wasn't getting great battery life before. Oh, the new Gmail is great, as well as the Calendar.

The voice dictation thing is also very handy for emails and long text messages. It is near instant feedback.

Wow, just flashed the ICS leak and loving it! Planning on going with CleanROM or BAMF eventually but I'm going to give this a few days. Absolutely no question, though, ICS is less laggy.

So you would recommend taking a stock phone and upgrading to ICS? No worries?

If you haven't unlocked your bootloader and rooted yet, you might want to wait a few weeks for the final OTA ICS release, but if you are comfortable with the fairly involved process, it's worth a spin.

I am not new to rooting. I have a D1 that is rooted. My Charge was rooted within a week of getting it last May. The D1 was by far more complicated. But the Rezound for some reason has me skittish. Don't know why. I have the IMG renamed and on the Internal SD Card just waiting. I am so close to doing the reboot. Just need my fingers to move. Kind of worried that when the Finial release does comes out that I will be able to upgrade. I have been trying to keep this phone as Stock as possible.

ok , i loaded the leaked "official" ICS .. all went well etc. works well etc.

when the OTA update comes on friday ? how can i undo this update i have now.

I tried deleteing the ZIP file off the sd card and rebooting etc.
so far i have not been able to get back to GB. ?

Any help would be greatly appriciated
