"I don't care who ya'r..that thares funny" This would something I would do, then I'ld be like: "Oh ya,,,,ya...I knew that, I knew that!".:D

I am sooooooo hesitant about taking the plunge.....

if i do this and something goes wrong, verizon has no obligation to honor my insurance plan for this phone

Drop the phone from 100 feet up onto rocks...They'll honor the insurance then

:D

Ive been saying that...
Actually, you said

all i can say is that the link there is legit and not the corrupted/patched leak, should be identical as far as build numbers go though.
and people have interpreted that to mean something is "wrong" with the previously posted ROMs. I'm not referring to build information either. The ZIP file that 'zanfur' (from XDA) patched to correct the error isn't the cause of people's issues they're encountering. Clearly, these errors are the reason VZW hasn't released 2.1 to Eris users yet.

OK, time for a real question for Cadd-meister or NKT or whoever the wizzard is? My Documents to Go migrated after the download; the version I have now is the free view version; I am not able to find the pay version or full version on download site (market place) when I do a query the only thing that comes up is the free version. I have paid for the darn thing with 1.5 (Nobody jump here and say "I told ya so" crap |8-P sticking your tongue out at me...) (humor/sarcasm/humor) I haven't checked their web site but I figured if it doesn't show up in market, it isn't written for 2.1 yet; any thoughts, suggestions, hey dumb-@$$ it's right in front you as plain as *228!

is the link i posted the link to the untouched and unaltered leak as opposed to the corrupted and then patched leak? yes

did i clearly state they are the same version? yes

I am not sure if it is that clear or not, could be, but I was just trying to help. I thought it odd that people are having issues like sound going out and all kinds of things that I have not.

Is this version ready for OTA, no, i think we all agree about that, but you are arguing semantics for some reason I have no idea.

I'm using the "patched" ROM and don't have the sound issue. I do have the lack of images in GMail (like you) and we're using "different" versions.

I don't doubt your intentions were 100% good, but people think the ROMs from yesterday are broken and the cause of their problems. Many are convinced the act of patching the ZIP to correct checksums are the issue. Fact is, some have installed BOTH and have the same issue. And I'm not arguing anything .... I'm trying to get people to slow down and take a breath instead of running in circles.

Let me make it clear:

The ROMs posted yesterday at thekrtek.net are the same as the one posted by Caddyman today. Someone took the patched ROM image and said it was the "legit" version.

i was thinking that seeing how even the file names are the same. figures lol

I never bought it, I've search for it and also only see the free version.

When I did the previous upgrades early, there was the issue with purchased market apps not being avaiable. Here is the theory from others on this site...
When doing an upgrade early, the network has not adjusted to the "footprint" of the build number in the market place. The apps are still yours, however they may not show up until the ota is pushed.

This is exactly what happened. The free versions are available, but not nessecarily the purchased versions.

The above may be the issue with the gmail program and the pictures.

once the update is pushed, all should be good.

DO NOT DROP THE PHONE FROM 100 FEET ONTO ROCKS!

a sink filled with water, in your own home is fine. no need to go climbing. we shouldnt be putting our members in danger.

remember people, safety first. we all want to be alive to enjoy the benefits of 2.1.

You can also "accidentally" run it over with your car. Gotta have variety! :) Also, make sure that you are not under the car with it when it's run over - don't wnat members getting hurt that way either. ;)

ETA: Will the insurance even replace it with water damage??

I would shoot it with a small caliber handgun and claim that it "saved your life". This way you could also claim sentimental attachment to the destroyed phone to see if they will let you keep it....along with the battery and SD card.

Obviously you should not be holding the phone when you shoot it.

MESSAGE TO HTC AND VERIZON

We know you are reading this. You are aware how long we've wanted this update. Whether the leak was intentional or done by a rogue employee, it doesn't matter. Since Wednesday evening, since this mysterious file suddenly appeared on the internet, the situation has exploded. Tech savvy people to the technologically challenged are attempting to install the 2.1 software in this unconventional way onto the device they have purchased from you. Many have succeeded, however a few have failed.

Those that have succeeded, with a few minor quirks that are understandable, can probably say that the upgrade meets expectation. Those that have failed have either performed the procedure wrong, or had other mitigating issues.

Since it is working, RELEASE THE SOFTWARE. Take control of the situation and give us support.

The number of posts in the last 3 days have spoken of the excitement. We support you, support us.

Put it in a jar of mayonaise for about an hour. Tell them you had a sandwich accident.

Give it to a couple of hookers and tell them "They really don't want to know what happened"

Them being Verizon/insurer
