Help The notification light

I know this has probably been widely discussed on the forums, and I have heard of the Light flow app. Was wondering when the GNex's notification light goes off. I've tried callign myself and the light goes off, a bit pointless though with the full screen lighting up already. There are no settings on it, the thing is I want to enable notifications like missed calls, text messages, notifications from twitter/facebook. And without the fuss of installing a third party app =/
 
The notification light is off while the screen is on. When the screen is off it will pulse on every few seconds when you have a notification.
 
I've seen it light p for missed calls, voicemail, Gmail and texts. Not sure what else triggers it. My issue is that the single white led blinks so slowly and gently that I rarely notice it. I wish Samsung/google would have baked in more of the functionality that light flow offers. I've used light flow but didn't like the fact that it was constantly running in the background.

Same, I also don't like the fact its a third party app as well. Not from Google Inc.

Well, this is what Android is about - surely. You have a free choice and lightflow just happens to be the best app for the purpose. I had stock LED notifications on my old HTC and I must tell you it was no better than the stock Google one on the Gnex. Try lightflow (there is a light version for free) and see what you think.

For me the lightflow app works great... Only thing is it will continue to flash if you clear the notification out of the notification bar by swiping, but don't actually go view the event that caused it.
 
Wishing there was an notifications update for the GNex in the next one though. Light flow seems a bit like an unorganised app to me, its not that reputable =/

I dunno but its probably just me, a bit paranoid of viruses etc. because I only got it yesterday :D Think about the excitement you got when you first recieved it :P How it said something about not being compatible with all devices, and the way the description is structured isnt the clearest.

Oh you can change this in the settings of each individual notification. Manual, Screen on, or enter app

i understand. The warning that pops up when you turn it on in the accessibility section has made several people not feel right about it.
 
Yeah and that too, but I didn't allow it to run with the accessibility and it still works. But I'm keeping a look out for suspicious activity

You can really calm down about this. Many, many GNex users also use LightFlow, including Guides and Mods on this forum, other knowledgeable users, rooted users, users running custom ROMs, and even developers. If there was a problem, someone would know it by now.

In fact, any app that is recommended by more than one person on these forums is pretty likely to be safe. Even safer if the person/people recommending it have more than a few posts and a few thanks, and especially when the Guides or Mods chime in to suggest it as well.
 
I have used light flow for about 3 months now and it is a dream come true. I missed the different colors from my blackberry and this more than makes up for it. I have had zero issues with it and love it.
 
So you can't swipe away the apps specific notification (i.e. GMail) to clear the light just for that app?

Yes you can. Notification and light are the same event. If the notification is gone, the LED notification goes with it.

When I swipe away Gmail notifcations, I stop getting the color for Gmail (which I set to red).
 
On my Droid X, after I checked an email on my computer or other device, the DX would recognize that I no longer had "new" mail, and would kill the notification light. It's very disappointing the Light Flow doesn't do this.

Of course it does! This is simply a function of gmail and the fact that when a new mail comes in you'll get a notification, provided you have chosen to get a notification in your mail settings. Furthermore, if your gmail account is set to IMAP then any changes will be pushed to any device connected to that account. In other words, you delete a mail on one device it will be deleted from google server and a delete flag will go to all other devices and since light flow gets triggered by events, deleting or indeed reading a mail message on another device will extinguish the light on your GN. :cool:
 
the only problem I have with lightflow is that it takes complete control of the LED and doesn't permit other apps to control the LED. E.g. I use touchdown email and TD allows it's own LED control. Lightflow does not support Touchdown so it not only does have LED notice for TD but it also blocks my TD from using the LED. If there was a way of providing other apps to "override" the Lightflow (maybe by specifying them from a list), then I would even pay for the Lightflow version. I have requested that the developer provide support for TD.
