Root Odin flashing(Return to stock) for the Samsung Transform Ultra

Quoting bads3ctor.. yes I FIRST need a stock rom in order to get you guys able to go all the way back

But, I do plan on getting some roms like stock, rooted
then stock rooted with CWM, w/ Bob's kernel

that way you have options on what you want to restore to..

@Bads3ctor.. I dont think any of the roms in these threads have a different partition size than stock. I know you guys are working on cm7 and I'm sure that you are working with different partition sizes cuz thats almost always the case with cm.. so my question is as long as you are using a stock/modded rom like Smith058's MrRee, interdpth's Star-ScROM, or our $hevron-ROM you should be able to restore data correct?

Yes, as long as the image of /data is the same size as stock data partition...which I think is 1007MB. I flashed a data image that was ~10mb and Android would not boot even after I reformated /data back to 1007MB. I had to re-flash a good kernel to get Android to boot.

Me thinks there should be a centralized forum for all these bits and tidbits you mighty devs have gleaned through trial and error instead of a spread out amongst different topics. :D You know, to encourage new devs with a plethora of information in an easy to find place.

ok bads3ctor how about this.. I have a script that smith058 and I worked on to make it for the ultra

it comes from a dev in the prevail forums named Kumajitsu. he made the script not me. I just modded it for the Ultra

you reboot into recovery
do a backup or restore to the rom you want to tar up(to get around the 2 min reboot issue)
it creates a temp folder on your sdcard
It dumps boot, system, recovery, and data to the temp
packs then up as a odin PDA.tar
moves PDA.tar into a gingerbread folder on your PC
then deletes the temp on your phone

now when you use odin you just add the .ops and The PDA and BAM the whole system flashes instead of flashing seprate ones

here is one that Smith058 did from his stock/rooted backup

PDA.tar

Is this ^^^^ Sprint or Boost Mobile?

I am about to get stock Sprint partitions from someone...I will post them soon.

Edit: Posting stock Sprint images now(6:27PM 3/22/2012) :D
These images have NOT been tested by me....we need someone to test them on their Sprint Transform Ultra to verify that they are good.

Edit2: md5 checksums added.

Thank you penguinrepair.

thanks guys, sorry for the lag.. I've been working 12/13 hrs the past week and haven't had time to get with anyone with a sprint phone so I'm glad you were able to get those

Here's the script...
download and unzip
reboot into cwm
restore or backup (to get around the 2 min reboot bug)
plug in your phone
run the .bat
you have to have about 1.5GB of space on your sdcard for the script to complete and the pda.tar will be pulled to the gingerbread folder inside this file

penguinrepair bricked his Sprint Ultra a few hours ago and now my Boost Mobile is done for. That was fun!

His was done in using flash_image in recovery to flash a kernel and this did mine in:

package_extract_file("boot.img", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p8");

In updater-script.

Yes...sorry about that. It seems that minus converted it to a .bin
Rename it from .bin to .exe and it will run in Windows.

Mine is under warranty and penguinrepair's is either going to get re-flashed by Sprint or jtaged.

Edit: For your viewing pleasure, here is what my last attempt at CM7 looked like:
before_brick - Minus

And what a total brick looks like:
brick - Minus

Edit2: I will be fine....mine will be returned and I will get another one. Penguinrepair might need another used Sprint Ultra so if any one comes across one cheap, please post it here. Thanks

Well that blows...
This would be a good time for our community to scour Craigslist and find a cheap bricked phone that we can odin back to life and hook up our dev... that is if you're still willing to work on the ultra.... you got some skill this community needs... I would hate to see you leave!

Any case thanks for what you have done for us... I know we all do appreciate your presence here!

Yeah what he said ^^^^ I will get you a phone if you still want to work on it just let me know its the least we can do for all your hard work Thanks!!!

Returned my Ultra to Radio Shack and got CC credited the full amount. I am thinking about what to do next. This particular phone is very difficult to develop for so I need to think whether or not I want to spend any more time with it.

If pengiunrepair can jtag his and get an idea how the boot sequence goes then I will buy another one.

what phone will you get if you decide to leave the Ultra for good?? what caused the brick a kernel problem?

They have an AT&T Samsung Galaxy S2 at the pawn shop and I can haggle them down on price to prob $220  Dual core 1.2ghz. The cause of the brick is explained above. Flashing a kernel using flash_image or with an Edify command in CWM bricks this device.

Damn brick it so bad that Odin couldn't save it, well i hope you make the right decision which is obviously staying with the all mighty Transform Ultra;)

Almost had a mini heart attack after my baby powered off from cwm and went into ram dump mode. tried restarting it but it wouldnt boot past the "Samsung Transform Ultra"
luckily i could still boot into cwm and nothing a lil restore couldnt fix. Even though odin is available im still trying not end up in the brick stage;P.

Well I went to a repair shop, the phone is driving me nuts with it's constant beeping, and they wont replace the usb port if that's what it needs, so they sent me off to the Sprint store  and of course they told me to un-root and get rid of the mods then they will work on it. (no surprise) The technician was very impressed with the mods in prime ROM 4.0, he said he had not seen such good work. (props to prime ROM peps) ;) Of course he was just doing his job and is probably is rooted too. One more shop that said they will work on it will be calling with a quote hopfully tomorrow. This returning to stock looks scary (I do love scary :D ) but I hope I find a good solution before trying to tackle this Odin return to stock stuff.

You need more then the usb fixed man, I think you got a lemon from the various issues you've reported... id stock rom it, and send it into sprint for a new one altogether...

Well I'll study this info and give it a shot. It will be the cheaper way to go if I can pull it off.
