Root htc EVO ONE

Its pretty much the same phone as the one however it does have an SDCARD slot unlike the one and its a bit bigger screen if I remember right.

just in time for my contract renewal. Nice. I wonder what the story is on battery life? That may be my biggest gripe about my Evo now.

Battery should be way better. Battery has way more capacity and I'm sure it will be much more efficient overall. The only thing that keeps me off the evo lte is the galaxy nexus.

well the the battery has i believe 2300 or something close to that... compared to our 1300 id say that is an improvement the only thing is the battery cant be removed -________-

That should make rooting very interesting I wonder if HTC is going to offer us a way to root right off the bat?

how would that be an issue

like rxpert just said. if you end up having a bottloop or something to that effect, you can just pull the battery out and then reboot into recovery. without access to the battery it will be hard to do that. so i believe that htc will have some kind of way to shut the phone down with having to do a battery pull.

The Non-Removable battery does suck for those wanting to swap out the battery when needed, but it wont be a concern for those needing to get to recovery. My HP Touchpad (Non-Removable Battery) running CM9 sometimes (more then that actually) has power issues, and I can get to recovery or shut it down by:

Simultaneously hold the power button, volume down button and the big HP button for 30 seconds

I am sure HTC will build some type of button combo into their device for this same reason.

from what I read it has a 2000ma/h battery, as opposed to the 1500ma/h in the old school evo. that's a pretty big difference, 25% more is a lot, but it is pushing duel core now, so we will have to see. I wouldn't mind a thicker phone if I could get significantly more life out of the battery

I don't see how 2000mah is going to be much good unless the phone works way more efficiently. I have the seidio extended battery which is 3500mah and I'm lucky to make it from morning to say 9pm at night with little usage on the evo 4g. Also I'm not sure about not being able to remove the battery. Right now I can pull my 3500mah and pop another 3500 spare in there if need be. If something goes wrong with the stationary battery do we get no other choice but to rma and receive refurbs? All that being said I'll probably still end up getting one.

Sorry just realized the post above mine!

Are you rooted? What ROM/kernel are you running? I have NO issues making it 24 hours+ on the stock battery

The higher screen res. and dual core will suck up a lot more battery than the standard evo ... so i dont see the battery life being any better ... maybe even worse than the current evo. I like the option of being able to swap batteries in evo's now . I carry an extra 3500 battery with me all the time now. That being said I will still most likely get the lte for the dual core. Anybody know if this phone supports HMDI ?

The bigger screen will suck more juice, but the dual core processor will actually use less power. 2 cores to do the work will require half the load, plus it's newer tech. ;)

Check out the forum Early Mon posted above, there's some really healthy conversation going on over there. :)

Yeah, I don't think there will be an issue with battery life. The Evo 3d is alot better than the Evo 4G and the newest tech should even be better.

To have minimal use with a 3500 sounds weird. I use a 2600 that lasts days if I want while always syncing or 9 hrs while running Pandora for 7 1/2 through out the day.

I've never gotten a phone on the release day but I'm thinking of it this time.:D

Also I think i read somewhere that with the ICS kernel the battery life is much better than any gingerbread kernrls out there.

We'll have to see on that. All of the ICS kernels I'm running so far aren't getting nearly as good of battery life for me as GB ones.

Granted, this isnt official ICS, so I won't pass judgement.

I think there is more to it than that. With the evo being old hardware I dont thing ICS was ever ment for a single core processor Im guessing on this but I think the newer phones work more efficiently than the evo. Ive been waiting to see if my daughters photon will get the ics update but so far not. I think the non removable battery is going to be the standard unfortunitly. For me no big deal I carry a car charger so im always good to go.

A single core shouldn't present a problem, but the limited ram on the Evo may present a serious challenge for ICS.

And not all multi cores are created equally. We're already seeing problems with the Tegra 3 and ICS from HTC in the One X, but I'm optimistic about the S4 in the Evo LTE (popularly, LTEvo, aka EL TEvo) as HTC is already experienced producing S3 kernels.

However - it's the same as it ever was - the proof comes upon delivery. ;)
