Well, if I'm going to abandon my beloved Eris it is going to be for that speed.

I confess to also eye-balling another HTC product: the Touch Pro 2, which gets 4.5 out of 5 stars by user reviews. But it uses (cover your eyes) Windows Mobile 6.1.

Thats what I use for daily use right now....
I Love it!
And I run WinMo 6.5.5 and with Sense/Manila 2.5.....
Its really a fast device and I never have any issues with it :)

Dang, another good review for it.

My Eris is sniffling right now with all this HD2 etc talk. I'd better take her out of my pocket and message somebody, browse the web a while with her, etc. I don't want to make her mad at me. :D

The official OTA will come to my phone and, at that point, or shortly thereafter, I'll likely, along with many others, stop talking up the 1.5 and thus become perhaps a little less annoying.

Haha. Just teasing. But wouldn't you just be so upset with us if we have the actual release, all our bugs worked out and then we leave the boards? You'll be stuck with Smacky.

I'm just saying that's like being sad that the Ford Taurus got discontinued, its not really that big of a hit. But hey, there's hope, the Ford Taurus was officially discontinued and now look, its back out there making families proud. And besides I have a Mytouch, its like the same phone as the Eris, if it got canceled, oh well, just think of your phone now as a collectors edition. I just don't understand why this is a 'hot' thread.

Most well-used threads in here have wicked topic-drift off-and-on.

The fact that the posts sway back to the topic at hand says, usually, that it is a dynamic one, that is it's a topic that is out there in the news or at least being bandied about other forums and blogs, etc to it is being discussed here as well.
 
Seriously though, if this is true, what they will most likely do is drop the Eris, make the Droid $99 BOGO Eris till they are gone or something, and sell the N1 ans Incredible for $250 after rebate.

The Eris is popular. Maybe they'll just continue all the BOGO stuff for it and do the other stuff you mention as well.

Quite a portfolio for Verizon et al, imo.

But if you could get a Droid for the price of an Eris, would you still buy the Eris? They can drop the Eris now because the better Sense UI phones are available now. They have recognized that more people want the Sense UI option and the form factor, plus the better processor, so they are demoting the Droid and removing the Eris to make way for the next Gen.

Eris is popular. Eris plus Snapdragon processor, Native 2.1, and updated Sense UI, and HD 3.7" screen =GOLDEN!!!

I'm thinking the price structure would have the Eris and Droid in a BOGO schema and/or as Droid 99 bux and Eris 49 or whatever. It's just that the Eris has a following and it seems foolish for it to suddenly vanish from the shelves never to be seen again.

If someone was giving me a Moto Droid for free I would rather pay money for the Eris.

Incredible for sure. The Droid is seriously fugly, I have no use for a physical keyboard and I want Sense.
