Found on internet that AceGingerROOT.zip Tryed to root with that file and it ''worked''. It sed update instaleed from SD card. But when I start my phone i can't see the SuperUser Icon, and can't install CWM, getting the status 7 error all the time, so i googled how to check if my phone is rooted, with connectbot app, and the app sed its not rooted, Tryed to root again with SuperOneClick app, and that app sed my phone is rooted, i don't understand is it or isn't rooted?

Bad news for now. This model known as Ace Cooper have some kind of security protection any kind of Rooting binary fail to install is a real strugle to root this phone ...even GSM-Forums have problems to root and Unlock it. If anything comes out anything new about rooting this device you will be informed very soon..untill then i must removed from the tutorial ..sry but that is the truth for now. :o

Hi StoneBoy Tony,
I just tried your v14 on my S5830T on 2.3.4 GINGERBREAD.DVKQ3 and it worked.

Many thanks for your effort :) :) :)

Now I'm really confused

What hapend, how did it work this time? You call Harry Potter :D

the last release I used was v11. At that point I had used odin to install the OPTUS firmware GT-S5830 GB 2.3.6. ran v11 and no luck.
Re-installed TELSTRA firmware GT-S5830T ran v11 and no luck.

tried v14 and it worked. I think that it installed su binary/busybox correctly, it hadn't done that before. I installed Titanium Backup and it had to repair something with busybox, can't remember what.

Remeber in the future if you want to unroot the procedure is as it is mentioned on the post. You don't need to wipe cache partion a factory data reset...now with the new unroot zip is deleting completly all traces of Rooting ;)

As for the other users download the new v15 for Ace GT-S5830T i think you can root now your phone..give it a try. First run unroot zip if you had no efect on previous rooting and then run the v15 root zip.

Hi guys,

Well i tried the new V15 of universal_gb_root and it did NOT ROOT my S5830T which is EXACTLY the same config as OZVENTRIN's ???

And he got it to work on V14 which failed for me.

Surely the same config phone (down to firmware level) should behave the same unless OZVENTRIN did a bit more than just run V14.

:hmmmm:
:confused::bike:

Hi, I'd run the unroot and make sure the superuser is uninstalled.
Previously I've tried SuperOneClick to root/unroot my phone. Then used Odin and changed the firmware twice.
I haven't played with the phone since StoneBoy's v11 which didn't work for me.
I'd be curious to know if anyone with OPTUS has been able to root their phone.
Maybe changing to OPTUS firmware and back to Telstra 'tweeked' the phone and the changes to create v14 helped

Hi OZVENTRIN,

I'm glad u finally rooted the phone .... there are a lot of people with the same config and the same issue....
I just wish it wasn't so complex though as i am a total newbie.
Looks like i will have to read up on installing firmwares ...
If you new what u r doing, how long would it take to install optus firmware, reinstal telsta firwmare and then run V14 root program ...

thanks.

Problem here guys
cannot root S5830 on 2.3.6 GINGERBREAD.xwkt7
kernel 2.6.35.7-perf-CL787041root@DELL86#1

installs properly in recovery, atleast, no errors show, superuser appears in apps menu, but no superuser permissions allowed for titanium for example, it says it has no root.

updating su binary says it has legacy as installed version it cannot find currently installed binary to update? please help.
