I have a few issues with this ROM.
1. For some reason, I was unable to play embedded flash videos on websites. Likewise, no videos on the YouTube application would play. I downgraded my YouTube application and it worked. I was able to watch videos on the youtube.com mobile website though.
2. My phone got super hot, very quick! My phone had never gotten so hot before, and it concerned me. One instance I was taking pictures on vacation and the phone was overheating. I turned off any overclocking (meaning I put it back to 1 GHz) and even underclocked to 900 GHz, but there were no changes. For the time being, I backed up GSEII and went back to my stock ROM.
3. Not really an issue, but could you tell me where the hell raiser/demon background image is stored? My girlfriend changed my background as a joke and I was unable to recover it. I miss that background!

I will post up the wallpaper, unfortunately I or anyone I know has been able to find wtf the wallpapers go lol.

Yes it runs better on stock. Better in regards to the points I made above. I did forget to mention that I noticed the battery draining much quicker when on GSEII as opposed to stock.
I am a huge fan on GSEII and wish to continue to use it, but there are some kinks that need to be worked out and then I will go back definitely!

I forgot to mention that I keep my phone on airplane mode all day while at work due to low signal - that way my battery is preserved. A big indicator is that on GSEII, my battery will die to about 30% and sometimes lower while on airplane mode. Running stock, my phone will be at 80% at the lowest. I rarely take out my phone. I just leave it on my belt clip.

Either you did something wrong, a bad download, or a bad flash. No need to say its useless when its working for other people.

The numbers are against you, many have installed this with no issues, so its clearly user error on your end. I do not leave things up for download that brick peoples devices.
SO I suggest 1.) dont mod your phone, esp if you cant follow directions. 2.) Go back and follow the directions to a T. 3.) Try one of the newer variants. 4.) put the blame were it belongs, on the person modding the phone, not the person who offers up stuff for free.

LG Update tool, restores phone to original state, no custom ROM no Root. As for Gingersteem:
-Power button makes phone just reboot (WTF?)
-Keyboard is laggy as ****, adds 0.5 seconds for the keys to react
-Phone will NOT boot up unless you connect USB to it, whatever it is, charger or USB to pc, otherwise stuck in rebooting (More WTF)
The battery drains faster even I keep it at stock frequencies 245min 1024 max, could be the PRL update to 8 from 6
-After few days the phone randomly screws up either stuck into boot loop or freezing and rebooting as soon as it hits home screen and no charger helps.
-No performance increase.

Did you happen to try to flash a theme with it? One for say B or D?
0.5 seconds is actually pretty responsive
USB thing is the weirdest thing I've ever heard.
Did you wipe data before flashing?

Either you did something wrong or your esteem is defective. Not only have I ran each of my ROMs, so has many others with no issues other than whats stated in the OP or confirmed from more than one user.

Ive flashed every esteem rom lol and last night i updated to zvd and flash all the zvd roms without any problems.

So i installed this one and it all seems good but i have noticed that with no matter what rom i put something just mess up(all apps force close at some point) . My guess is files in SYS, SYSTEM, data ect got messed up when i went on a deleting being. i know this isn't the place but would anyone know where to get a copy of them? i have zvd no idea if that makes a dif or not.

If you need help just ask before you try to degrade something that is known to be working GREAT at the least. Is is very unappealling to do that.

So Hello everyone, this is my first post on AF! Please forgive me if this is not in the right place.
Thanks to all who have contributed to getting root on the lg Esteem, esp. Playfulgod.
I followed the excellent video guide and had very little trouble achieving root. The only error in the video that I encountered was that the video said you can install the Gingersteem zip to the internal phone memory or SD card, but (at least in my case) actually you must have a micro sd card installed for Rom Manager (CWM) to function properly.
So here is my question/problem - After rooting, I immediately installed Wifi Tether v. 2.0.7. I was able to connect my PC and get an IP address from the phone, but I can't actually surf to any web page. No matter what I try, nothing will load. So then I installed Open Garden Wifi tether, with the exact same results.
Its just strange because the pc shows that it has an internet connection, and the program shows the mac address of the the PC in green as authorized.
This is frustrating because enabling the wifi hotspot was my #1 reason for rooting, and it just won't work. I see all these videos on Youtube of people wifi tethering their Esteems to Ipods, tablets, etc. I am only able to see the ad-hoc mode, which only allows PC's to see the network. My other phones cannot see the Esteem.
I noticed in another post that wifi hotspot was not working in the original Gingersteem release, but supposedly it was fixed??? Is there some type of update to the ROM that I need to install?
To summarize:
1. What do I need to do to get wifi tether functional?
2. How do I set it up as an Access Point (AP) so other phones can see it and not just an Ad-Hoc network?
