Edit: Also, doesn't the back of the Eris just look so boring now?

Yeah, that's a bummer about the SIM slot, as it may make the phone a deal breaker for me. I need something I can use with assurance in Europe and China.Well it not having a SIM card slot is one reason and the other would probably be those bands are disabled on the chip.
with today being like a 15 page day, I'm afraid to go to sleep tonight thinking that I'll have to wake up and have another 10 pages to catch up on!
I'm not sure if anyone else feels the same way, but i think i'm still in a bit of a shock after the ridiculous "new" spec's...not even sure where to begin....
Any chance that this is Google's first step towards larger app storage? If you remember they did say they were working on a solution to allow app installation to sd cards. Could it be that this phone will allow installation to the onboard ROM (presumably 6GB if we are to believe it)? Just thinking out loud here and trying to reason out if there is any chance in hell that any of this could be real.
I need to take the trash out...i'll let you guys know if i see any pigs flying...![]()

Well, let ponder on the other great HTC phones coming out:
N1
Desire
Both only have 512 ROM.
N1 has 512 RAM
Desire has 576 RAM
Nowhere does it state either has anything close to 6gb of ROM OR RAM. Why would this phone be so wildly different? There's nothing in the spec sheet for the Incredible that's even close to that either.
Yes, but then your 3D games wouldn't look as great or have as great of performance.FWIW I think the N1 also has 576MB of RAM. 512 MB of RAM plus 64MB of memory for the graphics chip.

For the app things, Google doesn't allow you to put them on an SD card because of piracy issues. And there isn't enough room for 6GB unless you lost your SD slot. Then again, they might have been able to fit it in...who knows.
Had to post. Not because of the new developments, not because I have new information to add, but because you're not hearing from enough women. Not everyone eagerly anticipating the Incredible is a guy, and there are a lot of men who can't figure out their phones until their patient, loving wives show them how they work.
(Ducks from the stones that are sure to follow)
FWIW I think the N1 also has 576MB of RAM. 512 MB of RAM plus 64MB of memory for the graphics chip.
I'm just going off the published spec by HTC and Google. They list the Desire as 576 and the N1 as 512...
Still nothing even close to 6gb.
Where you talking about taking RAM for the graphics chip? A root procedure.Either you misunderstood my post or you have no idea what I was talking about lol
More like a 768 mhz QSD8250 snapdragon chip than the 1ghz qsd8650. This can't be underclocked since theres a chip for that. Thanks to the_animal99 for the original link.
Rumored specs of the HTC Incredible include:
- 768 MHz [now] 1 GHz Snapdragon processor QSD8650
- 3.7 inch AMOLED screen WVGA resolution
- 512 MB ROM [now] 6 GB ROM, 512 MB RAM [now] 1 GB RAM
- 8 MP camera with dual LED flash and AF
- Android 2.1 with Sense UI
- Optical track pad
- 1300 mAh battery
- Shipping with 8GB MicroSDHC card
- FM Tuner
- Dimensions: 117.5 mm (L) x 58.5 mm (w) x 11.9 mm (T)"

NKT, maybe a minor issue but where is the charging port located? I have been using Seidio products for years and like their car cradles. All the past HTC phone I have had have the port on the bottom and stand upright in the cradles.
The QSD8650 is the CDMA version of the QSD8250.More like a 768 mhz QSD8250 snapdragon chip than the 1ghz qsd8650. This can't be underclocked since theres a chip for that.
I feel bad for the people who don't have computer access at work and will have to wait until this afternoon (PST) to see this thread and the 10+ pages of great info contained within. Glad I jumped in this before the pages got completely out of hand![]()

a few questions if you have time. i appreciate any feedback:
1) the black back does look alot more smooth, but can you confirm, is it the same type of back used on the eris feel-wise? (kinda sorta rubbery).
2) also, did the incredible have live wallpapers?
3) do you, or anybody else, know how fast the N1 runs at (full 1ghz? slightly underclocked?) so we know what to compare this 768mhz to.
4) does the apps menu have the rolodex/3D scrolling like the N1?
5) did you get a chance to check out the picture gallery setup? the one on the n1 is pretty nifty/3D like. is this similar?
6) how accurate/effective was the optical trackpad?
7) will you have any more opportunities to see/play with the phone in the near future?
thank you so much for your information and your patience to answer all questions thrown at you!

anything on these?
