I kinda wonder why the desire isn't coming with 720p capture out of the box since the roadmap released back in December had it listed in the specs (Note: these are the same documents that had Incredible in some of the wording.)
I wonder if they have had some problems getting the functionality working or why it was on their roadmap, but isn't going to be there. Or at least isn't gonna be there initially.

The OS Takes up some room....for example my 8GB iPod touch only has 6.8 GB available for storage.
And the the Incredible will only have 512MB Ram(or at the very most 1GB Ram), but the ROM is where the data is stored while power is off.....RAM is where the OS stores data (running apps) while the device is operating.
Edit: One way to think of it, is ROM is how much files, music, data the device can archive.
RAM determines how much stuff the device can do at one time. While running, a device might have to go into it's archive(ROM) and put that into it's current work(RAM).

but I guess for some reason I thought it should have more space available, didn't think or I guess realize the Android OS took up that much space on the ROM.It'll be worth the wait for the Incredible. Like I asked before, has any carrier released a new phone on the day they announce it? That would be sweeeeeeeeeeet.

When does Verizon's BOGO deal on smartphones end? I think they are trying to get some old hardware out before then launch some new smartphones. I could be wrong but I would think that deal would end before the Incredible is launched. Although the Devour just came out and it is still going on. Any thoughts?

So is the reason people want 8, 16, 32, gb SD cards, is that to store photos, videos, everything but apps, thus, leaving as much of the built in ROM for apps?
Just trying to figure out if I should get an SD card as well, but trying to gain a better understanding of their purpose.

Yes. The reason people want the higer SD cards is for photos, videos, audio... This will be the first device to have that much flash built-in so you could go without the extra SD card. Just remember that with the 8mp camera and possilble 720p video later on, you can fill up an SD card pretty quickly. Just depends on your usage. You can always add a card later too.

Yep, spot on. It really depends on what your intentions, in terms of multimedia, are with the phone. If you feel like youre going to be taking alot of pictures/videos, and keeping a full music library on your phone, then "bigger is better."

When I asked a store manager about the android BOGO, he said they were only still doing it because Palm won't end theirs. Officially it's just to stay competitive not get rid of inventory, but that could be an excuse/cover.

I'd say its a little of both. Probably more staying competitive than dumping stock. However, when the Incredible (and other Android phones that are scheduled to be released around this time) are nearing their release date, then it'll be more dumping stock than staying competitive.
We're doing our best but it's not easy when your polite requests are simply ignored.

That's exactly right...i'll lay out more specifics in the coming days on what i had in mind but you've summarized the gist appropriately. Specific, and most importantly well moderated and updated, sections on Tips and Tricks, Owners Thread, Bugs (cataloged, classified, and if possible, with workaround or solutions), a Root/Custom ROM section, Accessories section with our own owner reviews/testimonials, etc... I think this would make this a truly unique end user experience and one stop shop. Of course, "I'm not only the President, i'm also a client" (think back to those old Hair Club For Men commercials) so as an end user i have a vested interest in making sure it's done right and that I also have a place to come and find answers!
Yikes. Mods really cleaned out some posts here.
Anyway. I really like this idea. Kind of like a separate incredible forum for all of us incredible users. We can keep the topics more organized and on topic versus this catch all thread.

As long as the camera sensor is sensitive enough(has a high enough resolution) I believe it's really more on whether or not the processor is able to do it, and one of the specs of a QSD8650 chip is the ability to do 720p recording, but I think the gap that they're missing right now is software to pull it all together.

Definitely get something higher than a class 4. I had a slower SD card in my camera and when I replaced it with class 6, the read/write speed was like night and day. On a phone like the Incredible which may be a power hog you don't want to waste battery life waiting for the SD card.
