i find it hard to believe that Engadget, lovers of iPhones would "lie" to BOOST an android device...

if they say its part of their gallery from the LTEVO i believe it

I wont argue, cuz I dont know enough about cameras. But I have to say, I totally agree with you!! I've followed Engadget for years, and they certainly dont/wont go out of their way to promote an Android device.

I never implied they were lying. I believe HDR is a feature of el tevo. Just pointing out that that cover shot employed the HDR feature.

Just a bit of background: an HDR shot is a composite of typically 3 shots: one that is overall underexposed, one that is normally exposed, and one that is overexposed. By combining the best exposed portions of all 3 shots, you capture more of the dynamic range of contrast than you could with just one shot.

The reason I pointed out that the cover was an HDR shot was so people wouldn't think that you could achieve that level of contrast capture with one shot. I was not questioning where the photo originated from.

that is in interesting point that you make of HDR though now that you mention it... i hope its a feature because as you stated it makes for great photos

It's there on the 1X & 1S (I think) so I'm pretty sure you guys will have it on the LTEvo too.

It does make a big difference to certain shots, especially when there's a bright light behind whatever it is you're photographing.

Precisely :)

Nice! So, after taking your advice, I went through and checked all the HTC One pics. Some of these, I seriously can't believe are not the DSLR! Then again, as some have pointed out before, professionals taking the pics doesn't necessarily mean I'd be able to get the same quality, but still pretty awesome:

And for those that want to try HDR out, prior to purchasing the LTEvo, I've been using it since my OG EVO:

HDR became a standard HTC feature beginning with the Amaze (you can add the Amaze camera app to a 3vo for free without root, see our 3vo forum for the XDA link).

I love the train shots here, taken with the Rezound.
I am really digging this camera. Especially the HDR Backlight Mode. I had some fun with it this weekend:

PS - HDR simply means high dynamic range, in other words, accepting a wide variety from dark to bright in one picture, using the method novox77 described.
