This might be little dated vid sorry in advance :) I think the guy in this vid probably does the best job in demoimg HTC HD media hub. Im sure this translates over to LTEVO (hopefully). It seems like it runs every app on a TV and steam to a tv while checking emails on the phone, awesome!. Now if Hulu, Netflix apps run as well as angry birds did in the vid ROFL :) I guess will see. So getting the hdmi wireless thingy heh.

P.S. @6min mark is when Media Link HD demo begins. :)

Good morning all
In preparation of the LTEvo arrival, I'm trying to figure out how to go about installing apps and data from those apps that I use on my rooted OG Evo.

I haven't used Dropbox before but plan on it with the 25gb of storage HTC is including.

Can someone comment on how we go about getting that extra storage?
ie... Is there an app already installed and all you have to do is create an account and Dropbox automatically recognizes your device... or?

Certainly won't be able to install Titanium Backup at first, was just wanting to throw a couple of documents on there with app names, etc.

Thanks

from everything I've read, how you describe it is how it's done. DB is preinstalled and once you open it you'll follow the steps and you're done. 25 geebees

Anyone know if I can wrap the back top cover (where this antenna is apparently located) with carbon fiber film and not lose reception? I purchased carbon fiber film without thinking if it would effect the reception of the phone. :p

I was first in line at my Best Buy for the Evo 4G LTE pre order. The only problem is my upgrade is not due till next May 1st. I have heard of the early upgrade buyout program. I called customer service and was told I had to goto my sprint store to do this. At the time I was thinking that sounds like a job only CS can do. So I went to the Sprint store it was on my way home anyways. Talked to one of the people there and was told only sprint CS can do this. He mentioned I might have to talk to retentions to do that. Has anybody got set to do the early upgrade buyout for the Evo 4G LTE?

The cover photo is an HDR shot. There's a telltale glow around the cross caused by the HDR tone-mapping algorithm.

I like using Pic Say Pro for most of my after effects. You can control the amount of HDR effect added and can usually add just enough to enhance the photo with the stupid glow.

That app averages multiple shots?

No, it applies an HDR effect to the one photo, but it looks similar. Here's a panorama shot I did with the Epic Touch, then edited with Pic Say Pro

HDR enthusiasts will argue (personally I don't care) that when you tone map from a single image source, you are not gaining any dynamic range. You're simply stretching the existing contrast via post processing. Therefore the same post-processed image can be achieved with a combination of adjusting histogram levels and brightness/contrast settings. It's not really HDR.

But we all know that some pics do look a lot better with a bit of post processing, so there's no question that the end-result is more artistically pleasing to some.

It would be nice if the HDR algorithms had a few sliders to control the amount of range you want. Most non-mobile HDR software allow for a lot of control. Someone brought up the analogy to auto-tune. Like auto-tune, there's tasteful HDR, and there's over-the-top HDR. In the end, it's all about what you want to achieve. There's no right or wrong in art :)

That's the main reason why I like PSP, I get to choose the amount of effect I want. I understand the HDR effect isn't exact because it's not taking 3 photos and combining, but I think the results are similar and sometimes better.

Anyone catch the part in one of the reviews that the LTEvo has a better rear speaker sound than the One X?

Which review are you referring to if you don't mind this is good news.

On a different note I just called Sprint to see if they would waive my activation fee from ordering through Sprint.com as I saw another member on her had done. The rep said no so I told him I would like to just cancel my order since I will be giving my business to Best Buy then. He said hold on let me get Management involved after a brief hold a manager got on the line and said if you can get a better deal through a 3rd party retailer you should go that route it is what I would do. HAHA great customer service sprint drive purchases to other retailers.

Sprint doesn't really make money off selling you the phone so they don't care where you get it. They make money off the plan, insurance, etc. you pay for.

HDR became a standard HTC feature beginning with the Amaze (you can add the Amaze camera app to a 3vo for free without root, see our 3vo forum for the XDA link).

I love the train shots here, taken with the Rezound.

PS - HDR simply means high dynamic range, in other words, accepting a wide variety from dark to bright in one picture, using the method novox77 described.

I have the Amaze camera installed on my EVO3D. I do like it better.
I wonder if it'll work on the EVOLTE??
Might try it since I have the Amaze APK. Just something to do and try.

I do understand that it was more of a principal kind of thing I know I am not sticking it to them by going with Best Buy as my contract is still with them. Though you are wrong about insurance, when I purchase from Best Buy now and go with their insurance I am pretty sure Sprint is not getting a cut of that. Where had they dropped the $36 activation fee They would be collecting $11/month from me for their TEP. I still see it as a bad business plan to send loyal customers to another retailer regardless. Perhaps the Best Buy rep who I would never had interacted with had they met my needs convinces me to switch to Verizon or ATT now that I am not under contract with Sprint. I am not leaving Sprint I am just laying out a hypothetical scenario of why I think they should care.

you are thinking emotionally and ethically. corporations do not think like that.

unless you are a CEO of a major corporation like sprint, you may never understand fully why they do what they do. i agree with the sprint manager, get the best deal you can, as others have (wirefly, etc etc).

if you do decide to stay with sprint, they are already getting the 2 yr contract from you, the cost of the handset and the 10 dollar premium charge, so they are still coming out ahead, plus you help them keep their churn low.

My friends upgrade was due June 2013 call retentions and you should be able to buy out your contract for 115.

I got my activation fee waived without any issues. I called up their top tier support and asked to get the fee waived, the cs rep looked into my account and said no problem. Before I called, I had come up with a whole speech I would give them as to why I deserved to get the fee waived but in the end none of this was required. The phone call took about 5 minutes at most. They had not charged me the fee yet so she put a note in my account that they would cover it.

I always used to get the activation fee waved cause I was considered a business account since I get 23% discount from my job. But then I think they quit doing that but I would call and get it anyway. I am hoping to do the same again. Do I need to do it when I get the phone or have them mark my account for it now? I am buying from Best Buy though cause I save 50 bucks but saving another 36 would be great.
