I always used to get the activation fee waved cause I was considered a business account since I get 23% discount from my job. But then I think they quit doing that but I would call and get it anyway. I am hoping to do the same again. Do I need to do it when I get the phone or have them mark my account for it now? I am buying from Best Buy though cause I save 50 bucks but saving another 36 would be great.

They stopped. I get discount from my work also and I pay for my own account for personal and work purposes. I upgraded one of my lines late last year and they said they couldn't waive the activation fee for me.

I think your best bet would be to call before you activate the phone since you technically haven't extended your contract yet and have a bit of leverage. The cs rep told me that she would monitor my account for the next few days and take the fee off if it appears. Either way it is noted in my account and she told me I probably won't see it on my next statement.

Sprint doesn't really make money off selling you the phone so they don't care where you get it. They make money off the plan, insurance, etc. you pay for.

This. The overall phone sales just become "bragging points," but their ultimate goal is locking in the accounts.

I think it is probably very YMMV. I had no issue getting it waived yesterday but other people may not be so lucky. Calling top tier support probably helps also.

I can confirm this after being denied originally I took your advice and called Top Teir explained my situation and without any hesitation said they will waive my activation fee. So if you are looking to get it waived I suggest going through Top Teir as Tsipa has recommended. Thanks again

I always call the business customer support. I probably just didn't ask properly. I'll probably try again this year...LOL. Never hurts to ask.

Engadget posted a review of the LTEvo, I linked it in the review thread. One thing I will add here is the camera button is two-step, and they liked it. Awesome news.

Edit: also, minimal bloat. Only Sprint Zone and the hotspot app from Sprint, then Facebook and Dropbox. Otherwise it's stock Sense 4/ICS.

More news on the camera button:

And got this as a response:

FANTASTIC question NeoteriX!
The button feels like it has a first and second stage but it does not do anything at the first stage. I checked the settings and there was not an option to turn that feature on or off. Let me know if you have any other questions.
-Scott at Wirefly

Well, it turns out Scott at Wirefly was correct. Phil Nickinson from Android Central has a review unit now too and the first stage appears to not do anything... looks like they goofed up on the software for the camera button.

2. The camera's supposed to focus when you do a half-press of the shutter button. And it's not doing that, as confirmed by a number of us yesterday. The good news is that it's continuously auto-focusing.

lets be clear, everyone is supposed to be charged this fee, its in sprints ToS..

HOWEVER, you can call and "see" if they will waive it for you.

i saw this message just now and called and in less than 5 my acct was noted to get this fee removed. she will even call me and follow up to make sure it was removed if it gets added. so yes it works.

it helps if you have been with sprint for a long time and your acct is in good standing.

so hopefully these people wont get bombarded by lurkers seeing this and calling... :p

i could sense she really wanted to keep me happy and she did.

I got my activation fee waived without any issues. I called up their top tier support and asked to get the fee waived, the cs rep looked into my account and said no problem. Before I called, I had come up with a whole speech I would give them as to why I deserved to get the fee waived but in the end none of this was required. The phone call took about 5 minutes at most. They had not charged me the fee yet so she put a note in my account that they would cover it.

Here's the number for their top tier support in case you want to give that a try: 18667270665

Just ask for account services when someone answers.

Yup, I think you're right. Been with Sprint about 10 years, 3 lines... that equals a lot of phone upgrades. I've never been charged an upgrade fee. Sprints even removed them for me via Sprint chat, online.

I have the Amaze camera installed on my EVO3D. I do like it better.
I wonder if it'll work on the EVOLTE??
Might try it since I have the Amaze APK. Just something to do and try.
Paul

Tinkering is always fun! :) Let us know, but I think you'll end up with the newer camera app in the LTEvo and not look back. ;)

PS to hsh.shawn - I have to go back and find which review said that the rear speaker was better, will post back when I find it. So far, I don't recall direct comparisons to the Evo though.

same here. I even just called them up to take care of my upcoming activation fee thing and got that waived plus a 20 dollar credit for the next two months off my service. much of the whole process is really just due to what I call the gift of gab. the way you talk to people, especially customer service reps etc will either generally get you what you want, plus some additional perks sometimes, or just get you mad and nowhere most of the time. get into character and see your desired result before you even make the call. it works obviously...aaannnd ACTION!

Yeah, I called in this morning to just the regular customer service number. I told him I was going to be buying the new EVO 4G LTE and asked if I would have to pay an activation fee. He said, "Oh, you're really going to like that phone, let's see if I can get that waived." Then he flagged my account and said if anything shows up on my bill just call in and reference today's date. It was really simple. Maybe I just got lucky.:)

Anyone catch the part in one of the reviews that the LTEvo has a better rear speaker sound than the One X?

EM, not really a review but Phil mentions in this vid that LTEVO speaker is as good if not better. Phil just man handles his LTEVO's (Yes 2 LTEVO's) and just flops LTEVO on the desk. ROFL, I'm like you dont handle brand new LTEVO's like that  (My precious :o )

HTC EVO 4G LTE video walkthrough and (not an) unboxing - YouTube

LTEVO does seem to take being tossed on a desk atleast.
I stand corrected, sorry. Phil says "Its just about as loud as OneX" what ever that means. I am curious about him getting stuck in landscape mode. (@1:20 mark) I wonder if we will be able to do that w/o Media link present. I.guess have to wait and see :)

Hmmmm. Interesting. My remark was made based on a statement I'd read tho, and that guy said it was louder and clearer (as I recall) than the One X.

I'll find it later when time allows. ;) :)

The speaker on the bottom half of the phone is also one single slit, as opposed to other HTCs with dotted speakerphones. This increases volume and looks pretty slick.

Of course, that's Tech Radar, so no telling that I would have trusted them. Gaaa. I clear history on browser close, but still looking...

I couldn't see this anywhere in this thread, but have you cats seen this yet:

HTC EVO 4G LTE unboxing and hands-on [video]

Lol...I guess a lot of reviewers don't know and including the att rep at the store I was at! It's so funny @8:20 he so confused as to why it kept going:D By default the is set to take 20 burst shot and then stop! Once you go in to the setting and remove that 20 burst limit, when you hold down the shutter the max photo's it can take is 99 burst!

Maybe I ran accidentally ran into it :D. Phil over at AC had this to say about LTEVO Ext speaker compared to the OneX. Sounds like your right on about the slot along bottom of LTEVO improving sound quality :)

External speaker info ahead!!!

It's pretty nice, actually. I think it's a tad more crisp than the One X, and just as loud.

Sorry for the shabby cutNpaste :p (OG EVO) :)
