True, but I have been bugging my buddy pretty much every day to get me information on this phone when he gets it. He received a call today from his manager and was told there was a meeting tomorrow on the Incredible. Thats why I was asking other to call around to their independent stores to see if they are getting the same info. He just called me at 12:59PM EST.

Can anyone confirm this? any VZW contacts or independent store contacts? I don't have any sadly.

If I get the Incredible online can I flash the info from my Dare to it without going to a Verizon store ? My NE2 is up but I'm waiting for this phone.

Well, you should all be thanking me. I couldn't stand it any longer and I broke down and bought an HTC DROID Eris over the weekend. According the the law of Murphy, the HTC DROID Incredible should be out anyday now.

Oh and by the way... YOU'RE WELCOME!!!

What school in VA? I'm at Virginia Tech. And I'm also a Dare owner! But I'd guess you love yours a bit more than I do mine....

Same. Go Hokies! I don't LOVE my Dare, but I certainly don't hate it. I just never had any problems with anything on it, other than a busted battery 2 months ago.

hey guys long time lurker 1st time poster.. i just wanted to ask does anyone think were gonna get any info out of this conference in Austin tonight? or is anyone going? also another question will the 8gb of internal storage or 6.5gb after the OS. will it be used to store apps? any ideas on this?

I am back from visiting my local verizon store neither of the workers I know was working to get any info. There was no Devour on display there. Looks like the 25th for sure on that. I then headed over to Samsclub to check out the workers there. They had a verizon guy and a sams guy working the connection center. The verizon guy asked me if I was already on verizon and I said yes and my contract has been up since Aug. He was like you want to try out the Droid, I said know I am waiting on the Incredible or Nexus one. He then said, I saw an internal spec sheet on the incredible and it will be out the 17th or 23rd of this month and some big news is coming. I am not sure if he knew what is was talking about or not because he then mentioned the palm pre. He didn't know anything about the nexus one. I asked have you seen anything on the ADR6300 and he said yes but he didn't link it with the incredible.

Also, said skype will be start of 2nd quarter and can make non over sea skype user calls for 20 cents per minute.

I asked about LTE and they said starting to roll out. I was like we will be the last to get it here in Southern Illinois and was told this time next year we will have it. I am in an area where the largest town is 25,000.

These guys somewhat seemed like they knew, but who knows. I wish I could have gotten Steve the samsclub by himself because is was talking more freely and his facial expressions was giving things away.

It'll depend on how drunk people can get the HTC attendees or if they can catch the HTC people with a dead hooker.

I went to an independent vzw store just a few minutes ago. The same rep who just last week didn't know about the Incredible said it will be launching in May today.

When the phone is launched i plan on starting, and maintaining, several key threads: Tips and tricks (which would include battery saving techniques and "streamlining"), Bugs (and possible workarounds), Owners thread, Accessories (with community reviews/opinions), etc... I posted about these plans a few pages back but i'm still waiting to hear enough feedback to feel like i understand the will and voice of the community at large about these plans. I only want to ensure that this "community" (Incredible owners), which has so far shown amazing cohesion and collaboration with this thread, continues to have a place to gather, discuss, collaborate, and support the phone once it comes out in a structured and well managed way. As before, I appreciate any feedback...
I hope you have a lot of time to dedicate to maintaining these proposed threads. I admire your goals, but in my experience, forums that try to rigidly organize like that fall out of favor quickly due to the administrative burden and rebellion/just-not-giving-a-damn by the users.

We'll obviously need SOME kind of organization, but if we rely on one person to handle it all, he's going to get burned out. I'm in favor of setting up a series of posts and/or subforums for the aforementioned topics and then just learn to live with a certain amount of off topic banter and crosstalk.

You should not have bought one they are Free at Best Buy. :)

this was a tweet from Phonedog_Noah today:

If Verizon launches rumored HTC Incredible & Google launches a VZW-compatible Nexus One at the same time, that sounds like #Google #FAIL

which lead to by zdro22:
@Phonedog_Noah what is your release date for the incredible..i know its a guess but humor me!

he Noah posted this response:
@zdro22 Launch? Next week. Release? A few months.

what does it mean? pretty much nothing like all the other info we have about a release date but I figured I'd post it anyways

I severely doubt launch is a few months away. Launching both phones at the same time would be bad for Google but maybe people are right and they are not interested in the money. Of course Google doesn't have a say in what phones Verizon chooses to sell. After the backstab of launching the N1 on Tmobile Verizon may not care.

hey.. i work for vzw and we have heard very little to this point about either phone. The spec sheet posted thats supposedly internal is simply not there on our internal site. We havent seen anything regarding training. We have a coming soon part internally and neither the n1 or incredible are listed. Hate to be a downer but this is all very speculative. The moto droid and eris were mentioned to us with massive training a little over a month before release. Granted this was when we were first introduced to the Android platform. Historically, we will hear about new phones around a month before launch. Being that we have not heard anything i find it hard to believe the phone will be out next monday. Maybe the 23rd there will be an announcement as to the release of this phone. Thats what Im banking on. But of course I was one of the idiots tuning in watching to see if the ipad would land on vzw and watched that stupid feed for 3 hours to hear nothing even mentioned about vzw. Just my two sense.. I am excited like all of you.. I am carrying a htc eris and a blackberry tour and will be getting rid of the blackberry once and for all for the incredible. Cant wait!

I called two independent stores. The first lady had never even heard of it and the guy from the second store said he had not heard that they were getting it.

Way to go, now we will all have to wait 31 days for the incredible (one day past the 30 day return window). I was hoping 1-3 weeks.

Comeon. Haven't we all learned by now these guys know nothing and will say anything. Go in tomorrow and I bet he gives you yet a different date.

1) You had better be right about the 17th or 23rd otherwise I am going to go bonkers (maybe I should start drinking at work).

2) What could be bigger than the Incredible launch other than the iPhone?

This is an incredibly difficult thread to keep up with....

Let me share a little tip with y'all that helps me to stay up with the thread. First, instead of clicking the thread title from the forum index, click that little blue down arrow at the beginning of the thread title:
firstnew.gif
That will take you to the first post in the thread since the last time you opened it. From there, it's usually safe to scroll pretty rapidly through the thread until you see lots of "thanks" below an individual post. That's where the juicy info can be found. With this method I've been able to keep up with the thread without going crazy or wasting lots of time. Hope that helps.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I find it ironic how there has not been "boo" said by any of the major U.S. carriers regarding the announcement of a single new HTC Android phone since Apple filed its lawsuit.

I don't find this the least bit coincidental and am wondering if all new HTC Android phones have been put "on hold" for the foreseeable future by the big four until they have assurance from HTC that the devices are safe to sell and that they will not be held liable for damages by Apple?

As a V.P. for a consumer products company we are required by most large retailers we do business with to indemnify and hold them harmless in the event a product we sell them violates a commercial copyright or patent. Retailers are deathly ill of being dragged into messy lawsuits and will go to great lengths to avoid them like the plague, rather than do business with a company that is embroiled in one.

If no new news regarding the release of the Desire, Incredible or SuperSonic in the U.S. is made at CTIA I'll be convinced Apple's put the kaibosh on all of these phones and those HTC may have in the early development stages for the Android platform as well. What would everyone do then if that's the case? I don't mean to rain on everyone's parade, but it's something everyone should be taking into serious consideration.
