***Official HTC Incredible Thread***

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I find it ironic how there has not been "boo" said by any of the major U.S. carriers regarding the announcement of a single new HTC Android phone since Apple filed its lawsuit.

I don't find this the least bit coincidental and am wondering if all new HTC Android phones have been put "on hold" for the foreseeable future by the big four until they have assurance from HTC that the devices are safe to sell and that they will not be held liable for damages by Apple?

As a V.P. for a consumer products company we are required by most large retailers we do business with to indemnify and hold them harmless in the event a product we sell them violates a commercial copyright or patent. Retailers are deathly ill of being dragged into messy lawsuits and will go to great lengths to avoid them like the plague, rather than do business with a company that is embroiled in one.

If no new news regarding the release of the Desire, Incredible or SuperSonic in the U.S. is made at CTIA I'll be convinced Apple's put the kaibosh on all of these phones and those HTC may have in the early development stages for the Android platform as well. What would everyone do then if that's the case? I don't mean to rain on everyone's parade, but it's something everyone should be taking into serious consideration.

So why would HTC ship phones to Verizon/Google if they weren't gonna release the phone?

I'm speculating here just like 95% of the posts in this forum and happen to find a lot of irony in what I see taking and not taking place given what occurs in my own industry when patent lawsuits are involved.

If Big Red comes out at CTIA and announces that the Incredible will be here in May we'll all be screaming from the rooftops. If no news is forthcoming we'll all be screaming for someone's head - more than likely Steve Jobs. That is unless the iPhone is announced to be coming to VZW. Then I may have second thoughts. ;-)

Thumbs up! Sure hope your right!

So yea the lawsuit is still in effect, but as it says in the article, apple sued Microsoft in the 90's. Im pretty sure Microsoft didnt have to hold their products.
You're too young to understand. Microsoft had much deeper pockets than Apple could ever hope to contend with. It would be like me trying to take on someone armed with an AK-47 with a pea shooter. It wasn't a fair fight. Of course Gates and Co. won.

I am back from visiting my local verizon store neither of the workers I know was working to get any info. There was no Devour on display there. Looks like the 25th for sure on that. I then headed over to Samsclub to check out the workers there. They had a verizon guy and a sams guy working the connection center. The verizon guy asked me if I was already on verizon and I said yes and my contract has been up since Aug. He was like you want to try out the Droid, I said know I am waiting on the Incredible or Nexus one. He then said, I saw an internal spec sheet on the incredible and it will be out the 17th or 23rd of this month and some big news is coming. I am not sure if he knew what is was talking about or not because he then mentioned the palm pre. He didn't know anything about the nexus one. I asked have you seen anything on the ADR6300 and he said yes but he didn't link it with the incredible.

Also, said skype will be start of 2nd quarter and can make non over sea skype user calls for 20 cents per minute.

I asked about LTE and they said starting to roll out. I was like we will be the last to get it here in Southern Illinois and was told this time next year we will have it. I am in an area where the largest town is 25,000.

These guys somewhat seemed like they knew, but who knows. I wish I could have gotten Steve the samsclub by himself because is was talking more freely and his facial expressions was giving things away.

Wonder what the news could be....

this was a tweet from Phonedog_Noah today:

If Verizon launches rumored HTC Incredible & Google launches a VZW-compatible Nexus One at the same time, that sounds like #Google #FAIL

which lead to by zdro22:
@Phonedog_Noah what is your release date for the incredible..i know its a guess but humor me!

he Noah posted this response:
@zdro22 Launch? Next week. Release? A few months.

what does it mean? pretty much nothing like all the other info we have about a release date but I figured I'd post it anyways

Would VZW officially annouce a phone and then launch it months later? maybe weeks, but a month?

I'm becoming more convinced that if there's any BIG news to come from VZW at CTIA it may have more to do with the iPHone coming its network this summer rather than a new "incredible" HTC Android device. The next 8 days can't pass fast enough as far as I'm concerned.
I don't know... Apple has a lot of clout, but I can't see them screwing Verizon by ruining their Android plans then then Verizon happily accepting the iPhone. That'd be a real "say my name, Bitch!" moment for Apple.

No Android for you! Now take this, and you better act like you like it.

Whatever happens with this lawsuit, I hope Google sends a few megabucks HTC's way to help with the legal bills.

If he gave specific dates, regardless of whether or not which phone, it sounds like SOME phone might come out then...

Noah from phonedog does have some pretty inside stuff, but then again he said that the Nexus (passion at the time) would never be seen on VZW. He said he had a reliable source that told him that. Then again, it wasn't originally launched, but he has been wrong before.

A coule of months? Nah.. can't be.

1) You had better be right about the 17th or 23rd otherwise I am going to go bonkers (maybe I should start drinking at work).

2) What could be bigger than the Incredible launch other than the iPhone?

You mean you don't already drink at work? :D

and agree, bigger than VZW iphone? Maybe VZW buying another company? dunno

So why would HTC ship phones to Verizon/Google if they weren't gonna release the phone?
Google is not named directly in the lawsuit and they are marketing their own phone under their own brand name. HTC is just the OEM manufacturer of the device and are merely providing the hardware. The two are unrelated.

Second, Apple's lawsuit is over software infringement, not hardware. HTC is not responsible for the software on Google's N1 phone. Google is. Therein lies the difference. If the N1 had Sense on it, then the HTC might be liable from a software standpoint and I emphasize "might."

Who would of thunk HTC would ever be in the news like this. UNREAL! This will be very interesting how this will play out. Google is standing behind HTC but Microsoft who is named in the lawsuit is not doing anything.. strange..

It is my opinion that VZW sales people are nothing more than phone store grocery store-type clerks. They are not privy to the inner workings. The clerk I spoke to in February was dead sure Steve Jobs was gonna announce the iPhone for VZ then. He was wrong. He was prolly following these forums.

I don't trust them anymore.

Not sure if I am miss reading you or not but just so you know the Nexus One was listed on the lawsuit.

AppleInsider | Inside Apple's lawsuit against HTC: Nexus One, myTouch cited

Too lazy to find the original documents but the above link kind of summarizes.

I dunno guys, I got a gut feeling with all this speculation today... I think the next week to 1.5 weeks is going to be something kinda big, either good or bad.

Now let's go get *hitfaced
