INCREDIBLE - :D

Ok..it looks like we are starving for news again here.. Testers... Employees of the food chain. Anyone want to throw us a bone here to tide us over? A new pic? A user manual? A spec sheet ? A date? Anything concrete?

I'm going into withdrawels here...

INCREDIBLE - :p

I would think it's no coincidence that the HD2 is announced last night then it's Android twin the Supersonic is addressed today...maybe the competitive spirit will move on to Verizon's way.....eventually

what do you guys think about this....

ctia will reveal some more technical info/specs about the phone and there will be hands on previews by websites like engadget, gizmodo, etc. An official announcement of when the phone will be released will be given there.

during the next couple weeks of all the sports (march madness, golf, etc) and easter there will be advertising all over the place about the incredible.

finally the release date will be reached and we will all be happy (around april 13th or so...my original guess).

i think the general public wont even notice anything regarding ctia...but we and all the techy people will. Then the general public will get all their info later seeing the commercials on tv and the radio.

just my idea.

From my recent investigations it seems that Verizon is a big opponent of making customer's wait for the phone they want (I.E. they don't make announcement of a phone until its release is imminent), so I don't think they're gonna have a big wait from announcement to release.

Edit: Verizon probably doesn't like to have famine periods when the phone is in announced/non-released limbo.

That seems logical to me. Verizon doesn't need to steal customer's away from other carriers by giving out phone release dates, they rely on their network bringing people over.

The TP2 was on HTC for a while before it was out the T-Mobile (first Version) was anyway...cause I bought it.

Read my post more carefully. The HTC website lists each carrier's version of the TP2 and the Verizon version did not appear until it was released. I realize the TP2, in general, was listed long before that because it was released over in Europe/Asia spring of last year.

Pretty good strategy if you anticipate that many of your HD2 potential customers could be locked into a contract if they buy an Incredible first

True....I have a tough time believing that it will be unveiled in a week just for Sprint to say we will sell this to you in 3 months...naaa, People are not that patient...at least I'm not anyway.

Just logged into the My Verizon site and noticed that it will be undergoing a significant redesign. Not groundbreaking news, but it certainly seems like Big Red is doing a lot of behind-the-scenes prepwork.

Can anyone tell me what the optical track pad/mouse thing is used for on a touch screen phone?

Several things, when your writing a email and you make a mistake it's much easier to use the trackball, optical whatever to go back and edit.

It's also useful for scolling through long pages to read by keeping your finger out of the way.

Truthfully, I've been wondering this too. My entire smartphone/PDA experience is on a Dell Axim 51v and my XV6900, so I've never use a trackpad/touchpad/trackball on a phone.

Just a thought though...One of the big problems with Flash support on phones is the lack of mouse-over capability, as I understand it. Would it not be possible, nay probable, to give phones with trackballs/trackpads a mouse cursor in-browser only? Problem solved, it would seem to me.

EDIT: Too dang slow on my part. Anything else it is used for?

What do you mean by "will be"? Is there a time frame scheduled for this redesign?

Exactly. It functions exactly like a traditional track ball without having the worry of foreign particles clogging it up and getting inside the device itself.

It's been on some of the tech. sites... VZW is changing the layout of "my account" when you sign in. I guess offering more services and making it easier for the customer.

No idea. It just says "Coming Soon!" and you can watch a little demo. First time I've seen it. Take it for what it's worth.

Nothing really huge about the redesign, I just thought the timing was interesting.

Perhaps it's too early to tell, but does anybody know if you can "click-drag" with the trackpad, as you would with the left-mouse button? If workable, that would be a nice little feature when needing to highlight text, move icons, etc...

Oh, ok. I haven't logged in for quite some time. Thanks for the info.

Possibly, but I would think that VZW would want the phone immediately available for all of the impulse Buyers who see the advertising and then want to bolt to the store to pick one up. If they do "coming soon" advertising, sure, there will be alot of people who will bookmark the release date and show up at a retail outlet shortly after release, but there would also be alot of people who will simply forget or procrastinate and not remember the release date.

I think they get more bang for the advertising buck if the phone is "now available".

Just my idea.

FYI, if you guys haven't seen a post on one of the other threads, Phases is writing something up regarding the closed thread issue. He didn't really have a tone either way as to what it might say, but it should be up soon according to him so keep an eye out for that.

Kappy....

What's your occupation? You're on here more than anyone. LOL. Glad to have you though. :D

Isn't Sprint notorious for this? Palm Pre and Pixi were announced by Sprint a month before they were available and then the distribution was so poor that a lot of people who went to get one couldn't (and ended up w/ a Blackberry instead).

ETA: and to keep it Incredible related: this is the perfect opportunity for VZW to announce Incredible if it is going to be available before the Supersonic.
